holden pov
It had been over a month since sectionals, and both girls had hit six months pregnant the midwife had let both of them know, that by this point the babies would be able to hear talking and so everyone had taken to talking to both Asher and bubba, who's name was yet to be decided
Finn and Puck had also worked on their friendship, and were in a much better place than they ever have been Noah, acknowledges that Finn was Quinn's boyfriend
but he never overstepped the fact that Puck was the baby's dad Noah was happy for his baby girl, to have so many people that cared for her when she wasn't even born all the glee girls were sat in the choir room, Quinn and Holden talking about their babies and how they will be raised as siblings.
"Can I ask you guys something private?" Rachel questions the glee girls, Holden nods. She found the girl annoying at times, but if she curbed that she would be an okay person. "Yes, you should move to Israel." Santana deadpans.
"It's about dating." Rachel explains, "not that I'm dating anyone we all know that for the sake of the team, I broke up with Jesse." Rachel says quickly earning strange looks from all the girls and making Holden want to talk to Rachel without everyone else.
"But let's just say I was dating someone let's just say, hypothetically, we went to a Wiggles concert, last Friday night, and then because my dads weren't home, we went up to my room and started making out It was erotic and romantic.
and then he said, we should do it what if then he got really crabby and left and didn't even take home the care bear I won him playing skee ball? because I said no" Rachel rants and Holden exchanges looks with Quinn
"Would you please stop talking? you're grossing out my baby" Quinn snaps, "be nice" Holden whispers and squeezes her hand and Quinn nods pregnancy had made Quinn very bitchy, while it made Holly more empathetic to others.
"I just want to be ready I know I'm getting older, and these things are gonna happen someday but how do I stop a guy from getting mad at me for saying 'no'?" Rachel questions.
"Just do what I do never say no." Santana deadpans.
"Oh, totally. I mean, what's the worst that can happen?" Brittany than turns to the two blondes across from her. "Sorry, Quinn and Holly." She says before looking back at Rachel.
"Bunny," Holden says softly, "no need to say sorry. Yeah, I'm pregnant. It wasn't planned, but I don't regret what happened with Mase. I lost it to someone I trust wholeheartedly, if you want my advice Rachel. Lose it when you are ready, not when society or others tell you to be ready." Holden advises, before she sent the girl a soft smile.
"Look, girl, don't ask me. The last guy I liked was the mayor of gay town. And I can't wait to get a guy mad at me for saying no" Mercedes speaks up.
"We just have to accept that guys don't care about our feelings. Like, the other day, I was walking with Artie, and he totally objectified me" Tina explains. "That's got to sting."
"Hey, guys. I'm sorry to interrupt your little sorority, couldn't help but overhearing. Are you really having that much boy trouble?" Mr Schue questions.
"You wouldn't understand, Mr Schue. You're a guy" Quinn reminds him. "Well, then maybe you should talk to someone else about it, like Miss Pillsbury" he offers.
"I tried that" Rachel explains turning to him.
Before he can reply the bell shrills overhead
"Miss Pillsbury is sweet and everything but Mr Schue she is really uniformed in most areas that teens need help in" Holden explains.
"The fact is, is that women still earn 70 cents to every dollar that a man does for doing the same job. That attitude starts in high school" Quinn explains as the girls all trail out of class.
Before leaving the class Holden turned to Rachel, "Rachel after school do you want to go to that vegan restaurant with me? I'm craving some vegan pizza," she asks and the girl looks surprised before nodding.
Rachel met up with Holden once school ended and went with the blonde to her car, "you can connect you phone to the aux if you want," the blue eyed girl offers, "I do not mind a bit of broadway if that's what you want to play" she adds smiling.
Rachel smiled at Holden, and connected her phone the two singing along to the music as they drove towards the restaurant, before soon they arrived and both got vegan pizza and homemade lemonade.
"Why are you being so nice to me?" Rachel asks and the pregnant girl saw how hesitant she was to ask, "because it looks like you could really do with a friend right about now."
"Are we friends?" Rachel questions, "we could be" Holden offered, "Rachel I'm going to be brutally honest. You are a sweet girl but really overbearing," she said and Rachel just nodded,
"you need to mellow out and I hope to help you with that."
Rachel laughed but agreed, "do you want to continue the talk we had in the choir room with the other glee girls?" Holden asks as the drinks arrive, and she smiles softly to the brunette.
"And I promise I won't tell anyone," she said.
"I'm still with Jesse," Rachel admits, "I really like him but because he's older than me. He's a lot pushier and very adamant about what he wants, he wants to move at a faster pace than me, and I'm scared if I say no I will lose him."
"Rache," Holden says softly "if Jesse can't accept you are not ready he is not worth it. Can I ask how your whole relationship with him restarted?"
Rachel nodded, "he understood I'd chose glee over him, and so he persuaded me that we could keep dating as long as we kept it hidden from the club."
"And because it's hidden you can't talk to anyone about your issues. Rachel, it sounds like he's using the fact the relationship is secret as a way to be a dick" Holden said bluntly.
"But I don't think anyone else would ever be interested in me, when there's people like you, Quinn, Santana out there. I'm a broadway obsessed reindeer sweater wearing bitch," Rachel says sadly and gestures to her outfit.
"Your styles cute," Holden tries but sees her face, "okay I get what you are saying, it's childlike but workable. Would you want to look into branching out style wise?" Holden asks honestly intrigued, because she loves shopping way too much.
"I'd want to keep aspects of my current style, but only things like the plaid skirts" Rachel offers and Holden brightly claps her hands together as the pizza's arrived.
"Let's do a shopping trip," Holden said happily,
"I want to buy things for bubs and myself. We can go to your house first, go through your current clothes and figure out the new Rachel Berry" she says smiling. "And I promise you will find somebody, it may be Jesse but it could be somebody else star" she adds.
Following the pizza place, Holden drove to the Berry house and went to Rachel's room with the girl and took in the childlike room. "Your rooms cute," Holden offered, "Winnie the Pooh esque," she adds and Rachel laughs.
"I'm redoing it on the weekend, has been in the plan for years but not sure what I want to do" she shrugs and Holden grins, "thank god because if I'm going to spend time in here it needs to be less sunshine" she said seriously.
"So where's your closet?" The blonde asks and Rachel leads the girl into a walk in closet and grimaces. "I'm going to grab a Gatorade, you like the blue one right?" Holden nods and begins going through the clothes.
Some of it was cute, and seeing aspects she could see where to take Rachel's style. When the brunette arrived back she was carrying two drinks and some clothes baskets. "I see you fitting in with a light academia, with some Parisian influence and hopeless romantic aspects style?" Holden says and Rachel nods very happy with that description.
"Outside of broadway, what type of music do you like Rache?" Holden asks as she bought out her Spotify account, "I like Hozier, the Lumineers and the 1975" Rachel offered and Holden nods knowing which playlist to play immediately.
The two work together going through the many clothes, some were put in the donation baskets, others were put in the memories that she wanted to keep. Like an outfit she wore for a certain audition and then the final baskets were just to get rid off immediately.
Before they went to the mall complex and went to many a different shops. Rachel getting herself a iced coffee, and Holden a smoothie as they went around. With baby stuff being picked up, the few bits Holden needed herself and the clothes for Rachel as well as stuff for her new room. It was a fun day, and by the end both girls were a lot closer than they once were and considered each other friends.
"What comes to mind when you see that name?" Mr. Schuester questions as he motions to the white board where he's written 'MADONNA' in sloppy lettering.
"Genius" Kurt responds. "Icon" Holden adds clapping her hands together. "Hall of Fame
MILF" Puck speaks up earning an eye roll from some, and at a laugh from Holden who was sat with her head on Mike's shoulder.
"So, we're all aware of Madonna's musical and cultural significance, which is why this week your assignment is to come up with a Madonna number" Mr. Schue announces earning cheers of delight from the girls and Kurt.
"Uh, Mr. Schue? As a dude, Madonna makes me kind of uncomfortable" Puck speaks up earning a few looks from the girls.
"Yeah, she's good and everything, but can't some of us do something else? Like the guy version of Madonna? Like, you know, Pantera?" Finn questions, as the boys murmur their agreements.
"Guys!" Mr. Schue shouts. "You know, it's come to my attention that many of you haven't been treating the young ladies of our group very nicely lately. You're disrespectful, bullying, sexist and- I hate to say it- misogynistic." Mr Schue says.
"I agree to some of that but it's not all of them, so don't do the lecture in general" Holden points out and some of the girls nod in agreement- it's an issue but not fair to blame all the guys.
"I have no idea what that means" Finn speaks up, "misogynistic is someone who hates women because they are women. So, I honestly don't believe the boys are that there are some who are chauvinist. Which is men that believe men are superior to women and therefore deserve better treatment."
"Yeah, chauvinism is a better way to describe them. Misogyny is very different Mr Schue" Quinn put in.
"My assignment this week, is for you guys to put yourself in their shoes for a change" Mr. Schue explains, "and we'll go with chauvinist instead then."
"Artie could be seen as misogynistic though, with the way he treats Tina" Ouinn mutters and all hear her.
"Culturally, Madonna's legacy transcends her music, because by large, the subtext of her songs are about; being strong, independent and confident no matter what your sex. But more than anything, Madonna's musical message is about equality. And that is something i think you guys need to work on" Mr Schue lectures.
"Mr Schue, I don't think we can have an honest conversation about Miss Ciccone, without acknowledging that her images are as indelible as her songs. I would like to honor her contributions by tackling, a multimedia project with Mercedes," Kurt speaks up. "Great. go for it, Kurt" He says with a smile.
"I'm down. I want to educate myself more if I'm having a daughter, so are any of you lovely ladies willing to help educate me on what woman face?" Puck speaks up.
"We will be glad to educate you Noah," Rachel offers, "but first" she begins as she gets up and begins a performance to 'Express Yourself all the girls getting up and performing alongside her.
The glee club were all sat around when Holly and Rachel walked in together and everyone saw the difference in Rachel. "Since when has this been a thing?" Mercedes asks.
Rachel smiled, "after the girls meeting me and Holly went to a vegan pizza place and well-"
"We're friends," Holden says simply taking
Rachel's hand and leading her to sit next to her as she took a seat by Matt. "Rachel is a great person, you just need to see past the-"
"Selfish tendencies," Rachel put in self aware,
"I'd like to apologise to all of you. Since I was a four year old ballerina, um performing has kind of been my life? It was something I was good at, and got positive attention from my dads because of. And I tend to try and assert my talent, because it was one of the only ways I got attention from them" she offered. "Still is," she continued sadly
"they were too busy for a daughter but they made sure to go to every performance and I guess it ingrained in me the only way I would get their affection was by performing-All of you are amazing and so talented, but I craved the attention and I am truly sorry. I will still be competitive, and if I think a solo is best for me I will go for it. But I won't be a stage hog anymore, and yeah" Rachel trails off.
All in the Glee club take in the information and can see why Rachel was the way she was, "you know that makes everything about you make sense" Mike said softly, "I'm really excited to see Rachel and not the show version of you" he said and she smiled at him thankful.
"Can I just say I'm digging your new style girl,"
Mercedes compliments with a bright smile that
Rachel returned.
"Holden took me shopping and all of my old stuff is gone. This is a more mature version of what I was already wearing" the brunette said happily.
"Shopping," Santana said, "and I wasn't invited?"
"We should do a glee girls day," Tina offers and all seven girls exchange nods and the boys all took deep breaths, "they are going to team up now aren't they?" Matt put in causing everybody to laugh.
Rachels new style
