"Roman!" Patton called across the car park, waving wildly at his friend who spun around and screeched; "MY ANGEL!" Before springing between the cars, crashing into Patton and twirling him off of the floor. The two laughed into each other's shoulders as they squeezed each other tightly, having missed interacting. They would've hung out over Christmas but unfortunately Roman's parents always take the family out of the country for the holidays. They made sure to text, call, video chat every moment they could. They were soulmates without the romance.
"People are staring" their other friend drawled, their friend just as much loved but less physically. "De!" Patton squealed, giving Roman a kiss on the cheek before wriggling out of his grip and rushing up to his friend, opening his arms for a hug which Deceit leaned into. Patton giggled brightly, as excited as a puppy with a new toy, giving his friend an affirming, loving embrace before pulling back and kissing his cheek gently. Deceit was never one for physical contact, his friends knew and respected this - which is why Patton cherished their brief moments of touching whenever they occurred.
"I hate you both" Deceit mocked, his two friends grinned. "I don't think anyone could hate this!" Roman grandly gestured to himself, giving them both a twirl too as the cherry on top. Patton cheered while De rolled his eyes. "I think everyone could hate you" he rebutted, smirking at the offended gasp Roman let out. He stomped his foot and crossed his arms; "ugh! You're such a bully! C'mon angel, we don't need him" Roman grabbed Patton's hand and tugged him along, the boy shorter than both his friends giggled and reached out for Deceit who gripped his hand and followed after the two.
"You two love each other really!" Patton commented cheerfully, now his two friends walking calmly either side of him, himself still holding their hands. Deceit and Roman shared a look, but they couldn't help simper at each other and silently agree.
Once they busied themselves at their lockers, Patton gave them both one more hug before splitting away to the library. He needed a new reading book for his English class and was unfortunately too distracted over the holidays to remember receiving one. While stepping through the isles, his eyes locked onto the books, he suddenly bumped into someone who dropped their book in surprise.
"Oh-!" Patton blushed, "I'm sorry" he added, swiftly bending down to receive the book and hand it back. He tensed when he realised who it was. Logan Atlas. His best friend's arch nemesis. Hatred burning for the other ever since sixth grade, Patton couldn't recall a time where they weren't arguing with one another. The boy stared at him blankly, "will you watch where you are going?" Logan responded in his usual rude way, Patton let it pass this time.
"Yes- I'm sorry, again" Patton repeated, stepping around Logan awkwardly to continue his search. Logan scoffed under his breath and went to continue his way but Patton stopped him, again.
"Sorry to be a bother but- do you know where the Narnia books are?" Patton requested softly, assuming with how much time he's spent in the library Logan would know it quite well. The boy turned his head sharply, eyes narrowed. "You are a bother. And I do not" he remarked, then marched away.
Hurt yet unsurprised he managed to receive help from someone else, assuming Logan didn't like him due to his friendship with his enemy. It sucked, Patton didn't want bad blood with anybody.

With the confidence of a new born deer walking on ice Virgil made his way down the auditorium towards the stage where he could already see a few drama club students catching up with each other after the break and discussing what the end of year performance may be. Early December last year Virgil was convinced by his older brother Lance to join a club in high school because he refused to be related to someone so anti-social.
He didn't join the drama club for the acting, he thinks if he dared act on stage with or without an audience his soul would leave his body and he wouldn't live to see another day - instead he spoke to the drama club president and managed a job in behind the scenes. After being given an example of how to work everything, he was absolutely shitting himself thinking he'd break and mess everything up.
But that was just his anxiety, he had moments of believing he'd be fine, which was enough to push himself up onto the stage and hurry behind the thick red curtain straight into someone's back. They both huffed out in surprise, Virgil stepping back into the curtain in shock, wide eyes gazing at the boy who swivelled around.
Shit. Virgil knew who it was instantly. Roman Kingsley. His friends enemy, and other friends twin brother.
Roman looked him up and down, tilted his head and rose an eyebrow; "what are you doing here? Working with Logan to annoy me, I presume?"
"No I'm..I got a job here? Working in behind the scenes" he clarified and instantly Roman brightened up, "that's you?! Marvellous! We've been waiting for you, as I'm Vice President I've been tasked with giving you a tour. While I don't trust you I can tolerate you" with that he turned around and walked further across the stage to a set of stairs, Virgil swiftly followed behind. He would've much preferred someone else, after all he and Roman were on touchy grounds due to their status' with a certain Logan Atlas, but at least Roman wasn't insulting him or being entirely rude.
"This is where we keep the props" Roman threw his arm in a grand gesture, Virgil peered inside the room, shocked at how much props they actually had. Unfortunately last year he was only shown how the machines worked to move different objects on stage, plus how to use the lights - he wasn't given a tour like this.
"That is the costume room - I wouldn't go in, some people can't help themselves and are currently stripping down to put on their favourite outfits. I don't blame them" Roman dreamily gazed at the closed door before continuing the tour, showing him more of the important rooms, plus different ways to get up onto stage rather than simply walking on from the wings.
"Unfortunately for you I cannot stick around for long, you can't bask in the glory which is moi" he gestured to himself, Virgil rolled his eyes. "Humble" he remarked sarcastically, Roman ignored it.
"But don't worry, we'll be seeing each other again" with a grand bow he left the storage room where the tour had ended, Virgil leaned on the doorframe and watched him stride away with the confidence of a peacock showing his feathers. Virgil had only seen the guy when he was fighting with Logan - and he was nothing like what he was now. It was odd how the two brought out such bad sides from each other.
