Lights Out

"I like that you're broken,
Broken like me,
Maybe that makes me a fool

I like that you're lonely,
Lonely like me,
I could be lonely with you"

Souls can meet in the strangest of ways, stranger when one is the crime-fighting masked hero from Queens.

Hey there!

(Can we just take a moment to appreciate how amazing Gwen is? She landed on a branch on her toes!!)

I'm writing this thinking that I'll probably never publish this side-project.
But hey, if you've known me for a while, you'd noticed that side-projects tend to take over what I had started before. Which is what happened when I was writing Human, then decided to start a 'side-project' of a fanfiction.

Whoops.

Anywho, this is Lights Out, an idea that came to me in a dream a few weeks ago.
I'm always trying to write in my home country in my works, Human being based in Australia itself. And if you asked me about the education system in America (or anything really), I'd only tell you what I saw in films and/or read. I don't know much about how the high school thing works over there (e.g. seniors and juniors and all of those names in the middle. Why can't you just stick to numbers??) so this is going to be a mess and a laugh to Americans everywhere.

So let's dive right in!

—LIGHTS OUT—

"IT'S EASIER FOR THEM TO TEAR ME APART, THAN FOR ME TO PIECE MYSELF BACK TOGETHER."

From the inner suburbs of Melbourne lived a girl who had the world within her grasp.
She never realised hope could be taken in a heartbeat.

It was an average day for Bronwen when the accident happened, her mother at the wheel, her father working busily at one of Melbourne's best research compounds. The mother and daughter were on the road to discovery, as the report from her late doctor's appointment had arrived.

Nothing went to plan.

Since the accident, Bronwen has navigated life as one would read a map upside down. Her father moved the pair to Queens, and from there, she began to piece together a lost identity.

With her enrolment to Midtown School of Science and Technology brought new challenges this new Bronwen had never faced, the navigation of the American education system, the students, and those who would not give her a break.

It's not easy to pass your next calculus exam, harder when there's a weight on your shoulder.
