Chapter Eight

"Brandon, I'm done!" I called. "Brandon?"

I sat inside the bath tub in silence. The water was cold, and I was done washing up. I was also getting sleepy.

Never mind, I don't need him. What am I waiting for?

I got out of the bathtub. I grabbed the pink towel and I wrapped myself in it. I opened the door and peeked through the crack. All I could see was black, darkness.

Maybe I do need him. He needs to bring the light. I can't see. But didn't he take a box of matches out of one of these drawers?

I opened the first drawer and I found a box of matches. I grabbed them, and then looked around for something to light. There were no candles in here. I opened the other drawers and found nothing but a vase. Maybe I can make this work.

I grabbed a handful of toilet paper and put it inside of the vase. I struck the match against the side of the box, and put the flaming stick into the vase, and the toilet tissue caught fire immediately.

Walking out the door with light, I waved it around in the darkness. It's quiet, and spooky.

As my footsteps echoed through the hall, I peered into the dimness of the hallway. I need to see better, or I'll bump into something, or injure myself.

"Brandon?" I called once more. Where the hell was he?

Next thing, I bump into something. I tumble to the ground and I drop the vase. The towel covering my body drops, and I lay nude on the floor next to the scorching fire.

My breathing fastens as I hurriedly get up to see what I bumped into. My eyes finally adjust and Brandon comes into view.

"Oh!" I gasp. I hurriedly pick up the white towel. I wrap it around me as I watch him stare at me, wide eyed.

He looks me up and down. "Um, uh, well... See, I was coming to get you-"

"I was looking for you!" I cut him off. The awkwardness is even too much for me to handle.

"Yeah, me too," he looks away and scratches his head awkwardly. We look away from each other's eyes. "Damn she has some big boobs!" he whispered.

I smiled to myself. "I heard you," I looked at him while raising my left eyebrow, putting my hands on my hips. "Now show me the way to my room."

"Sure, I will. But you forgot one thing..." he trails off.

"What?"

"The fire!" he yells as he runs off, the opposite direction away from me. Fear ran through my body as I took position ready to run. Smoke went up my nostrils and through my mouth. I begin to cough and choke, desperately struggling to breathe.

"No! Stay there!" he commands, running away.

"What!" I screech. "No! I'm not trying to die!"

He waves his hands, "Stay there and watch the fire. I'm going to look for something that I can put the fire out with!"

"The smoke!" I holler, through watery eyes. I look at the blazing fire as it was getting larger every second.

He shouts back, "Find something so you can fan it away from you!"

He then, was gone.

I looked worriedly at the black smoke all around me, and the fire that reached to the ceiling.

Something I can fan the smoke with? What can I use?

Without even thinking, I took my towel from around my body and I started fanning the smoke away from me. I backed up into the wall behind me, staring at the big, yellow and orange bundle of flame before my eyes. It lit the room.

It was almost unbearingly hot and I felt hairs on my body starting to burn. The fire was getting nearer and nearer, as my body was about to catch on fire.

IS MIANA GOING TO DIE?!! WILL SHE BE INJURED?!!!
