2. Int. Throne Room - Morning

Fades in with a panning shot of the throne room, King Phosphorus Lucrece, of long gray hair and a full beard, sitting at his throne.

Through the big dual doors walks a guard with a criminal in chains walking ahead.

King Phosphorus stands.

King Phosphorus
(Commanding voice)
Ah, mister Homings. I've heard a lot about you as of late. A lot about your various exploits. About your betrayal.

The criminal, Xavier Homings, kneels down aim the middle of the room.

King Phosphorus
What? Not much for words?

Xavier Homings
(Angry)
I have nothing to say to you...

King Phosphorus
And yet you speak.

King Phosphorus walks over to Xavier.

Xavier practically snarls at him.

King Phosphorus
Now, tell me. What was it that possessed you to betray the crown? Wealth, power?

Xavier does not answer.

King Phosphorus
(Subdued annoyance)
I see, so you still refuse to speak, hm? My people will get you to speak one way or another.

King Phosphorus motions for one of his guards, who walks over.

King Phosphorus
Unbind this man's hands.

Guard
(Surprised)
But sir, he-

King Phosphorus
(Domineering)
Do it.

Guard
Y-Yes sir.

The guard precedes to use his key to unlock the metal restraints from his wrists.

Xavier grabs one of his wrists and rubs it.

King Phosphorus
There. Is that better?

Xavier Homings
(Skeptical of his intention)
...Yes.

King Phosphorus
Stand, then. And speak to me. If you don't...

King Phosphorus looks over at another one of the guards, who is holding the hilt of his sword that hangs from his left side.

King Phosphorus
(Threatening)
...Then you won't enjoy what comes next... So tell me. What is it that motivates your mission?

Xavier stands up reluctantly, his legs seemingly weak as his raggedy prison attire hangs in tatters.

Xavier Homings
(Unafraid)
What motivates me... How can you not know?

King Phosphorus
Well, it clearly has something to do with me. But beyond that, I've no clue, nor an inkling.

Xavier Homings
"For the fall of man is the illness that is greed, the bane of hubris." Are you familiar with these words?

King Phosphorus
Ah yes, a scholarly quote from the bygone age. Shouldn't expect anything less from a studied man such as yourself, nobleman Homings.

Xavier Homings
I see, so you are familiar with those words. It's a great lesson to be learned, a great proverb to heed. And one you have failed to learn from, despite your knowledge of it.

King Phosphorus
What are you getting at?

Xavier Homings
You, a hypocrite in the eyes of god. Your people follow you, a shepherd leading the herd astray. But I see you for what you are. A thief in a king's robes.

King Phosphorus
And what connection to this "thievery" do you have, praytell?

Xavier Homings
Not much... I just want to right a wrong, is all...

King Phosphorus
And what wrong would that be?

Xavier Homings
(Louder)
For usurping the very throne you now hold...!

King Phosphorus
(Angered)
Don't dare raise your voice to me...

King Phosphorus looks at his guards.

King Phosphorus
Take this sludge away. I want him executed for treason and conspiracy against the crown at dusk.

King Phosphorus walks back to his throne and sits as the guards get Xavier bound once more, leading him out of the throne room.

Camera cuts to the next scene.
