Chapter 28: Sakura and Lee

Inside of the Raikage's office, only the adults and a couple of the children were allowed in. Naruto, Sakura, Nia, and Lee were all asked to stay outside the room and building in general. The four walked outside as a group.

Naruto and Sakura were next to one another in the front while Lee and Nia followed behind them. Nia noticed how Naruto's and Lee's eyes were focused on Sakura and eventually Lee walked ahead of Nia and right to Sakura's side.

"Sakura, I was thinking that since we're here, we'd fetch something to eat." Lee practically asked the kunoichi on a date.

A vein appeared on Naruto's temple, "I hope you mean everyone is going to eat together and not just you and Sakura, Bushy Brows?!"

"Why of course I meant Sakura and I—You have Nia."

"Curly Brow doesn't want to date me, Bushy Brows!" Naruto grunted.

Nia sweatdropped.

I never said that...

Lee looked at the genin with a sympathetic look, "Then it is a sad day for you then, my friend. Sakura and I will eat till our bellies pop and run into the sunset while holding hands."

"How do we run into the sunset, Lee?" Sakura responded.

"Let your imagination run wild, Sakura."

Naruto scoffed, "And let's keep that imagination as is too."

He then smirked and crossed his arms, "Sakura doesn't want to go on a date with you!"

"Gyah!" Lee shrieked. He then took Sakura's hand and squeezed it, "Please Sakura, tell me that's not true!"

Sakura awkwardly smiled, "If you're paying then I guess I don't mind."

"SO YOU'RE GIVING BUSHY BROWS A CHANCE?!" Naruto flipped out.

Lee, on the other hand, seemed to be in lala land. His eyes sparkled as tears flowed like a straight line down his own cheeks.

"Oh Sakura, I knew you would go out with me one day."

Naruto glared at the black-haired boy.

This is a bunch of baloney! How could Sakura say yes to Bushy Brows but never me?!

The genin then thought of an idea. Quickly, he took Sakura's wrist and ran as fast as he could.

"Gyaa Sakura!" Lee freaked out and chased after his crush.

Nia watched as both boys fought over Sakura. Her eyes steadily focused on each word being said and each expression being made.

So when a guy likes you, they'll get possessive?

"DAMN IT, NARUTO!" Sakura became angry as Naruto wouldn't let go of her wrist after she constantly asked him to do so.

The girl's eyes glowed sinisterly and when she finally had enough, she used her free fist to ram it across Naruto's cheek. This caused the boy to drop her wrist instantly and skid across the street all the way back to where Nia was. Naruto's eyes swirled as he was clearly knocked out.

'That's brutal...' Nia thought as she looked down at the blonde, 'Is this what he meant when he said she sets him straight?'

"Sorry about that, Lee." Sakura apologized after cooling down, "Let's get going. I hope you really have money to pay for the food."

"I have all the money we'll need." Lee replied before turning his head, "Nia, please look after Naruto for us, will ya?"

"Uh sure..." Nia replied, "Have fun guys."

"See ya!" Sakura bid farewell as her and Lee disappeared into the distance.

Nia shifted her focus back on Naruto and shook him by the shoulder.

"Naruto," She called, "Naruto!"

Finally, the genin snapped into consciousness and sat up, "Why she have to go out with Bushy Brows?"

As soon as he finished his sentence, his cheek throbbed and he threw a hand over it, "And hit me too?"

Nia watched Naruto rub his sore cheek. She saw a glimpse of the minor injury done to it.

"Naruto, can you move your hand off your cheek please?" The girl asked.

Naruto did what he was asked; Nia gasped in response to seeing a rather large bruise on the area. Because of her gasp, Naruto placed his hand back over his cheek to avoid her from further worrying.

"This is nothing, Curly Brow. Sakura's punched me way harder than this before. I'm fine."

"But look at this!" Nia pulled Naruto's hand away from himself and leaned closer to get a better look at his bruise, "This one is serious—It's throbbing!"

Naruto gently pushed Nia's hand off his and stood up, "I said it's not serious, y'know!"

Again his cheek throbbed hard and it caused the genin to wince. Nia quickly stood up also and placed her hand onto the boy's cheek.

"Your cheek needs to be bandaged or something. It's not looking good at all."

"I said i'm fine. Will you leave me alone about it already?!"

"No!" Nia argued, "I don't care if you think that's nothing! It's still something to me! I'm gonna go grab a few things from my house! I want you to come with me."

Naruto frowned and looked away.

"Fine then," Nia said, "I'll just go get them myself. I'll be right back, so don't move!"

With that, she took off north. Naruto watched her leave and sighed.

Why can't Sakura be a little more gentle like Curly Brow more often, y'know...?

Sakura, with Rock Lee, then popped into his mind. Immediately, he looked behind him in the direction they had ran off.

"That's right! I can't let Bushy Brows land a perfect date with Sakura! I gotta sabotage it somehow!"

In a heartbeat, Naruto took off.

Meanwhile, Sakura and Lee were having a conversation about the two genin they left behind moments ago. They sat inside a ordinary restaurant atop of comfortable stools.

"Geez, doesn't Naruto ever know when to be respectful to you, Lee?" Sakura asked before she sipped her straw that was in her smoothie cup.

Lee defended Naruto and said that they're both in a rivalry to win Sakura's heart. This caused the kunoichi to sigh.

Why do they like me though...? What did I do...?

"Sakura," Lee called, "May I ask you something?"

"Of course." Sakura nodded as she placed her cup down, "You don't need to ask me if you can ask something. Just say what you want."

"Noted." Lee nodded also and shifted in his seat, "Sakura, did you get the chance to get to know that Nia girl?"

"Nia? I talked to her just a couple times but only for a few short moments. Kakashi and the other jonin wouldn't let her really speak to any of us while we were traveling here, remember?"

Lee nodded.

Sakura then said, "I asked Naruto about that girl and to give me a brief overview of what she's like."

"What did he say?" Lee leaned forward.

Sakura sipped her smoothie then replied, "Well, let's see... He described her as being very insecure and cynical-"

"Naruto knows what cynical means?"

"No." Sakura shook her head, "His exact words were: She rarely looks on the bright side. I wish she would."

"I see." Lee responded, "What else did he say?"

"He said that she has more of a loner personality and keeps to herself. Also, she doesn't really stand up for herself when it comes to anyone insulting her. Naruto tells me it pisses him off."

"Wow... Has he not say anything nice about Nia?"

Sakura placed her hand under her chin, "He has actually. He also says that Nia is very observant and knows when him or Master Jiraiya is bothered by something. He likes that she's generally kind and easy on him when he screws up and acts like an idiot. In fact, she laughs at his jokes supposedly. I can tell that he thinks he's sooo funny because of it. Personally, I think he's full of himself."

Lee said nothing. Sakura continued rambling.

"Anyways... Lee, do you notice the way that girl acts around him?"

"Eh? You mean by Naruto?"

Sakura nodded, "Yeah—she seems so attentive to him. Well, her clone did..."

"It could've just meant that she wanted her clone to keep a close eye on all of us so we wouldn't know that wasn't the real her."

"Hmm," Sakura considered Lee's reasoning, "You could be right."

"Why of course, Sakura!" Lee gave his signature thumbs up and winked, "I would definitely know if there was something going on between Naruto and another woman. After all, he is my rival in love."

"R-Right..." Sakura sweatdropped.

The two ate for a little while longer before deciding that they should regroup with the others. Just as they made it outside of the restaurant, Naruto had just arrived.

"Sakuraaaaa!" Naruto came flying at her with his arms spanned out as he made kissy faces at her, "Give me a smooch!"

Unfortunately, Naruto's advances only ended up with Sakura becoming furious and dropping her rock hard fist atop the teen's head—causing Naruto to crash into the ground with a large bump forming out of it.

"Learn to control yourself!" The kunoichi growled before taking off in the distance.

Lee stared down at his friend as the blond twitched, "Poor guy."

The taijutsu user then vanished as he followed Sakura.

About half an hour later, Nia found Naruto exactly where Sakura had left him and gasped, "What the heck happened to you? I was looking all over for you! I told you to stay put till I got my medkit."

"Just help me out of this crater, would ya?" The ninja asked as he still felt enormous pain on his head.

Nia quickly dragged him out the crater and sat the boy down, "Wow, that's a really big injury."

As soon as she dabbed a ointment on Naruto's cheek and head, the young man winced.

"Oh sorry," Nia apologized, "I didn't mean to hurt you."

Naruto didn't say anything and stared at the ground as Nia bandaged him up. He thought of how soft the girl was towards him and how she tried her best to make sure she wouldn't hurt a single hair on his head.

Unbeknownst to him, a very small blush appeared on his cheeks.

"Curly Brow?"

Nia stopped her wrapping and looked down at her comrade, "Yeah?"

Naruto turned from her gaze, "Your... soft... and gentle."

The girl's heart skipped a beat, "Err.... um..."

Naruto then realized that the girl seemed to feel awkward about what he said.

"Err... forget what I said," He nervously chuckled, "Lets just get you ready for what the Raikage will throw at you!"

Nia smiled and nodded, "Yeah."
