Chapter 6: Oliver and François
Your Pov:
After properly introducing yourself and speaking for about ten minutes to mostly Allen and Zao, while the others listened, your phone rang.
"Oh crap" you muttered.
"Hello?" You asked after placing the phone to your face.
"Hi honey, um, where are you? You aren't home yet. You aren't lost are you?" Your mom asked.
"Huh? Oh sorry, I guess I lost track of time. I'm not lost, I'm actually close to home so I'm okay. Do you want me to come home now?" You asked.
"Yes please, dinner is finished and we don't want you out too late right now" Mom replied.
"Alrighty, I'm on my way then" you replied, and hung up after saying goodbye.
"Alright guys. I have to leave, if you all could do me a favor, please don't scare or appear in front of my family without me knowing, and try to stay out of the deeper parts of my territory. The edges are okay, but nowhere near my house. Bye!"
Before waiting for a reply, you shifted forms and ran off, leaving the others to wonder what just happened.
After arriving at home and shifting forms, you ran inside to take off your boots.
"I'm back!" You called.
"Hi sweety," your dad called back.
"What's for dinner again?" You asked.
"Cheesy ravioli" Your mom said from the kitchen.
You smiled, albeit slightly forced, and sat at the kitchen table.
"So, how's the forest?" Your dad asked when the three of you gathered around the kitchen table.
"Its pretty, that's for sure" You replied.
"No offence, but ever since you were a little girl, you always played in the woods rather than going out with friends. Heck, you went into the woods more often than watching tv and the other things most kids do. Why do you like the woods so much?" Your mom asked.
Knowing she was right, you thought about the many reasons. There was, well, the obvious one, and then others.
"Its...peaceful. I feel...wild and free in the woods. I prefer the vacancy and natural calm feeling of the woods rather than the suffocating smells of people" You replied.
"Smells?" Your dad asked.
'Oh crap' you thought.
"Well yeah. Everything has a smell. Like how in spring or early autumn there's a humid rainy scent. Or how the air smells like crisp snow in winter. That kind of thing" you shrugged.
"What does that have to do with people though?" Your mom questioned.
"That should be obvious," you commented, "people...well, they stink. Both metaphorically and literally. Most girls smell like makeup, and tons of perfume. Boys smell like sweat and colone. Don't even get me started on the peple who I walk by that either haven't taken a shower in three days, or those who smell like drugs, sex, and alcohol" I groaned, scrunching up my nose in disgust.
Your mom and dad were silent for a few moments before laughing.
"W-what? What's so funny?" You asked.
"Nothing, nothing, it's just you. I completely agree with you though, it was the same for me when I was your age, and it gets a bit worse through college. But after that, it goes away. We just...we wanted to make sure you're okay. You have always been a more private person, only trusting your best friend. And with the move, we just feared that you were trying to avoid us..." Your mom stated.
"Oh...that... actually has never crossed my mind. I actually go out there all the time because I like to explore the woods" you stated bluntly.
Both your parents smiled
"That's good" your mom sighed happily.
3rd Person Pov:
"So almost all of us have met this new wolf, and we think you should too" Allen growled, trying to gain Matt's attention, when suddenly Oliver dropped in.
"Oh hello boys, what are you arguing about now?" He asked.
"There's a new wolf. She just moved here" Allen stated.
"She?" Oliver asked, raising a brow.
"Yeah. Most of us have met her. Unfortunatly none of us are her's. Which sucks, cuz she's hot." Allen chuckled.
Matt clenched his fists slightly, unbeknownst to the others.
"Where does she live?" Oliver asked.
"Over on the other side of the woods. I've visited there, and she was not happy with that" Allen chuckled.
"Has Matt met her?" Oliver asked, turning his attention to the other male who was facing away from them.
"She's in my math class. She has seen me, that's all" Matt sighed.
"Has she seen your eyes?" Oliver asked.
"Hell no, and she never will" Matt growled.
"Um, one, swear jar, and two, why not?" Oliver asked, holding out a small jar filled with coins.
"Because I don't want people seeing my eyes. Simple as that" Matt shrugged, placing a quarter in the jar.
"Why? There isn't anything wrong with your eyes" Oliver said, crossing his arms. Matt groaned in annoyance.
"Will ya at least let me have my own reasons?" Matt growled.
"That doesn't explain why you won't meet her though" Allen stated.
"In wolf form, she would see my eyes" Matt growled.
"Have you seen her eyes?" A new voice asked.
François sauntered into the room, bottle of beer in hand.
Matt didn't reply, he just shifted to where the others couldn't see his face. He knew they were starting to figure it out.
"Well? Have you?" Oliver asked.
"...yeah" Matt muttered.
The light bulb went off in their heads, and Allen chuckled.
"So what's the problem? Don't ya want to claim what's your before someone else does?" Allen purred.
"Allen, stop. It's his choice when to let her find out. Stay out of it, and don't even think about telling the others" Oliver demanded.
"Pfft, you think I don't know that? I'm jus' sayin' the others have been talking about her. I won't tell them, it's not my job, and I could care less" Allen scoffed, and with that, left the room.
Matt growled in irritation. Allen was really starting to piss him off.
"Matt, if she is yours, you have to tell her. I'm not saying do it right away, but don't push it off too long; otherwise, if she finds out, it may cause problems" Oliver said softly.
"That's not the case, exactly. It's not that I don't want to tell her..." Matt trailed off.
"Then what is it?" François asked.
"I just..." Matt sighed, unable to think, unable to explain. Of course, they understood right away.
"I see. You don't want to scare her off. That's understandable. Just, keep in mind that she will find out. We'll leave you to your thoughts now, okay?" Oliver asked, and lead François out of the room.
Matt sighed, then looked outside the window. Maybe a visit was in order.
