(A/N - Okay so, I don't think I've ever done this before but OML this chapter was HARD AND FREAKING LONG TO MAKE 😩😩😩 you guys have no idea the amount of time and effort I put into this chapter alone! Chapter 71: Nia's Wish

"Naruto... what're you-"

"Shh, or they'll hear us, ya know." Naruto warned Nia as he covered her mouth with his hand as they hid in a dark alleyway.

"Dang! We lost sight of them!" Konohamaru suddenly appeared from the crowd with his two teammates as they frantically searched for the blond and Nia.

"Maybe they went to Ichiraku or something... Naruto's there all the time." Udon said as Konohamaru became frustrated.

"But wouldn't we have seen them if they did?" Moegi made a point, "Ichiraku is over that way. They would've had to pass by us to get there."

"They could've slipped pass us thanks to this crowd," Konohamaru replied, "but who knows? Maybe Udon's right? All right, you guys! Off to Ichiraku!"

In seconds, the three genin took off as they headed to the small restaurant. Meanwhile, Naruto breathed a sigh of relief as they left.

"Man, those three would've ruined our date for sure, ya know?" He removed his hand away from Nia's mouth as she turned around and gave him a look.

"What was that all about?" She asked, "You just suddenly yanked my wrist, pulled me into this alleyway, then placed your hand over my mouth. You scared the heck out of me."

Naruto sweat dropped and rubbed the back of his head, "Oh err... sorry about that. I did that cause those three are trouble."

"But they're just kids."

"Exactly..."

Nia sighed, "They can't be that bad."

"Trust me, you'd get pretty mad if they'd find out we're on a date. They would keep interrupting us non-stop, follow us everywhere, and bombard us with questions. We wouldn't be able to get away from them."

"Geez... it's that bad?"

Naruto nodded, "Yeah. That's why we need to stay clear from them, ya know?"

"I guess..."

He then noticed how close the girl was to him and how her bottom was touching his groin.

"Hey Curly Brow," He rubbed up and down her arms as he grinned, "After this date, maybe you and I can head to my place and get very comfortable."

"I don't know if I'd like to have you shoot inside me again, Naruto." The girl understood what he was suggesting.

"Aw, but you like when I do that to you, ya know?"

"Eh?!" Nia turned to face her guy, "When'd I ever say that?!"

"You didn't, but I can tell you enjoy it based on your facial expressions. It feels good doesn't it?"

Nia blushed, "No..."

"Why is your face so red then? C'mon, you know you like it."

"I always have to deal with the mess though... let's use condoms."

"But I can't feel you as good with those things on."

"Then pull out next time..."

"Curly Brow, it feels too good for me to take it out. I like cumming inside you."

"Geez, Naruto..." The girl became timid and shy, "You'll get me pregnant... I love making love with you and all, but... it's either pull out or wear a condom. Eighteen years is a long time, you know?"

"I'll pull out..." The genin hugged the girl.

"I'm trusting you to do so, okay?" The girl smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry."

"It's fine. I understand," Naruto then placed his hand on the girl's shoulder, "Hey, let's check out what's the rest this festival has to offer."

"Yeah," Nia smiled and nodded, "Let's do that."

And so, the two came out of hiding as they went on to visit many different attractions. During this time, Shikamaru, Sai, Kiba, and Akamaru had been following the two undercover as they enjoyed each other's company.

They watched the way they socialized, laughed with one another and seemed to have a good time. In particular, they payed attention to the way Naruto was acting towards the girl. The way how he made sure she wouldn't get lost in the crowd, the way he smiled at her whenever the two would make eye contact, the way he continuously kept hugging and holding her hand throughout their date, the way he gazed at her whenever she was or wasn't looking at him.

At the moment, the two were in a restaurant. They sat by a window where they had a nice view of the village. The place was rather fancy and the couple were sitting at a circular table with a red cloth over it and a candle lit on it. They were also across from one another as they were eating their dinner.

"Naruto, you really didn't have to take me anywhere fancy. Ichiraku was fine." Nia told the boy as she smiled to herself while looking down.

Meanwhile, the genin had his elbow on the table and his cheek on his palm. He was busy gazing, smiling, and blushing at the girl more than he was eating. In fact, he barely touched his plate.

'She's so cute,' He thought as he then watched the girl blow softly on her food, 'Super gentle too... Man... ever since I read that diary of her's, I can't get her out of my mind now. I mean, she was on my mind a lot before, but this is ridiculous. I can't stop staring at her. I think she's freaking beautiful! Why couldn't I see that when I first met her?! I'm such an idiot.'

"Look at... Naruto..." Shikamaru, who was with Sai, Kiba, and Akamaru, said with a bit of surprise in his tone.

The four were sitting at a close by table, disguised as regular villagers. They didn't wanna be spotted by the couple.

"Indeed," Sai noted, "It seems he can't keep his eyes off her. He looks like he's  really-"

"In love." Shikamaru finished as Kiba just got angry.

"That Naruto... he has the worst taste in wo-"

"Shh!" Shikamaru hushed the boy as Naruto began to finally talk.

"Curly Brow, don't worry about paying for anything. This whole date is on me, ya know?"

The girl lowered her chopsticks, "Huh? Are you sure? I don't mind paying for my things at the very least."

"No, last time you ended up paying for the date cause I had forgotten to pick up my ryo from Granny Tsunade. I'm sorry that happened by the way."

"No, it's fine. You don't need to fret about it. I'm just... really glad you spent time with me. It seriously meant the world to me. That was worth the thinning of my wallet."

"Man, I'm lucky." He suddenly breathed as Nia's heart skipped a beat.

"L-Lucky?" She repeated to which Naruto nodded.

"Pfft, lucky he says," Kiba snarled, "Who'd ever feel lucky to be with a girl who looks like that?"

"Apparently, Naruto." Sai answered.

"Kiba, why don't you keep quiet now please." Shikamaru responded.

The Inuzuka crossed his arms and glared at the kunoichi, "I'm just saying it as it is. I mean, Hinata's way better than this girl. She's good-looking! Naruto's an idiot for not liking her instead."

"Yeah, cause it makes so much sense for him to suddenly ditch a girl who knows and loves him with all her heart for someone he barely knows and faints when the two even strike a conversation just cause she's better looking. Yeah... I'd pass too."

"You got some nerve, Shikamaru!" Kiba became furious.

"Relax, relax..." The Nara boy leaned back in his chair, "I'm just saying it as it is."

Feeling mocked, Kiba began to snap. Meanwhile, Naruto watched as Nia's hand seemed to tremble as she was eating her food.

"Hey... you nervous or something?" He asked her as she became embarrassed.

"W-Why would you think that?" She replied.

"Your hand is shaking pretty bad," Naruto answered, "What's making you so nervous?"

Nia only looked up at him for a brief second before looking back down.

Because of this, Naruto formed a mischievous smile on his face.

"Ohhh I see," He said, getting out of his seat and sitting right next to Nia as she then began to freak out and scoot more to the right, "I'm who's making you nervous, huh?"

Nia didn't answer as her heart raced and face turned red.

"Hey Cutie," Naruto tried to catch the girl's attention as he placed his elbow on the table, cheek on his palm, and smirked, "Why don't you turn and give your hero a quick kiss on the cheek, ya know?"

"Naruto... now's not the time to be acting like a horse in heat."

"What the- why would you call me a horse, Curly Brow?" The genin complained.

"Hm?"

"Of all the things you call me, you choose a horse? Why? You know I'm a tiger." He then leaned into the girl's ear and whispered, "Especially in bed, ya know."

"Oh my goodness!" Nia finally faced him and began to giggle into her hands.

"Now that I think about it... I can see why you called me a horse," He smirked and wiggled his eyebrows a couple times before pointing a finger at his groin, "You're intimidated by my horse-like features, huh baby?"

"Ahhh my goodness! Ahahaha." Nia couldn't keep herself from laughing, "Why're you making me laugh so much?"

Naruto wrapped his arm around the girl and quickly had her zip over to him.

"I love making my woman laugh." He winked then continued to smirk as his cheeks became red.

"Well, you are really hilarious, honey."

"Cutie."

"Pumpkin.

"Sweetie." Naruto began to playfully rub his nose against Nia's.

"Sweetheart." The girl did the same to him.

"Cupcake."

"Chocolate."

"Ramen."

"Chicken." Nia said.

"Miso-pork ramen with naruto fish cake on the side." Naruto then became carried away with the thought of his favorite meal and began to drool.

"Ughh! Make it stooop!" Kiba groaned as he watched the two act weird toward one another, "My eyes hurt! My ears are bleeding!"

'Naruto is acting a little weird with this girl.' Shikamaru sweat dropped as he watched the two.

"I actually find this rather funny," Sai commented as he smiled, "I've never seen Naruto act like this before. Not even with Sakura."

As the dinner rolled along, Naruto and Nia eventually finished eating and went out to do some more things. Of course, everyone followed the two as they watched them share some cotton candy, dance slowly with one another, play some games, and even just took a break at a resting area to just talk and communicate. Naruto had been busy trying to make Nia's night as good as possible by buying her gifts and showering her with attention.

However, though she greatly appreciated all he had bought for her, she reminded him that it was he who she truly believed her greatest gift and that he didn't need to buy her anything. All she wanted was his love and affection.

By the end of the night, the two stood by a small lake that had dozens of lit up lanterns floating atop of the water. Its beautiful colors lit up the area in a romantic way. Naruto went over near a tree where he found a small container of ink with a brush inside of there. Picking it up, he then walked onto the lake and squatted as he began writing something down on a lantern.

"Naruto, what're you doing?" Nia asked as she watched him do this while still standing on the grass.

"You don't know what these are?" He smiled as he tossed the ink container to the girl then stood up with the lantern in his hands.

"I know they're lanterns, but why're you writing on them?"

"These ones are different from the ones you saw hanging on those strings in the village. They're called sky lanterns but I like to call them wish lanterns or prayer lanterns. If you write down a desire of yours and lift these into the sky, your wish is bound to come true, ya know?"

"Whoa," Nia became immediately intrigued and walked near the genin where she squatted and thought of something she wanted to write on her own lantern, "That sounds awesome. Hmm... what did you wish for?"

"Isn't it obvious? I wished for Sasuke's safe return to the Leaf!" The genin answered proudly.

Behind the two, some yards away hidden behind a bush, the four who were watching the couple discussed what was going on.

"Of course he'd wish for that." Kiba commented as soon as he had heard Naruto state his wish.

"I'm a bit more surprised he didn't write down becoming hokage." Shikamaru replied.

"I'm surprised a little too but I can see why he'd choose wishing for Sasuke's return instead." Sai gave his opinion.

"Man, I'm still surprised the guy is alive. I thought for sure he was gone." Kiba said, "Who would've guessed the guy faked his death? He must've really wanted Naruto to quit chasing after him."

"Shh." Shikamaru then hushed the boy, "They're talking."

"Hmm... I don't... know what it is that I wanna wish for." Nia said as she kept thinking hard to herself.

"Didn't you say you wanted to be something like Pervy Sage before?" Naruto replied.

"Huh?" The girl gave a confused look.

"You know... like how you wanted to write books like him or something along those lines and travel or whatever..."

"Oh! Yes, I forgot about that." Nia sweat dropped.

She then thought of his suggestion some more and shook her head.

"No. I'm not going to wish for that."

"Eh?! Why not?"

"Because that's something I'm going to make a reality someday. I know I'll be just as awesome at being a writer than the old guy himself."

"I see." The blond grinned, "And I'm going to be the best hokage that ever lived, ya know!"

"Yeah." Nia nodded, "That's going to be awesome to see. Hopefully you'll be the sixth."

"Right!"

Still carrying his lantern in his hands, Naruto then asked, "So then what're you gonna wish for?"

"...Beats me..." The girl sighed.

"Maybe you should wish for a prettier face." Kiba snickered behind the bushes.

Annoyed by his words, Shikamaru had Sai stuff a handful of dirt and grass in the boy's mouth as his shadow possession jutsu had the Inuzuka open his mouth wide for his meal. By this time, Shikamaru had long since let Akamaru off the hook as the dog began behaving himself.

"You'll have to breathe through your nose alone now. I'm sick of the insults, man." The Nara boy told the Inuzuka as he desperately tried to get the nasty taste out his mouth.

"How about... marriage?" They all then heard Naruto suggest another thing strangely.

"Marriage?" Nia repeated as she was curious as to why he'd suggest such a thing.

"Erm... well ya." He laughed awkwardly, "Back when we were traveling with Pervy Sage, you told me one time that you wanted to get married someday but were afraid that it'd never happen... I was just thinking you could wish for a very good marriage or something like that."

"You... remember that?" Nia felt a bit touched that the genin remembered something she told him so long ago.

With a slight blush, he softly smiled and nodded as the two began to reminisce that moment in time.

"Tell me, Naruto... did you like me back then?" Nia asked as she was about to write down her wish.

"I... I did flirt with you. I know that. I'm not sure, but I think I did or was beginning too. I mean I did like sharing that blanket with you, ya know." The boy answered with slight redness.

"Marriage..." Nia then thought out loud, "I got the best perfect wish now."

The girl next took her ink brush and began to scramble down her biggest desire with a smile. When all was done, she stood up with her lantern in hand as her and the genin decided to release them into the sky at the same time.

"All right! Let's get this started," Naruto began the count off, "One."

"Two." Nia then said.

"Three." They both say as they lift their hands up and allow their lanterns to float up into the sky right next to each other.

"So... what did you wish for?" Naruto then asked as Nia watched her and his lanterns go up into the sky.

"I wished for something that's much more important than having even my deepest desire come to life," The girl replied softly, "I wished for... your happiness... Naruto."

Upon hearing, Naruto's eyes slowly widened and quivered, "Y-You wished for my what?"

"I wished for you to stay happy," Nia said as she still watched the lanterns in the sky, "I wished for your deepest desires to come true. Like, how you wanna be hokage, or how you wish to not be alone, to be the best shinobi in the history of shinobi. I wished for all of that to become true to you."

"What?!" Shikamaru gasped from behind the bushes.

"No way!" Kiba was finally able to spit out what had been in his mouth and gasped at what he had heard.

"She gave up her own desires just so Naruto's could come true instead..." Sai said with a nonchalant tone.

"Curly Brow..." Naruto couldn't believe what the girl had said, "Y-You could've wished for anything. You only get to make a wish one time!"

"Yes?" The girl glanced at the boy from the corner of her eye.

"That means you could've used that wish on yourself, ya know? Why did you waste your wish on me?"

Nia turned to face the genin, "You... don't understand. It's my wish to have your dreams come true. It's my wish to see you happy. Every other desire I've ever had in my life doesn't even come close to how badly I wish to see you happy at all times, Naruto."

"You can't... be serious." The boy took a small step forward.

"I'm being dead serious." Nia watched as the boy was beginning to be moved with tears.

"Oh man, Curly Brow..." Tears began to roll down his cheeks as he didn't know exactly what to say or think, "You gave up having the chance to make your dreams a reality just so you can be even more positive mines will come true?"

"I already believed in you, but this helps me to be 200% sure those dream or yours will come true."

Immediately, Naruto pulled the girl to his chest and wrapped his arms around her tightly, "Curly Brow!"

Meanwhile, behind the bushes, Shikamaru watched as Kiba seemed to be conflicted about something.

"Why so quiet?" He asked the Inuzuka as he just stared down in thought.

"..." He didn't say anything.

Shikamaru looked to Sai who then gave him a thumbs up.

Is it possible... Kiba's starting to understand why Naruto cares for Nia. I hope so cause this all was such a drag....
