Silent Pain.
Oh boy did Cedar snap.
Apparently they chose to have an argument while he was busy working and he almost hurt someone. He excused himself once a spark escaped him. The others didn't really stop him, but the owner got to his side.
"Shh..." Cedar trembled as he soaked the man's sleeve. A few others in the cafe watched them from inside as Cedar apologized. "It's not your fault. Could you please go escort them outside?" He nodded as he cleaned his face before going back inside.
"Excuse me, but I'm going to have to ask you guys to leave."
"But-"
"Just go."
Normally he would continue to let them try to make it better, but he was long gone from that. After they left, he went to the back and sat down. His fellow colleague, Aby, went over with a small plate.
"Here." He looked at her before seeing a small pastry. He paused as she smiled. "You need it." He smiled as he took it.
"Thanks Aby..." The boss joined them with a small smile.
"You good now?" Cedar nodded a little as he ate the pastry.
"Mhm. Much better." The boss smiled.
"Good. You shouldn't have to be put down like that all the time. I know they're your teammates, but if I have to be the one to start making a difference for you and this town, I will." Cedar gave a soft smile at him.
"Thanks sir." He then stood up as he finished the treat. "Now... let's finish this shift in peace."
^~*~^
At the tavern, Cedar was too busy to deal with them the second time. They tried to talk to him, but another female got to him first. And her request was more important than theirs as he almost dropped a glass.
"Angel Shot." He locked eyes with the other guy at the bar, who had also heard that. Cedar quickly pulled himself together.
"Yes, just down here." As soon as she had gone with him to the side, he dropped his voice. "Where?"
"Four guys in the back. One of them stirred something in my other drink." He nodded before he led her to the back.
"You stay back here until they leave, ok?" She nodded before he closed the door and went back to the manager. After a quick exchange, he returned to the bar and chuckled as his partner had taken the Dexters on. A female went up to him with a pause.
"Have you seen my friend? She was just back there, but the guys said she came up here." Cedar smiled before whispering into her ear.
"She just asked for an Angel Shot. She's in the back." The girl nodded before going over to the Manager. Finally he spoke to the conversation that was beside him.
"Will you guys go find something more important to do? Like finding the Impostor?" Lapis frowned.
"You've been avoiding us."
"First of all, there was an emergency. Not avoiding."
"What do you call the Cafe?"
"A misunderstanding of patience. Now for the love of all that is holy, go find something to do."
A group of them figured out that he was going to hurt them and left. Crepe didn't move as they left. Cedar sighed before glancing at his barmate and moving in front of him.
"Not going to join them?"
"I'm ignoring Dijon."
"What happened?" He looked up at him as he sighed.
"Nothing-"
"Crepe."
"Just-" He finished his drink and left, causing a grumbling mess from him. Cedar purred at that.
^~*~^
"What?"
Scrappy watched him as he wrote up an article for the news station. He had been busy all day and finally found peace in the basement.
"Something's wrong. Crepe doesn't do that."
"I know. But I haven't figured it out either." She hummed as she eyed him.
"So now what?"
"I'm going to snap their heads off." She stopped as he sighed. "All 5 bosses gave me the go ahead to keep them quiet." She gulped.
"I'm glad I swapped..."
^~*~^
Crepe was unaffected by Cedar's actions when he snapped. Each time he brought his foot down, Crepe paid no attention while the others had to go.
However, once at the bar, well after the others left, two officers entered. Cedar noticed his actions changed. He grabbed a newspaper from a table and turned away from the two men as they approached the counter.
"Excuse me, have you seen this man?" Cedar scanned the picture before shaking his head.
"No... why?" The first officer hummed.
"He's been seen breaking into the country and countless other things." Cedar hummed.
"Sorry. I'll keep an eye out for him." The officer nodded before he left with his partner. Cedar then looked at Crepe, who watched the duo leave. The newspaper was placed down delicately and Cedar noticed he took a steady breath. He then left, slipping out and disappearing.
^~*~^
Cedar trembled as he sat down. He had to work overnight and got caught in the fight. Scrappy's voice echoed through the night before someone went to his side. He had curled up into a ball in that time.
"Cedar?" He didn't recognize the voice as they touched his shoulder. "Stay with me..."
"Who..." They said nothing as they picked him up and carried him somewhere.
^~*~^
Cedar woke up to lying down in the bedroom, Purple at his side. Concern washed over the impostor's face as he touched his shoulder.
"Cedar?" The caster sat up as he paused.
"Huh?" He then remembered what had happened. He hadn't healed up from it either. He was going to get the first aid kit when he noticed his leg in a cast and other bandages. Confusion washed across his face as Purple spoke.
"We found you up here, wrapped up."
"Who's we?"
"Me, Midnight, Scrappy, Pink and Scarlet. Forest and Oat are at work." His blood ran cold. Then who was talking to him in that alley?
"What about-" He stopped. Midnight and Purple were looking for him, which means the Impostor and Controller weren't. He couldn't answer as he laid down.
^~*~^
It happened again with Midnight when he was the Controller. Someone mysteriously saved him, healed him, and got him to safety. Cedar held him close as he rested.
^~*~^
Blake visited them later. It alerted Scrappy when it was learned he was alone.
"Who left you on your own?"
"I kicked Lapis and ran." Purple slapped a hand over his mouth as the others stared. Pink blinked.
"You what?"
"I kicked Lapis and ran." Cedar didn't have the brain to respond as Scrappy went on a muttering rampage. "Why's it bad?"
"No foreigner is to be solo-"
"I'm from Qent." Purple froze.
"Woah woah woah... Qent?" Blake shrugged.
"Yeah. You learn how to kick someone in the gut while dodging bullets. Now, we need to talk." Cedar shook his head as he headed for the stairs.
"Forget it." Instead of going down, he headed upstairs for some quiet. He stayed in the bathroom with silent tears before a gentle knock touched the door.
"Cedar... please?" He sent some magic to open the door as he splashed his face with water to clear his face up. Blake touched his shoulder as he sighed. "Cedar... I know what's happening and I know how to fix it. Please?"
"Do what you want... Just please..." Blake let him cry into his shoulder as he trembled.
