Chapter 5
Whoshhhh!” the sound of the Emirates landing on the runway filled the airport. After hours of journey and couple of countries later, the passengers could finally walk on mother earth again. Amongst the passengers a family of 5 took in the air of India once again after years of leaving their birthplace and you just couldn’t tell which one of them felt the happiest.
After 11 hours of journey, Sam and her family once again are back at India. Although it was a tiring journey, Sam looked worrisome instead. Her grandmother, Mr. Raman and his wife, Mrs. Mala were well aware of Sam’s strange behaviors and nervousness as they know the reason behind it too, but at the same time they are happy that Sam finally has the courage to face her fear.
Meanwhile, Suhana is extremely excited and is looking forward to her stay at Delhi. “ Mama. It’s going to be so fun much here and I am going to get so many new friends, right?” she asked her mother in a very excited tone. “Yes my baby girl. You will have so many friends to play with and mama would try to come back home even faster faster so that we too can play together, okay my baby girl?” Sam replied with the same amount of excitement.
“Yayyyyy! I love you mama.” Suhana screamed in happiness. She has always wanted her mother to be back home as fast as possible so that she can spend time with her mother. She loves her mother more than anything else. “Mama loves you too my baby girl.” Sam replied her and planted a kiss on her cheek.
After another couple of hours later, they reach their triple-story bungalow. That property belongs to Sam’s parents. Since they left it was given to Sam. Sam looked at the house as thousand memories flash before her. That garden was where she played hide and seek with her parents. That front yard was where her dad read the newspaper with his leg on top of the other as he drank his morning tea at the table near the swing. That pouch was where they would play with the firecrackers every year during festival timing. That balcony is where she would sit and gaze at the stars when her father reads her a bedtime story. That house was her life and childhood. Fifteen years may have passed by in a blink off an eye but the memories in head were fresh as if they happened yesterday.
“Wow mama! This house is so big and pretty. Whose house is this?” Suhana asked. “ This was your granny and grandpa’s house, baby girl. This is where mama was born and raised.” Sam replied. She becomes extremely emotional when she thinks about her parents. Her grandmother slowly patted her shoulder and held her hands showing that she is always there for Sam.
As the 3 of them enter the house to start unpacking, Mr. Raman paid the taxi and took his car parked outside of the house to head to his home so that he can unpack too. Mrs. Mala decided to stay with Sam for the night and help them out first since they had even more to unpack. The night slowly approached and all of them manage to set up their bedrooms first. All of them were very tired and went to sleep right away.
The sun’s rays streamed in from the open windows and fell on Sam’s face. She slowly rubbed her eyes and stared at the celling to avoid facing the sun. It was just 6 a.m. but the world has already started their day. School students are getting ready to go to school and their mothers are having the usual tough time to get their kids ready at the same time prepare breakfast for their family. Delhi was always a busy city.
The shipping truck arrived yesterday and now her already dusty house is filled with boxes and furniture. Although the house looks like a mess, Sam could still recall the time she had spent in this house. As she scanned every detail memory of this house her eyes meet the wall next to the stairs. Hanging on the wall was countless pictures, like her parents’ wedding pictures and her childhood pictures. “Memory is something you can treasure forever, like a picture on a wall.” Sam smiled by herself as she remembered a quote she has heard before. Unknowingly a small drop of tear rolled down her cheeks. She missed her parents so much.
Even though she has her grandmother with her all these years as her pillar of support, as her backbone, nothing can compare to having her own parents around. She felt like she just needed them so much, she needed their hug that always has warmth and unconditional love. The hug that assures things will be alright no matter how bad the situation she was facing. Sam suddenly realised she need to get ready to office and she is sure she is going to have a long day as so many works are pending.
After she freshened up, she wore a red top along with a black long skirt and finally a silk neck scarf. “Suhanaaa!”, she called her daughter. “Yes mama?” Suhana replied. “Come on baby girl, freshen up quickly. Aren’t you excited to go to school today?” “Of course mama. I am so excited. I will go to school and finish it very quickly so that I will grow big just like you and I will follow you to the office like a big girl.”Suhana replied her mother filled with excitement. “That’s my girl. You must study hard okay? Lets go.” Sam looked at Suhana and gave her a smile.

After registering Suhana at her new school and making sure she is all right, Sam heads to her new office. She has already talked to her new manager and Ana has already made all the needed preparations, from the interior designing to the file work , everything was set up as requested. Sam walked into her new office and scan the space before her only to be satisfied with her secretary’s work. She smiled and nodded her head in agreement and satisfaction.
"Good job Ana. The arrangements are perfect an the office is just as I wanted it to be.” She praised Ana. “Thank you madam. The only thing left is the opening prayers. Come this way to do the Pooja.” Sam nodes and performed the Pooja to bring serenity to the office and keep the evil eyes away from their success.
“Madam if you are ready, the first thing on your agenda today is the meeting with the CEO of ‘Chay Enterprise’, Mr. Naga Chaitanya.” With a quick glance of the file work she was holding, Ana confirmed the name of the CEO.“Yeah. Of course. Let’s get going then.” Sam replied filled with confidence.
Finally, Sam was standing before ‘Chay Enterprise’. “Okay, I am dealing with one of the biggest company around here. So, calm down Sam. Relax. Breathe in and breathe out. You can do this. Ready? Let’s go.” Sam relaxed herself and gave herself some confidence and reassurance.

Chay suddenly had the urge to look out of his glass door. He can view his staff’s working pattern from inside thanks to his tinted glass door. He usually looks through to make sure that his office is running well. However, he doesn’t look through it anymore as his workers are all familiar with their jobs. He would just do his work and leave the office with Anirudh or even alone mostly, nowadays. But, today something kept on urging him to look out through his door. He felt like he is going to meet somebody today. He is having this feeling after a long time. The last he felt like this was when Maya would stop by to surprise him. His gut feeling was never wrong.
Just as he looks through his glass door he saw a young lady walking towards his cabin. Her hair was half lose, she was wearing formal attire, she was carrying a file close to her chest and she was walking with great confidence. He instantly liked her confidence, but it was kind of hard for him to deal with women. Women’s mood swings are never predictable. He had an up close experience with that when he lived with Maya for 2 years. As she was getting nearer to his cabin, Chay pretended to face back to his work.
“Excuse me, may I come in?” Sam asked with a very polite tone. “Yes, come in.” Chay answered. Sam pushed the glass door and walked all the way to Chay’s table. “Hello Mr. Chaitanya. I am Samantha, the owner of ‘Sana Company". As she introduced herself, Chay forwarded his hand for a polite handshake. Sam hesitated for a moment before she had to do all of this too as she will be working with Chay for quite a long time as they had already sealed their deal She shook his hand in hesitation. “Hello miss Samantha. You can just call me Chay in short. Good to have you here miss. Have a seat.” He replied as he gestured her to have a seat. “Thank you”.
They start to discuss about their deal. Everything went well until Chay asked her a sentimental question. “Not bad miss. I never thought that I would be working with a woman that is so successful. Aren’t your father or any other man in your family are a part of this company?” Sam immediately turned on her offensive mode. “Excuse me? Mr. Naga Chaitanya do you think a woman couldn’t run a company? Do you think they couldn’t work? Is all women born to work only in the kitchen all day long and serve their husbands for the rest of their lives? I have never thought you would be this narrow-minded."
Sam begun questioned rudely. "No miss. You have mistaken me. I just wanted to know why....". Before he could continue , Sam interrupted and bursted out again. "I have never mistaken you Mr. Naga Chaitanya. Please for god sake, I know what you meant just now and I do sense the derision in your tone just now. All males are the same. This is the bastion of male chauvinist. Enough is enough. I'm not working with you anymore. I'm canceling the deal." She concluded while she started to gather her files. Her face was completely red and she was at the verge of crying. She just didn't want to show it in front of Chay that she is weak.
"Oh my god , you woman. Can you listen to what I'm saying for a second ? Why are you shouting at me for no reason. I don't think any man can stand a women like you. Wonder how would anyone even want to live with you" Chay replied. He suddenly realised what he just said. He didn't meant the words he just said. Sam was stunned for a moment. She didn't expect to hear those words from Chay. A drop of tear fell on her file. She turned her back against Chay and walk out from that place as fast as she could. Tears started to trickle down her cheek. She felt shattered completely. She ignored Ana's question, who was waiting for her outside of the CEO's cabin, and kept on walking without even realising what's happening around her. Who is he to question me that ? Am i that bad ? Is he telling the truth then ? But he doesn't even know me for one hour. How can he spill out those words ? Thousands of mind voices ringed in her mind. Just then....
