Anxious

After the party, Allison decided to take Stephanie and Isaac to her house to go over what was going on while Derek and Scott took Will home to rest after getting attacked by the figures.

Although, when they got to Allison's house, they found the ground covered in blood, almost like a trail, they followed the trail and found a bleeding and cut up Chris Argent.

The teens quickly helped him up and after a while, he was starting to act more himself, stitching himself up in front of the teens as he explained what attacked him.

"His eyes were glowing. There was something almost ritualistic about it. Like it was looking right into his soul." Chris explained as he patched himself up.

"That's the same thing it did to us." Stephanie whispered, looking up at Chris who nodded at her. "That's what it did to everyone." Chris said. Isaac straighten up, the chair he was sitting on creaking, making the three turn to him. "Not everyone. They only came after the ones with glowing eyes."

"And Lydia and Will." Allison said, making Isaac slowly turn to Chris. "Then who was the guy they went after in Japan?" Chris sighed, finishing closing his wound. "A kumicho. A Yakuza boss. It was my first gun deal. I was only 18. It was supposed to be a simple exchange, except Gerard left out the minor detail of the buyers being Yakuza. He wanted to see if I could adapt in the moment. Testing my ability to improvise."

"Or your ability to survive." Allison said, making her father sigh. "The moment the sun went down it was like they just materialized out of the shadows. They had swords, not curved like katanas but straight, black steel. Like ninjatos."

"What did they want?" Stephanie asked, slowly looking up at him. "To get to the kumicho. They cut down every living thing in their way." Chris said as Isaac slowly reached for the marking behind his ear. "Did they mark him like they did us?"

Chris slowly turned to Isaac, shaking his head. "Not exactly." Stephanie fiddled with her fingers before slowly looking to Chris. "What was he?"

"I don't know. But, there might be someone who does. There were a few others who survived that night. One of them was a man named Katashi... They called him Silverfinger because of an unusual prosthetic. And it looked like he was getting ready to take them all on himself. I've known for a while Katashi was in the country. I spent yesterday tracking him down." Chris said, making Isaac let out a dry chuckle, shaking his head. "Didn't look like he wanted to be found."

"Not particularly, no." The man grunted as Stephanie squinted at him. "You think he knows what they are? Or what they want?" Chris sighed, shrugging. "Maybe."

"What if he doesn't want to talk?" Stephanie asked as Isaac leaned back in his chair. "What if he doesn't even remember you?"

"He'll remember this." Chris said, reaching for the box on his table and opening it, turning it around for the teens to see. The three slowly stood from their chairs looking into the box, their eyes going wide at a broken mask of one of the figures.

"I know I didn't kill it. I'm not sure you can. But I slowed it down long enough for us to get out of there." Chris said as Stephanie slowly grabbed one of the broken pieces, looking it over before looking up at Chris. "What was behind the mask?"

Chris sighed, looking back and forth between the four. "Darkness... Absolute darkness. The real problem is Katashi doesn't see visitors. Ever. He's a paranoid recluse who rarely steps outside the gates of his estate. Oh, he's got a thing for rare, antique weapons."

Chris stood up from his desk, walking towards his cabinets, the three teens eyes following him. "Yesterday, I had some contacts put out the word that I was selling one from my own collection."

He slowly opened the cabinet and grabbed an rustic gun. "This is a french flintlock turnover pistol from 1645." Allison sighed, walking towards her dad as she shrugged. "You're not going alone."

Stephanie immediately straightened up at Allisons words, raising her hand. "If that means you're going, then so am I." Isaac sighed, making Chris roll his eyes and Stephanie smirk, already knowing what he's going to say. "If Steph's going, I'm going."

Chris glared at Isaac before turning back to the gun. "To be honest, I don't feel good about bringing any one of you. Maybe Stephanie." Stephanie let out a loud laugh, clapping her hands as she pointed at Isaac. Chris cleared his throat, making Stephanie quickly shut up as Allison squinted at her father. "They were looking right at Scott when the sun came up."

"Well, that doesn't necessarily mean he's the one they're going after." Chris said, shrugging. "But if he is?" Stephanie asked, making Chris turn to her. "If he is, that might only leave us till nightfall to come up with a way to protect him."

Isaac sighed, sarcastically clapping his hands as he looked at the gun. "All right. Let's go see if a paranoid Yakuza wants to put another gun in his collection."

...

Sabrina stood at the nurses station in the main lobby, just finishing a surgery as she handed the nurse her patients file when she heard someone come up behind her.

"Brina?" The shaky voice asked. Sabrina immediately turned around, recognizing the voice. Her face softened at the sleep deprived Stiles. "Stiles. Are you all right?"

Stiles' eyes diverted to the ground as he rapidly shook his head. "I don't know. I guess... I guess not really." Sabrina slowly nodded, wrapping an arm around Stiles' shoulder as she led him to an empty hospital room. "All right, kiddo. All right. Come with me. It's okay."

She slowly led Stiles to the bed as she grabbed the blank file the door to fill out. "So, what's happening to you?" Sabrina asked, moving the chair beside the bed right in front of Stiles.

"Blackouts. But not for that long. And sleepwalking, which I used to do a lot as a kid. Um... Also having some really bad anxiety." Stiles said, watching as Sabrina wrote down all of his symptoms. "Panic attacks?" Sabrina asked, slowly looking up at him only for Stiles to avoid eye contact and nod. "Yeah, a couple. Oh, and I temporarily lost the ability to read. But that might have had more to do with this giant magic tree and a whole human sacrifice thing."

Sabrina squinted, nodding her head as she smiled, hoping to lighten the mood. "I think I remember something along those lines, yes." After Stiles didn't laugh, Sabrina sighed. "How many hours of sleep are you getting?"

"Eight." Stiles quickly answered, making Sabrinas brows raise. "A night?"

"In the last three days. Yeah, definitely eight." Stiles quickly replied, making Sabrina frown as she stood up from the chair, walking towards the cabinets as she continued to ask questions. "Been feeling irritable?"

"Yeah. Possibly to the point of homicide." Stiles said, rubbing his eyes, making Sabrina raise her brows sarcastically as she searched the cupboards "Great." She mumbled as she turned to look back at him. "Inability to focus?"

"No, the Adderall's not working." Stiles mumbled, shaking his head. "Impulsive behavior?" Sabrina asked, looking back to the cupboard.

"More than my usual?" Stiles asked. Sabrina nodded, her back turned away from the boy as she tried to find what she was looking for. "Hard to tell." Stiles answered again.

Sabrina, finally catching a pattern, sighed, shutting her eyes as if it would help what she was thinking not be true before opening her eyes, continuing to search the cabinets. "Vivid dreams during the day?"

"Okay, basically all of the above." Stiles snapped tiredly. Sabrina let out a quiet cheer, finally finding what she was looking for. She turned to Stiles and held up a small shot. "Do you trust me?"

Stiles turned to look at her at her question, his eyes going wide at the shot in her hand. "When you're not holding a needle." Sabrina tilted her head and Stiles sighed, nodding his head as if to say he trusts her. Sabrina slowly walked towards Stiles, placing the needle in his arm as she looked at him. "It's midazolam. A sedative."

Stiles' eyes went wide, shaking his head. "Why'd you give me a sedative?" Sabrina gave him a soft smile. "Because you, Stiles, are one profoundly sleep-deprived boy. You need all the rest you can get. Lie down." Stiles nodded, going to lie down as he furrowed his brows. "Okay, how long's it take to... Oh. Not long at all." Stiles mumbled, yawning, making Sabrina chuckle.

"Get some rest." Sabrina whispered, combing some hair out of Stiles face as his eyes slowly started to close. Sabrina quietly grabbed the clipboard, not wanting to disrupt Stiles. As she walked out of the room, she heard him quietly whisper to words, making her smile. "Thanks, mom."

...

Chris sighed, slightly annoyed as he rolled his eyes, hanging up the phone. Allison turned to her dad beside her, worried. "What is it?"

"Katashi won't do the buy in person." Chris grumbled, making Isaac snicker. "But he's a paranoid recluse. Shouldn't you be a little less surprised?" Stephanie turned to Isaac, tilting her head. "I don't think you're helping much." Chris looked up at the rear view mirror to see Stephanie and Isaac in the backseat as he nodded. "I was trying to remain optimistic that we wouldn't have to go to my plan B."

"Plan B? And what's plan B?" Stephanie asked, her and Isaac slightly sticking their heads in between the two front seats. "How tall are you?" Chris asked, turning around in the backseat to Isaac as he popped up the trunk of his car.

The four slowly got out of the car and walked towards the trunk. Chris slowly pulled out a suit, handing it to Isaac before grabbing a long rolled up paper. He turned to Isaac and pointed at the suit. "You change into that." Isaac nodded as Chris turned to the girls, nodding his head to the front of the car. "You two, follow me."

The girls followed Chris to the hood of the car as he unrolled the paper in his hands. "What is that?" Allison asked as Stephanie crossed her arms, watching Chris open the map onto the hood. Allison quickly nodded as her question was answered and Chris pointed at a small box on the map. "Katashi's office is here... This is where we need to go."

"Guys." Isaac announced, making the three turn their heads as he walked out from behind the car, in a suit. "This isn't going to work. I look ridiculous. I mean... I look like I just stepped out of the last period of a catholic prep school. And there is no way that I'm going be able to remember all this. I mean, what does this even mean? 'Revolving over and under barrels?'"

Chris sighed at Isaac's rambling, glaring at him slightly. "All you have to do is keep them talking long enough to allow us to get inside and find Katashi. He may not be there for the buy in person but... He won't be far."

"You look great." Stephanie said, giving a small smirk to Isaac. He turned to Stephanie with a 'really' look before looking down at his suit and back up at Steph. "I am sweating, all the way through my jacket, Steph. I didn't even know that I could sweat this much."

Stephanie sighed, turning to Allison and Chris. "Can you guys give us a second." The Argents slowly nodded, walking to the other side of the car for privacy.

As soon as they were far away, Stephanie walked towards Isaac, grabbing both of his hand and looking up into his eyes. "You can do this." She whispered. Isaac looked at her for a few seconds before shaking his head, looking down.

Stephanie looked down to go over his look and scoffed. "God, why did you not tuck this in?" She whispered, a small laugh passing through her lips as she tucked in Isaac's shirt for him. Once she finished she grabbed the edges of his blazers, popping them out a little bit as she looked up at him. "Go in there with confidence and all they'll see is a boyish looking man."

Isaac sighed, looking off at the ground. "Or a stupid teenager pretending to be a man. By a bunch of Japanese fingerless mobsters-" Stephanie cut him off, cupping his cheek and pulling him into a kiss. Isaac instantly kissed back, wrapping his hands around her waist to pull her closer.

Stephanie slowly pulled away, twirling her fingers around the curls on the back of Isaac's head as she looked at him. "How do you feel now?"

Isaac looked down at Stephanie as a big smirk grew on his face. He removed his hands from her waist and cupped her face, pulling her face towards his for another kiss. Stephanie's eyebrows raised in surprise, kissing back.

Isaac slowly pulled away, popping the collar of his button up as she smiled at her. "Oh... I'm ready." Just as he was about to walk away, he stopped. He turned around to Stephanie and took the sunglasses off her head, putting them on his face. "I could use these..."

Stephanie laughed, pushing him towards the doors. "Go get em, tiger." Isaac smiled, waving as he walked away. "Love you!"

Stephanie smiled as she watched him walk into the building. She walked towards the Argents and as soon as they saw her, they straightened up. "He's okay?" Allison asked and Stephanie nodded, pointing to Isaac walking in. "He's justttt fine."

The three waited for Isaac to get all the way in when Stephanie's eyes widened. "Holy shit." She whispered, making Allison turn to her in worry. "What? What's wrong?"

Stephanie watched the doors Isaac walked in as she let out a small exhale. "He said he loves me." Allison squealed in excitement, shaking Stephanie's shoulders. "Oh my God! Steph! This is great!"

"Girls. Girls. As important as this conversation is, we need to get inside so your boyfriends not dead meat." Chris said, slightly annoyed. Allison turned to Stephanie, squeezing her hand as Stephanie nodded.

...

"All I want to do is talk." Chris said, raising a gun at Katashi as the man held one right back at him. Katashi raised his chin higher, glaring at Chris. "Taking out my security is not what I would call a good conversation starter."

"You don't remember me, do you?" Chris asked as Stephanie and Allison crept out from behind Katashi. Chris turned to the girls, nodding his head. "Stephanie, take his gun."

Stephanie immediately stepped up, wrapping her powers around his gun and throwing it out of his hand and across the floor. Katashi's eyes went wide at Stephanie's bright purple ones. "A kanay..." The man whispered as Chris walked to stand next to Stephanie, his brows raised. "Now, can we talk?"

"Guys?"

Stephanie's eyes went wide, whipping her head to the sound of Isaac's voice. She swallowed the lump in her throat at Isaac locked in a bigger mans hold, the mans claws right on Isaac's throat.

Isaac turned to Stephanie, sighing. "They have a werewolf too."

Stephanie slowly turned to Chris, almost asking if she could do anything and he slowly nodded in return, making her turn to the man holding Isaac down. She slowly wrapped her powers around his claw against Isaac's throat.

She quickly made the man remove his claws away from Isaac's throat before pushing him away completely. The man tumbled back a few steps, his eyes wide as he looked at his hand before turning to Stephanie. Isaac ran to stand by her as the man went to march towards them until Katashi rose his hand, signaling him to stop. The man huffed, crossing his arms as he glared at Stephanie and Isaac.

Chris sighed, turning to Allison and nodded. Allison's reached into her bag and pulled out the box with the mask, handing it to her dad.

Chris slowly opened the box, showing it to Katashi. The mans eyes went wide as he slowly picked up the box, looking it over. "Starting to remember? It was 24 years ago." Chris said and Katashi let out a small gasp, finally recognizing Chris.

"You know what they are, don't you?" Chris asked. Katashi slowly closed the box, handing it back to Chris. "They're called Oni. They are demons. And they are unstoppable. At least no man-made weapon. The Oni are a force of nature. You don't fight a tsunami. You endure it. And you hope that you're not destroyed in its path."

"Then how do we endure it?" Allison asked and Katashi slowly walked towards Stephanie and Isaac. Stephanie's eyes started to glow purple, worried about what he might do. Katashi rose his hands in surrender as he slowly moved to Stephanie and Isaac's side, pointing at the markings behind their ears. "Two of you already has. This is Japanese kanji for "self". This means they are still themselves. The Oni are looking for one who is no longer themselves."

"What do you mean no longer themselves?" Stephanie asked, taking a small step towards Katashi, making him turn to her. "Possessed. By a dark spirit." Katashi said, raising his brows at Stephanie, making her eyes go wide.

"There are 13 kinds of Kitsune." Katashi said as he started to walk back and forth in front of the four. "Celestial, wild, thunder, forest. But there is one, a dark Kitsune. They call it void. Or Nogitsune. A kumicho. That's right. He was possessed by a Nogitsune. It's what helped him rise through the ranks of our Yakuza family. Nogitsune draws its power from pain and tragedy, strife and chaos."

"Do you know why I'm missing this finger?" Katashi asked. "Penance." Chris said, almost instantly, making Katashi nod. "There's a ritual called Yubitsume. Removing the joints of the little finger weakens your grip on a sword. When a katana is gripped properly, the little finger is the strongest."

"Why did they take your finger?" Isaac asked as Katashi looked out the window in front of them. "They didn't take it. A Yakuza performs the ritual himself and offers it to his superior." He said, turning around to face them as he continued. "It was penance for a mistake. And it wasn't my only one... I don't know what it was about the way I moved or stood that suggested to them that I was going to take them on. Because actually I was... Preparing to run for my life."

He turned to Chris and nodded. "That shot you fired saved me from looking like a coward before the survivors. For that humiliation, I wouldn't have to have given up my finger. I would've had to give up my head."

"I wish I could give you the answer you need, Mr. Argent. I owe you more than my life. I owe you my honor. I will tell you one thing, however. If there is a nogitsune among you... Let the Oni destroy it." Katashi said before slowly turning to Allison. "Even if it is your own daughter."

...

Sabrina was walking towards the main lobby after checking on Stiles to see if he was awake and as soon as she got into the lobby, she was bombarded by Melissa and Scott wheeling in a bleeding Rafael. "Oh my God. Melissa!"

"Hey, stab wound to the left chest. Possible collapsed lung. Pulse is weak." Melissa filled Sabrina in. The doctor nodded, wheeling him towards an OR when she heard Scott speak to Melissa. "I'll find Stiles."

Sabrina turned to the two McCalls as she wheeled Rafael, pointing to the waiting room. "Will's in the waiting room. Take him with you? He's been in here all day."

Scott nodded, running towards the waiting room where Will sat, his head in his hands as his leg bounced nervously.

"Will." Scott called out, making Will's head shoot up. He quickly got out of his chair and walked towards Scott, throwing his hands in his pockets. "Hey."

"I'm gonna go check on Stiles. You coming?" Scott asked and Will instantly nodded. "Yeah. Yeah. Lemme show you to his room."

Scott followed Will as he walked towards the hospital room his mom said Stiles was staying in when a loud thud from a O.R. they were passing made Scott and Will freeze. They slowly looked inside through the window of the door to find Stiles standing in the middle of the room, motionless with his back towards them.

The pair slowly walked into the room and both instantly grew confused on how Stiles still hadn't turned around.

"Stiles?" Scott called out but Stiles stayed frozen, his back facing the two boys. "Stiles, you okay?" Will asked and Stiles finally turned around, a small smile on his face. "Yeah, fine. What's been going on?"

...

After talking with Katashi, Chris drove Stephanie and Isaac home. When they walked in, they were all alone, James and Sabrina still at work with Will at the hospital with Sabrina.

Stephanie slowly closed the door, staying by it as Isaac walked in, sighing. "Well, looks like we have this place all to ourselves." Isaac said, turning beside him to look at Stephanie to find her not beside him, he turned around to see her right in front of the door, staring at him.

"Everything okay?" Isaac asked. Stephanie let out a small exhale, pulling her lips into a line. "You don't remember what you said, do you?"

Isaac's face scrunched as he walked towards her. "What do you mean?" Stephanie looked back and forth between Isaac and the ground before answering his question. "You uh... you said you love me."

Isaac's eyes widened as he made a small 'o' shape with his mouth. When he realized Stephanie was a little in shock, Isaac cupped her face in his hands, moving her to look up at him. "Is that okay?"

Stephanie slowly started to smile, nodding her head. "Yeah, yeah. It's fine." Isaac smiled, rubbing the pad of his thumb on her cheekbone. "I love you, Stephanie." He whispered.

Stephanie smiled, feeling a small flutter in her chest as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "I love you too." Isaac smiled at her words, pulling her into a kiss. He pulled away and let out a small chuckle. "It's a good thing you do because this would've been really awkward."

Stephanie laughed, shaking her head as she leaned in. "Shut up." She laughed out, pulling Isaac into another kiss.
