Epilogue

Four months later

February

Harry

"Bubs here comes the plane." I made a noise but he just stared at me like I was crazy. "Dude, it's a chicken noodle, how bad can it be?" I put the spoon in my mouth and almost threw up. "Fuck that's gross."

"Fuck." Clear as day, Harrison said his first word besides mama or dada.

"Oh fuck your mummy is going to kill me." I shook my head.

"Fuck." The twins were now about to be nine months in a few days. Today was my birthday so Jane wouldn't kill me today, but she'll definitely do it tomorrow. She told me a million times not to cuss in front of the kids anymore and now Harrison knew how to say fuck. "Fuck."

"No bubs, bad word." He looked at me and began yelling.

"Da da da! Fuck!" My eyes widened.

"Harrison! No!" I looked around and found his little cookie snacks. They were for babies and his favorite. He watched them carefully as I pulled one out. "Ooh you like the cookie don't you baby, say cookie." He shook his head. "Say cookie and I'll give you two." He began drolling. "Same kid."

"Cc-co!" I nodded.

"Cookie, say cookie." He began yelling gibberish when I heard the front door open. Jane walked in with Daisy and I groaned.

"Honey I'm home!" Jane walked in with groceries. Daisy held a bag in her hand and I quickly got up to kiss Jane. "Morning." She kissed my lips. "What are you boys doing?" She cooed at Harrison.

"Just eating breakfast, Violet is still sleeping." She giggled kissing Harrison.

"Cookie." He mumbled.

Jane gasped. "Did you say cookie, oh my gosh!" I sighed in relief. He giggled as Jane began kissing his stomach. "Finish eating, mommy has to start making food for daddy's dinner tonight." She handed him back to me and I sat him down on the high chair.

"Good job bubs." I put my hand up and he giggled grabbing it. "My son always has my back." He smiled.

By the afternoon Jane had made dinner and a bunch of appetizers for all our families. My mum was in town and so was my dad and brother.

It would be the first time my mum and brother would meet so I was nervous. "Baby taste this and tell me if it's too spicy." I walked over and Jane popped something into my mouth.

"Is that hummus?" She nodded. "Did you make that, it's good." She cheered. "Keep it away from the kids though it's a bit spicy." She agreed.

I looked her up and down and smirked grabbing her ass. She turned around and got close to me. "I am going to have my way with you tonight, you are not going to want to leave that bedroom." She whispered.

"Mm, promise." She nodded.

"I have to make up for last year, and for the lack of kisses these past few months." She kissed my neck. The doorbell rang and she pulled away. "Later."

I nodded walking over to the door. I opened it and both Robin and my mum stood there straight from the airport. "Hi mum, Robin!" I helped them in and hugged her, shaking his hand.

"Happy birthday darling." I smiled big. "Where is Jane?"

"Uh, in the kitchen, listen, mum, I know you get concerned about her, but she's been better since the last time you saw her. Just don't talk about it." She nodded.

"Will her mother be coming here?" I nodded.

We walked in together and Jane smiled going up to hug my mum. "I'm so glad you're here." She hugged her tightly.

"How are you?" My mum asked the question that had some back story and Jane felt that.

Jane took a deep breath. "Better, each day it gets easier." My mum pushed her hair back and pinched her cheek. "It's just the first party since everything and I just want to have a nice time." She nodded.

"Well let me see the babies, and then I'll help you in here." She walked over to the rooms and Robin followed.

I took their bags to the twin's rooms where they were staying and came back to find Jane looking out the window. I sighed and walked over to put my arms around her.

"I'm fine." She promised. I've heard those two words so many times, it's hard to believe.

"Do you want to take a minute alone?" I asked gently.

She shook her head taking a deep breath. "I'm okay, it's been three months. I need to learn to be strong right?" She patted my arm.

"Baby-"

"I'm fine." Her timer went off and she sighed. "Pigs in a blanket are done, excuse me." She opened the oven.

As every one of our friends and family showed up Jane set everything outside where she got tables so we could all sit together. Considering we didn't do anything for Thanksgiving this past November, it had that type of feel to it.

"Jane everything looks so good." Her sister said to her. Jane just smiled and thanked her. "Kind of looks like we're having Thanksgiving."

"That's what I was thinking," I told Phoebe. I looked at Jane and she paused looking down at the food. "Baby?"

"I need a minute." She turned around and went inside the house. I quickly followed behind her as she made it all the way to our room and broke down.

"Jane." I walked over to hold her.

"I'm okay." She cried into my arms.

"No you're not baby, it's okay let it out." I rubbed her back.

"I just miss him, Harry." She sobbed into my arms.

After our New York trip, Jane's father Charles kept saying he wasn't feeling well. By Thanksgiving, he had been having a bad cough and decided he needed to go to the doctor. He promised Jane, who was the most concerned, that he would after Thanksgiving.

Two days before he had come over to our house with a turkey. He was laughing, talking, and having a great time when suddenly he had a pain in his arm.

He collapsed on our kitchen floor and Jane called 911. At the hospital, he was on breathing machines for two days. He couldn't talk much, but Jane stood by his side until the day after Thanksgiving when his heart gave out and he quietly passed in his sleep. He was surrounded by his wife, Jane, and her siblings.

"Jane, what did your dad say before he passed." She sighed.

"We have to keep moving forward." She said quietly. "I know." I kissed her head.

"Baby, it's okay to feel and cry. But you have to remember that he wouldn't want you sad about everything. He'd want you to be strong, okay?" She nodded. "I love you."

"I love you." She kissed my cheek. "Tell me a joke?"

I chuckled. "I'm running out. What did one ocean say to the other? Nice to 'sea' you."

She laughed. "You're right, you are running out of them." I put my arm around her and kissed the top of her head.

"Come on, let's go eat." She nodded getting up and walking with me towards the kitchen.

I sat between Jane and Daisy as we ate. "Okay, how about we all go around and say our favorite memory or story about Harry." Jane's mom said making me smile. "Sweetpea you go first." She told Jane.

Jane swallowed her food and thought about it. "Umm, one of my favorite memories is probably our first night together at our old house. I was pregnant and we were falling asleep and he whispered 'Jane, will you marry me?' And I said yes."

"Awww!" Everyone said together.

"Of course he proposed with a ring a few days later." She joked. "But that was the best day." I pouted and leaned in to kiss her cheek.

"I have a story to tell." I suddenly hear five people down. "As Harry's best friend I have all the dirt," Louis says.

"Bro there are kids at the table and my parents," I warn him. He just smirks.

"My favorite memory was our road trip to Chicago, thirty-one hours non stop and Harry said I love you for the first time." I rolled my eyes. "We made love in the fields of Iowa-"

"Louis!" I shook my head making everyone laugh. "For the record, we did not do that in Iowa."

"You're right we were in Kansas." He said with a serious face.

"Okay, enough talking about you two doing stuff. My favorite memory is the first time I talked to Harry on the phone." Phoebe smiled.

How could I forget?

Flashback

Jane. Jane. Jane.

How could I not ask her to be my girlfriend? It was her birthday today and I haven't even called her. She was pissed at me no doubt about it. I'll call her tomorrow, she was probably busy today with her family.

My phone started ringing and my eyes widened at the number. It was her. "Hello?"

"Hello, Harry." I raised an eyebrow.

"Jane?"

"Nope this is her sister Phoebe, listen here you son of a bitch. My sister likes you, now I don't know you and I don't know your story, but you better stop dicking around and ask her out if you feel the same way. Or not I'll go to your house and cut your balls off." I gulped. "Got it."

"Yeah, is she there at her house I need to tell her that I do care about her." I scratched the back of my neck.

"Meet us at Tino's in an hour, I'll text you my number and you text me when you're outside." I nodded. "Hello?"

"Fuck- okay I'll be there. Does she hate me?" She groaned.

"No, you idiot, just come and bring a gift." She hung up and I quickly ran to Louis room to find a nice button up shirt. I was going to ask her to be my girlfriend.

End flashback.

"I don't want to say I'm the reason they're together, but I'm kinda the reason they're together." Phoebe joked. "Oh, by the way, happy anniversary you guys."

My brother who sat across from me raised an eyebrow. "It's also your anniversary?" He asked.

I chuckled. "Our anniversary of being married. Our wedding anniversary is in August and our regular anniversary is September 23rd which is also Jane's birthday."

"Why would you double up on special events bro?" He asked.

"Kill two birds with one stone." Jane and I answered together.

Four years later

June

I lifted up a box and carried it into our new house we had just purchased. Daisy walked beside me holding her box of art supplies. "You okay toots?"

"Yeah, just glad to have my own room." She shrugged. She was almost ten years old and a replica of my sister. "Violet keeps using my special pencils for shading."

"I'll tell her to stop, but she's five, kid, she just wants to be like you." Daisy shrugged walking towards her room upstairs. Harrison sat on the couch playing with my tablet and doing a puzzle. "Bubs where is Violet?" He looked up at me.

"In the kitchen with mommy." I walked over and the closer I got the louder I could hear Violet screaming.

"No!" She yelled.

"Violet, you need to wear pants!" I walked in and Jane stood there rubbing her temples. "Harry control your daughter." I kneeled under the table where Violet was pouting with only her underwear and shirt on.

"Violet, come here." She crawled out and I picked her up. "Why don't you want to put pants on?"

"Daddy I don't like pants!" I shook my head.

"Well, it's not very princess-like to not wear pants. Are you a princess?" She nodded. "And does a princess run around in her underwear?" She shook her head. "So?"

"Okay, I'm sowwy." She pouted.

I set her down and helped her put on her pants. "Now, the next time I hear you yell like that at mommy I'm giving you a time out and no T.v. or tablet." She nodded. Of all my kids Violet was the most ill-tempered. She was aggressive and loud. She is, according to my mum, an exact replica of me as a child, so I knew how to deal with her. Jane sighed looking at me. "Go say sorry to mummy." She ran over to Jane and apologized.

"I'm sowwy mommy." She pouted.

"Okay, apology accepted, go put your toys away in your room." She nodded picking up her barbies and running towards her bedroom. Jane groaned rubbing her back.

"You okay baby?" She gulped.

"Yeah, fine just tired." I kissed the top of her head. Jane had gotten a new job working as a private teacher for kids. She would go to different kid's houses who were either bedridden or homeschooled. With work and the new move, I could see why she was exhausted.

"Do you want a hot bath, I'll lock up these kids in their rooms." She giggled.

"No, I think I'm getting old." She teased

"Thirty-three is not old." She shook her head. "You still look damn sexy." I grabbed her ass. "I'm gonna lock up these kids in their rooms, daddy needs some lovin' right now." She giggled leaning in to kiss me. I lifted her up on the counter and she moaned quietly as I kissed her neck.

"Daddy! Violet is using my pencils again!" I heard Daisy yell.

"No, I'm not!" Violet screeched. I pulled away from Jane who pouted.

"Give me a second." I kissed her nose before walking out of the kitchen. "Violet go to your room, Daisy, learn to share with your sister!" I yelled. "No one is allowed to scream in this house but daddy!" The two girls immediately stopped fighting, each going to their rooms. Harrison looked up from the couch and smiled at me.

"Daddy, can I have juice please?" He handed me his cup.

"Sure bubs, come on." I walked with him to the kitchen.

Things were so different now.

I was asleep when I rolled over and felt no wife. I opened my eyes and sure enough, I was alone in bed.

I got up and heard someone in the kitchen downstairs. All of our bedrooms were upstairs so I checked on the girls and Harrison who were all fast asleep. I walked down the stairs and into the kitchen where Jane was pacing from one side to the other. "Are you alright?"

She looked up and shook her head. "I want chicken wings." I raised an eyebrow and looked at the time on the oven clock.

"Baby it's two in the morning." She rolled her eyes.

"Harry. I want chicken wings, my back has been hurting, I'm moody and I've gained weight." She said slowly.

"Okay?"

"My periods late." Okay, now I get it.

"Are you pregnant?" She shrugged. "Holy shit."

"I don't know, it might be menopause?"

"Janine you're thirty-three, not fifty, chill." She sat on the kitchen floor and looked up at me.

"Can you go buy me a test, I need to know." She asked. I took a deep breath and nodded going back upstairs to get dressed.

Within twenty minutes I was back home with five tests. Jane was drinking a gallon of water waiting for me. We went upstairs and she sat there opening them to get ready. "Well go ahead," I told her as I sat on the edge of the tub.

"I can't pee with you here, I get stage fright."

"Baby we pee in front of each other all the time, just do it." She shook her head. "Ugh fine I'll be in the room." I kissed her and walked out.

She walked out a minute later and said it was two minutes for the results. She sat beside me and took a deep breath. "What are we going to do with another baby?" I chuckled putting my arms around her.

"Raise it as our own and when it's eighteen release it into the wild." She smacked my chest. "Come on, a baby is a blessing, I told you I wanted one more." She shook her head. "Would you be upset if we had another one?"

"No it's just, four kids Harry, it's a lot. It was that weekend alone last month I swear I told you I wasn't on birth control and you just kept saying 'I'll pull out.' Fucker." I laughed.

"Don't act like you didn't ride me and call me daddy, you know how that gets me." She giggled leaning against my arm. Her phone went off for her alarm and she took a deep inhale.

"You go check." I stood up, grabbing my reading glasses, and walked with her to the bathroom. I picked up the first test and there it was.

"Minus means not pregnant?" She looked slightly disappointed. Secretly I know she wanted another baby.

"Yeah." She pouted.

"Okay good, so the plus-" I turned the test to show her the little pink plus sign. "-that means pregnant." She gasped.

"Read the other ones!" I lifted up test two and smiled.

"Pregnant." She squealed. I lifted up the third test. "Pregnant."

"Oh my god!" She jumped up and down. "The last two." I lifted them up and smiled big.

"Baby girl, we're having another baby." She began crying and jumped into my arms. She held me close and I hugged her. Suddenly she began kissing me all over.

"Fuck I need you, take off your pants." She kissed my neck and I quickly took her to the bedroom.

Two years later

November

I sat on the couch feeding our baby girl her bottle. She kept scratching my arm so I had to roll her up in a swaddle. If you told me a few years ago that I would have three daughters and a son I'd probably laugh in your face.

Dahlia Rose was born on January 20th. She was a gorgeous little girl with brown eyes and dark hair like Violet. She would be our last baby since Jane had a complication during birth and had to have a c section. The doctor recommended she does not have any more, and honestly, it wasn't a big deal. We are done having kids, Jane and I want to travel when we get old.

Harrison laid beside me watching cartoons and Violet was coloring on the floor. Jane was out with Phoebe and her mom, dress shopping for Phoebe's wedding.

After how many years Phoebe and Lisa were finally having a wedding.

"Daddy!" I heard upstairs.

I stood up and put Dahlia in her swing. "What happened?" I called from downstairs.

"Is mom home yet!" She asked. I walked up to the stairs and opened the door of her room, empty.

"No, Daisy, she's on the way. Where are you?" I walked past the bathroom and heard her crying. "Angel, what's wrong?" I said through the door.

"I-I- something happened and I need my mom." She cried.

"Well, what happened?" She sniffled opening the door. She stood there awkwardly. "Are you okay?"

"I got my period."

There are moments in life when you feel like something shifts. Change in a hairstyle, new clothes, a child, or becoming a vegan. But the moment your little girl, the piece of you that you raised and love with all of your heart tells you she's a woman.

Well, that just fucks up your whole day.

"Oh." I scratched my head. "Did you, use a pad." She covered her face. "Hey Daise come on kid don't be embarrassed, your mother gets her period I know some stuff." She looked down.

"I changed my clothes, but I have pains in my stomach." I nodded.

"Alright go lay down and I'll get you a heating pad and some medicine alright?" She nodded.

"Thanks, dad." I nodded kissing her forehead. She went to her room and I sighed.

It was so much easier when she was five.

By the time Jane got home, the twins were in bed and Daisy was in the shower. I had Dahlia on the bed as I combed her curly hair. "You are going to have hair like daddy." Jane walked in and smiled. "Hi, baby." I kissed her. She bent down and kissed the baby.

"I'm sorry I'm late, Phoebe is a bridezilla." I chuckled. "How were the kids?" I looked at her and let out a loud groan.

"Daisy got her period." She gasped. "She knew what to do, but I gave her some pain meds and a heating pad." Jane smiled.

"Oh poor baby, I'm going to go check on her. Welcome to hell Harry, I got my period two days ago." My face dropped. "Oh my god, you have three daughters, I am so sorry." she laughed.

Four years later

Jane and I have been together for fifteen years and had four beautiful children together. Our whole relationship and life as parents have to lead us to this moment.

"Okay, when I set this timer we all have ten seconds to get ready, Dee is with daddy and all of you need to stay still and smile." Today we were taking our annual family photo at the beach. Daisy was on her phone so I quickly took it away.

"Dad I'm texting someone." I looked at her.

"I don't care, this is important." She huffed but smiled at the camera.

"Ready?" Jane asked. She pressed the button and ran over to stand beside me. The timer went off and took our photo. "Okay nobody moves!" She ran back."

"Mommy's weird." Violet jokes.

"Yeah, but that's why I love her." I smiled at my love.

She looked at the photo and cheered. "We did it!" All the kids cheered.

"Momma, can we go play?" Dahlia asked.

"Yes go play." They ran off to play with the sand and left us there. Jane sat on the ground and watched as the kids all picked rocks and matched them up to each other's eyes. Jane had taught them that and now all the kids had a small collection of rocks at home.

I smiled reaching into my pocket for a little box. "I love you, Jane." She smiled at me and kissed my cheek.

"I love you more, baby." I leaned in and kissed her lips.

"I have something for you, did you know that fifteen years ago you and I, sat right around here and we hung out for the first time." She nodded. "Well, I got you something to remind you of one of the best days of my life." I opened the box and inside was a necklace that had a pebble-shaped like a heart.

"It's beautiful." She gasped.

"It's the rock you gave to me Jane." Her jaw dropped. "I had it shaved down and made into a little heart." I pulled the necklace from my own neck that matched it. "I have one too."

"That's so sweet, I can't believe you did that, I love you, Harry." She put her arms around me. "I can't believe you kept it all these years. You are so sweet." She kissed me and I hear all the kids.

"Eww!"

"Oh shut up!" Jane laughed as I put my arm around her. Dahlia came running over and showed me a rock.

"Look, daddy, I found rocks." I nodded.

"Woah, this matches my eyes?" She nodded. "You look just like momma, beautiful girl." I kissed her forehead.

"Daddy I love the beach, tell me how you took momma here." I heard Daisy and the twins groan.

"Ahh, I love that story, sit around children daddy has a story to tell. It was the summer of 2017 when I decided to get my life together and met-"

"The most beautiful girl I have ever seen," Daisy repeated. I squinted my eyes.

"She let me borrow a pencil, but can I tell you a secret-" Harrison said.

"I didn't need one!" Violet laughed. All the kids laughed. Jane giggled putting her head against my shoulder.

"Oh, that's it!" I stood up. All the kids began running around while I tried to catch one of them. I could hear Jane laughing as I tripped on the ground and all the kids began tickling me.

Days like this made me glad I kept going. My life wasn't perfect, but it sure was close as long as I had them and the love of my life, Jane.

The end.
