SHOULDN'T HAVE SAID THAT
The next morning, Harry woke up to the sound of metal clanging together. He opened his eyes and saw Madam Pomfrey standing by the edge of the hospital bed hitting two spoons off of each other.
"Good morning, Mr. Potter," she greeted with a tired smile, setting down a tray of food on his lap, "You should be alright to go back to your dormitory, although, I thought it would be easier to let you sleep in a little longer and get served breakfast here."
Harry sat up and stretched, making sure to not spill the tray of food on his lap. He looked down at the tray to see oatmeal with banana and cinnamon, a tall glass of milk, four sausage links, and a vial of greenish liquid. He picked up the vial and turned it over in his hands a few times before looking over to Madam Pomfrey with a questioning look.
"That vial in your hand is a nutritional supplement potion. When you were first brought here after that fall you took, I did a full body exam and noticed that you're underweight and lacking a lot of the nutrients you need to function properly. It may not taste like pumpkin juice, but I expect you to take that potion everyday at breakfast and dinner. I'll know if you don't, young man, so don't even think about trying to skip out on it," she informed him, giving him a stern look.
Harry gulped and nodded, opening the vial and sniffing the contents. He grimaced and looked back at Madam Pomfrey. She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms. Harry sighed and knew he had no choice put to take the foul smelling drink. He pinched his nose and took the potion in one go, gagging slightly as it went down.
"There, now that it's done and over with, you can enjoy your breakfast and then head on back to go greet your friends," she told him, taking the empty vial and walking away.
Harry then chugged his glass of milk to get rid of the taste of the potion and hungrily tore through his breakfast. He then changed into a his school robes, which were folded neatly on a chair beside his bed. He wondered how it got there. Probably magic, he thought. When Madam Pomfrey came back to check on him, she gave him a satisfied smile. Harry returned the smile and cleaned up the bed area, returning the tray to Madam Pomfrey. He thanked her and then set off towards the Slytherin dormitories.
As he was walking down a corridor that led to a staircase to the dungeons, he crossed paths with Hagrid. He was carrying a small basket and looked very happy to be bumping into Harry.
"'Arry! I was jus' comin' down to see yeh. It's good to see yer walkin' 'round jus' fine, then. Here," Hagrid said, handing a basket to Harry, "I baked yeh some of me famous rock cakes! I remember you and Draco goin' through a lot of 'em the las' time the two of yeh visited."
Harry accepted the basket and smiled up at Hagrid.
"Thank you, Hagrid. It was good to see you," Harry said.
"Of course! An' why don' you an' Draco come down to me hut for a cuppa. Haven't spoken to the both of yeh in a bit"
Harry agreed and thanked Hagrid again, continuing down his path. When he walked down to the dungeons and into the common room, he was greeted with a big hug from Pansy.
"Oh, Harry! Your fall gave us all quite the scare! It made me realize how precious life is and how we have to treat every living moment as if it were our last!" She exclaimed dramatically. "That's why I decided that the two of us should spend the afternoon together! I would love to bond with you so if you ever do die tragically, I can say that I knew you personally."
Harry patted her back and pushed out of the hug, awkwardly chuckling and raising his eyebrows. He found it very odd that Pansy was acting the way she was as she normally ignored him or rolled her eyes at him.
"Thanks, Pansy, uh, I guess it would be nice to hang out for the afternoon-"
He was cut off by Pansy hugging him again. She let go quickly when she realized she was choking him and giggled.
"C'mon'" she said, taking his hand and dragging him up to the first year girls' dorms. Harry's eyes widen and he tried to resist Pansy's strong grip.
"Pansy! It's against the rules for boys to go into the girl's dorms!" He yelled, feeling his face go slightly red.
Pansy looked sideways at him and smiled.
"Yeah, but as long as the other members of the dorm are okay with it and you have good intentions, you're permitted to enter," she told him.
Harry nodded warily and followed her into the dorm. He was surprised to see that he was easily able to walk into the dorm without any resisting force pushing him out. He remembered Blaise telling him about the time he tried to sneak into the girls dorm to set up a prank and how there was some invisible barrier keeping him from entering.
He walked in to see the same layout that the boys dorm had. Except, there were much more posters up and more trunks/bags by each bed. To his left, Millicent was getting her hair braided by Daphne while Tracey braided Daphne's hair. To his right, Lily was reading a book with a stuffed bear under her arm. They all looked up at Harry when he arrived and either nodded or greeted him.
"Girls, I was thinking that we show Harry how to braid and teach him about basic gentlemanliness. Merlin knows we need more guys like that," she said and smiled when the rest of the girls gave enthusiastic responses.
Harry chuckled nervously and sat down in the circle the girls formed. They all started off by teaching Harry how to do a simple three strand braid on Lily's hair and then how to French braid on Pansy's hair. Surprisingly, Harry was good at braiding and actually found it quite calming. After the braiding session, Pansy gossiped with him and taught Harry how to compliment correctly and taught him basic gentlemanliness and manners. As the time came closer to dinner, the kids were all joking around and either reading magazines, or making flower crowns.
"Wow, Harry," said Lily, "You're very good at making a flower crown. It looks lovely!"
Harry thanked her and went back to weaving the flowers together along the wire. He noticed that the flowers were real and still fresh. He wondered where and when they were picked.
"Hey, Daphne, where'd you get the flowers and why are they still fresh? It's too cold for flowers to still be growing."
Daphne looked up from weaving her own crown and smiled at Harry.
"My Mother sent them in through owl post when it was still warm outside. My younger sister and I use to always make flower crowns when we were small, so she sent in a basket of flowers from our garden with a preservation charm on them so they wouldn't wilt and I wouldn't feel homesick," she told him, returning to her weaving.
Harry nodded and turned his crown in his hands. He had just wove the final flower through the wire and he was very happy with the results. He placed the crown on top of his head and smiled. Daphne smiled back at him and put on her crown. Tracey and Pansy put theirs on as well.
"Well, it's time to go down and get some grub," said Millicent, tossing her Quidditch magazine off to the side and getting up.
Everyone else got up too and they all headed down to dinner together. Millicent slumped an arm over Harry and chuckled softly.
"I don't usually like any of those gross, frilly, gossipy sessions those girls hold, but I have to admit that it was entertaining," she told him.
Harry agreed and ducked out of her grip, skipping happily with the rest of the girls. He, too, enjoyed the afternoon he spent with the girls even though he found the girls' behavior a little off.
When they arrived into the Great Hall, they all sat down in their respective spots. Harry sat down next to Draco and greeted him. He looked up at the flower crown he was wearing and then down back at Harry.
"First of all, where have you been all afternoon? Theo and I went up to the hospital wing to visit you and when we saw you weren't there, spent a good hour running all over the castle in search of you! Second of all, why are you wearing a.. Flower crown?" Draco asked, his face a mixture of anger and confusion.
Harry blushed in embarrassment at the thought of how ridiculous he probably looked with a flower crown on and then launched into the tale of what he did that afternoon. After he finished speaking, Blaise slammed the table and pointed at Harry.
"No fair! I try to go into the girls dorm, I get thrown back and land on my arse. You try to go into the girls dorm, and you come out with a flower crown and a smile. How in Merlin's name did you do it?" He demanded.
Harry put up his hands in defense and shrugged. Pansy then rolled her eyes and turned to look at Blaise.
"That's because you were under the intention of sneaking in and pranking us in the dorm! Harry here was allowed in by us to relax and gossip," she told him cockily.
"Oh no you don't Parkinson," Draco said to Pansy with an air of annoyance, "You are not turning Harry into a gossip. I don't need two blabbing mouths trying to squeeze information out of me to spread around the school."
Pansy crossed her arms and stuck her tongue out at Draco. Draco rolled his eyes at her.
"Real mature."
Finally, dinner appeared on the table and Millicent, Vince, and Greg had no hesitation as they dove into the food. Draco, Theo, Pansy, and Tracey gave them a look of disgust while Lily, Daphne, Blaise, and Harry laughed. Harry turned to his plate and started to grab a bread roll when a green vial appeared next to his utensils. He groaned and chugged the potion, ignoring the questioning glances his year mates were giving him. When he put the vial down, it disappeared into thin air.
"Uh, what did you just drink and why?" Theo asked, eyeballing the place where the vial vanished from.
Harry quickly drank some pumpkin juice before answering Theo.
"Madam Pomfrey is making me take some kind of nutrition potion along with my breakfast and dinner. Apparently, I'm not as healthy as she would like," he answered, piling food on his plate.
Theo nodded and went back to his food. Draco raised his eyebrows and nodded in satisfaction, turning back to his own food.
Towards the end of the meal, Harry remembered his confrontation with Hagrid earlier in the day. He nudged Draco and asked him to come with him to Hagrid's hut.
"I don't know, it's getting dark and-"
"We need to talk to him about our theories about Snape and Quirrell! Ooo! Hermione should come along, too," he interrupted before rushing off toward the Gryffindor table.
Draco sat there and pinched the bridge of his nose. He felt himself becoming more adventurous since he first met Harry and he was still trying to decide if it was a good thing or not. He sighed, and got up to go over to where Harry and the Granger girl were. They let her gather her books to put in her bag, and set off to Hagrid's hut. They all lit their wands with lumos and eventually made it to the hut. Harry knocked and they heard a banging and clattering as Hagrid opened the door for them. He welcomed them inside and then started up a kettle.
"I brought along my friend Hermione, Hagrid. I hope that's alright," Harry said, gesturing to Hermione.
Hagrid handed them all a plate and placed a rock cake on each one. He then took the kettle of the stovetop and started to prepare the tea.
"Of course it's alright, 'arry. Any friend o' yours is a friend o' mine," He told Harry, grinning as he poured them all a cup a tea.
Draco blew on his tea and looked up at Hagrid.
"So these two have come up with a theory about Professor Snape and Quirrell and we need your insight on the whole situation," said Draco.
Hagrid sat down in his enormous chair and looked down at the three kids before him, stroking his beard.
Harry told Hagrid his theory about Quirell and Snape. After he was finished, Hagrid went to say something before he was cut off by Hermione.
"And why is there a Cerberus in the castle? Isn't that dangerous?" She asked.
Hagrid slammed his hand onto the table and looked down at the three kids.
"How do you know about Fluffy?"
Draco snorted and put down his tea.
"It's named Fluffy?"
"Yeah- he's mine- bought him off a Greek chappie I met at the pub las' year- I leant him to Dumbledore to guard the-"
"Yes?" Harry said eagerly.
"Don't ask me anymore, now," Hagrid said gruffly, "That's top secret that is."
"But we want to make sure Quirrell or Snape or whoever isn't trying to steal whatever Fluffy is guarding. One of them tried to kill Harry!," Hermione told him.
"I'm tellin' yeh yer wrong!" said Hagrid hotly. "I don't know why Harry's broom acted like that, but a Professor wouldn' try an' kill a student! Now listen to me, all three of yeh- yer meddlin' in things that don' concern yeh. It's dangerous. You forget that dog, an' you forget what it's guardin', that's between Professor Dumbledore an' Nicolas Flamel-"
"Aha! Cried Harry, "so there's someone called Nicolas Flamel involved, is there?"
Hagrid looked furious with himself and quickly ushered the kids out of his hut, saying something about curfew starting. The three kids walked towards the castle with more questions than they originally came out with. Harry got Draco to agree to come to the library with him and Hermione the next evening to discuss the new topic of interest: Just who was Nicolas Flamel?

Hello! Thanks for sticking with this book so far. It really means a lot to me you don't even know. So the art at the top is, unfortunately, not mine. Also, I pulled some dialogue from the books for Hagrid's hut scene with him blabbering out information haha. Well, have a happy whatever. Love ya.
