Six: Awakening

"If I open that door, will you try to escape?" Siren asks Midnight.

She smirks and folds her arms, leaning down to be directly in front of her Aunty, on the other side of the glass. "It would be tempting, I admit. But, no."

Karianna stares at her niece a moment more, before walking to the glass door at the side. "Are you sure?" Batmans asks, handing her a syringe. Karianna only nods, before unlocking the cell.

Siren pulls it open, steps inside and shuts the door. Midnight backs up to the opposite end for emphasis on their agreement.

Gently, Karianna takes Hana's arm and swabs her wrist, before extracting a small amount of blood from her. She then places a band-aid over the wound, stands and begins walking backwards.

Her eyes watch Neridian cautiously. Siren reaches behind herself and opens the door, stepping out swiftly. Batman quickly locks it after it closes.

After handing the syringe to Batman, she opens a purple portal behind her. "I need some things for the ritual," she says, before leaving.

"Oh," Neridian suddenly says. "The Speedster."

~

I wander around the white some more. And more. And more.

To be honest, I am filled to the brim in fear. What do I do with this thing in my hand? A packet of snacks Wally used to share with me?

A portal opens. I find myself staring into it numbly. Zatanna and I are walking nervously behind Megan and Conner. Our first day of High School, at HHH.

We're in the same homeroom as Alice and Ash. Alice grew an obsession with my hair and declared it her job to plait it everyday.

The memory freezes; I fade, and it is Zatanna's hair she fawns over. My best friend from school, my best friend in my year, without memory of me.

I frown when the portal suddenly snaps close, because the white around my begins changing. I look around to see the white scenery slowly being taken over by a blue palette of pale and dark blue.

"Hey, Girl Lantern," a familiar voice says from behind me. I spin on the spot.

When I see him, I feel a surge of happiness like no other. I drop the bag and sprint into the arms of Wally West. He laughs and hugs me closely as I grip the back of his shirt.

I gush out a string of words along the lines of apologies. He laughs and pulls away, covering my mouth with his hand like Tula had done.

"How did everyone take it?" He asks softly. Of course; seeing Wally will be different from the others. Wally only passed away recently. For the others it has been years.

"Artemis, Lily, Barry, Dick and your parents mourned the most. I also had to break the news to the fifteen-year-old Queen Perdita of Vlatava, who is traumatized..." I took his hands. "I, myself, still went to town that day, like I promised you," I finished in a whisper-like tone. "We all miss you."

His smile is small, but there is pain in it. "Did Richy-Rich cry?" He asks, referring to one of his nicknames for Nightwing.

"First time in front of me," I admit. "Artemis has taken on Tigress' mantle, but the good kind. Lily however refuses to train with Barry. Your mother hasn't left the house for some time, and both Impulse and Misty have taken on the responsibility for crime in Central City, seeing as Flash has not been around lately," I list carefully.

Wally sighs and pulls at his hair. "I have this gift thing for you...but can you do one thing for me?" He says, trying to smile in his old way. I nod, attempting to be brave.

"Just remind them all that I ... you know ... l-love them. Tell Arty not to...linger. Remind Barry it wasn't his fault. A-And tell my parents to take that holiday to Sydney."

When I nod and try to speak, it comes out as a distressed hiccough. Wally smiles softly and wipes a tear away. "Don't cry Hana," he whispers.

I sniff and wipe at my eyes furiously. "Uh, Wally. Why's everything blue? It was white before," I say, looking around. He shrugs dismissively.

"Here," he says, holding his hands out. A small chest appears in his palms. I take it from him curiously. "One of your previous gifts will provide you with the keys to open it," he says whimsically. Something comes to mind.

"Still don't believe in magic?" I murmur. He grins. Suddenly, he glances over his shoulder and I know he has to leave.

"Well, Girl Lantern; I know you'll take care of them," he says when he looks back at me. I stare up at those green eyes of his. They are scared. "And thanks for everything, Hana."

I close my eyes tightly as a bright light begins to flash. "Goodbye..." I whisper.

He puts a hand on the back of my head, leans forward and presses his lips to my forhead. I can not help but cry, knowing that I will never see him again.

That's when I hear him screaming.

"Wally..." I mumble, but when I open my eyes...

I am in a cell, in the Watchtower.

~

"I have everything. Fate, Aqualad, Zatanna, Twilight. I'll need your help. You're sorcerer energy should be enough," Siren says urgently when she returns. She drops to the floor in the middle of the Watchtower.

She draws a pentagram on the floor. Twilight understands and takes out five candles, lighting them all and placing them just inside the points of the star in the pentagram.

"Zatanna; you're Earth. Stand there," Siren demands. Zatanna stands on the Earth point of the star. "Fate; fire, here. Twilight, air; right there. And Aqualad, you're water. Stand there," she says, before standing in the center of the pentagram.

"Miss Martian. Levitate to me that goblet and the syringe." M'gann's eyes glow green and the two items fly towards Kariana. She takes the goblet and places it at the top point of the star.

She then fills the goblet with Hana's blood from the syringe. After throwing the syringe away, she straightens up.

When her eyes close, everyone holds their breath in anticipation. "I..." she suddenly begins, in a normal voice. When he eyes open, she speaks with a multiple, demonic voice. Her eyes glow yellow and none-existent wind blows through her hair.

"...am the Songstress Karianna. I unite the powers of air-" a white glow surrounds Twilight's form. Her eyes glow the same colour and she is lifted into mid air. "-fire-" the same happens to Doctor Fate, though around him and in his eyes is a red glow. "-water-" is is then Kaldur's turn. He glows blue like his eyes and joins the other two in the air. "-and Earth-" Zatanna is last to join the air, her form and eyes glowing green.

"-to free the memories locked away from the acquaintances of Hanabrie Kaira Shiloh, the Host and Light of the Midnight and the Emerald Star of the Green Lantern Corps! To you great Melisee, Songstress Goddess and Mother of all; we offer your the energy of four of the five, to return the fifth!" She announces.

Hana's blood begins rising from the cup. It swirls in different shapes, before splitting into five. The five pieces of red liquid hover above the members of the ritual.

"Water. Fire. Earth. Air. Return what the spirit has lost and deem all awakened from the sleeping memory of to whom it belongs!"

As she lists each elements, Hana's blood collapses over them, coating them in the red liquid. The coloured lights; yellow, white, red, blue and green, begin glowing so brightly that all watching block their eyes.

Everything suddenly stops, freezes; stills. All five in the ritual suddenly tighten their fists and open their eyes. The light from their eyes shoots out and straight at Siren.

It all swirls together in one glowing, great ball of energy that complete covers Karianna. It expands, becoming bigger and bigger, until eventually is envelopes the entire Watchtower.

Everyone watching closes their eyes again.

The light continues to expand, even reaching Planet Earth.

"Return what was lost!" Siren screams one last time. The light grows until it has completely covered the Earth.

With a shake like a small earthquake, the light disperses. They are granted with a short reprieve, before a second ball of light expands; from Siren, to the Watchtower, to the Earth. It happens multiple times, each time fading away.

Those who new Hanabrie Shiloh personally begin to feel their minds change. Any unaware of having lost the memory of her; her school friends, her brother, many Green Lanterns, plus any who were fans of the Emerald Star, were unaffected and simply go on, without the knowledge of ever forgetting her, but fully knowing who she is now.

In the Watchtower, the members of the League and Team who were aware of the loss greedily take the memories of her.

When the ritual is ended, all collapse from their position mid-air, covered in Hana's blood and exhausted from loss of energy. Many rush over to help.

"Did it work?" Siren asks urgently when Superman kneels down to help her.

"I remember her. Everyone else?" He calls out. He is greeted with a chorus of agreement.

"Not all of you," Siren begins, opening a screen and writing across it, allowing everyone to see.

"Miss Martian, Aqualad, Tigress, Superboy, Star Sapphire, both Green Lanterns, Viper, Destiny and Nightwing. You memories were not returned," she begins to explains why, but Doctor Fate takes over. Siren is more exhausted than anything.

"So we eleven are the most important to her?" Tigress clarifies.

"Actually, there were twelve of you. The late Kid Flash was also part of the mix," Nabu explains.

Their attention is drawn to Midnight, who stands in her cell clapping dramatically with a triumphant smirk on her face. "Well done, Aunt. But how-"

Her smart comment is cut off when a blue light flares from Hana's body. It smacks into Neridian, knocking her back into the glass cell wall.

Suddenly, Hana's -still unconscious- body rises in a blue glow. A single, noticeable tear rolls down her cheek. "Wally..." she murmurs, bringing the attention in close.

Her eyes open.
