Style

Taehyung left me to have a shower once we returned, the door to the apartment slamming as I made my way from my bedroom to the bathroom. I peeked up the hallway in confusion, but found the space empty.

Two hours later, after washing, texting Faye about the fiasco, and arranging everything I bought so that my room felt more like me, I headed to the front of the apartment. Jungkook stood over the sink, soap lathered onto his forearms as he rinsed away the mix of purple and blue paint that spotted his skin.

"Seline," he looked up at the sound of my footsteps, pausing to search for the right words, "we changed our minds about dinner and decided on takeout. Taehyung should be back soon." He nodded, turning his attention back to scrubbing his hands.

"Okay." I replied tersely, reaching into the cabinet for a glass to fill with water.

While I sat at the island, giving a final scroll through my work schedule for the next day, Jungkook let out a sigh so loud that it could have called the attention of our neighbors. I peered up at him as he tossed the paper towel he'd been using to dry his hands into the trash with more aggression than necessary.

"Bad day?" I wondered, a hint of sarcasm in the question.

"I upset Taehyung so yeah." He replied, continuing after I scoffed. "And you. I'm sorry I should have done more to make sure you were okay. I was going to give you my number but you left."

I let out a sardonic laugh. "I didn't leave. You were distracted trying to give someone else your number." I recalled.

Where Taehyung's more forefront enticement came through in his dialogue and touch, Jungkook's physicality was enchanting. I wasn't sure if it was conscious but it worked and I took in the line from his wide shoulders down to his narrow waist as he leaned against the counter in front of me.

"I didn't–" He started, cut off by the door being kicked open.

Taehyung balanced two cardboard boxes on one palm and held a bouquet of sunflowers in the other. "I got pizza!" He exclaimed, Jungkook backing away from me as Taehyung set the boxes on the counter, placing the flowers in front of me. "For you. The first time I got lost in the city made me want to move back home the next day." He smiled, moving to a cabinet in the living room to retrieve a vase.

"For the record, Taehyung has gotten lost in the city six times since we moved here. He's always too busy talking to pay any attention to where he's walking." Jungkook said while grabbing plates from the kitchen, setting them at the small dinner table in a nook between the kitchen and living room.

We talked about the nerves I felt about starting work and the commissioned art Jungkook was working on over dinner, and I decided to put the challenge of my first full day in Milan behind me with hope for a fresh start tomorrow.

The anxious flutter in my stomach woke me before my alarm clock and I put together a basic outfit from the few clothes I had, a plain mock neck top and dress pants. I packed more than I would probably need in my work bag, slinging it over my shoulder and leaving my bedroom at the exact same time that Jungkook and Taehyung emerged from theirs.

We chatted briefly about dinner plans on the way to the coffee bar, the two of them insisting that we eat out to celebrate my first day of work. They double checked that I had everything I needed, their phone numbers and our address before we departed, Taehyung giving me a double cheeked peck for good luck.

Margo was much different on the job than the past few months of working remotely, and even more from the first night I met her. I realized that she wore her every emotion on her sleeve, and that included stress. We barely made it through our initial greeting before she was apologizing for the intense schedule while simultaneously expressing her gratitude that I had arrived.

I jotted down my ever growing list of duties: sitting in on and taking notes during meetings, assisting Margo before and during photoshoots, attending promotional events, helping construct the final spread of her shoots for the magazine, and basically everything except fetching coffee. That task was left to the intern, Sophia, who I was also in charge of delegating tasks to.

We started with a meeting where I did my best to keep up and confirmation of the week's shoots. Our tasks were set for the edition a month in advance and I spent the rest of the morning organizing the desk that was set up for me outside of Margo's office and getting acquainted with Sofia, who already seemed to know more than me from her time of working in the office and city.

At lunch the entire office ventured downstairs, some heading home for meals prepared by their families and the rest of us gathering at restaurants on the street of our office building. Though I didn't know her well, I felt most comfortable joining Sofia, her face lighting up as she raved about her favorite place for lunch.

We feasted over pasta and had a midday glass of wine, Sofia grinning shyly as she brought up the tour she took of my apartment. "It's a shame that your roommates are a couple. They were so attractive." She sighed with disappointment.

"They're actually not a couple. What made you think they were?" I giggled.

Her eyes shined again with the revelation. "Well they sure were touchy feely." She identified, making me laugh more.

"That was probably Taehyung. Apparently he's like that with everyone." I replied, Sofia delighted at the new piece of information.

We finished our lunch and stopped for a cup of espresso before going back to the office, the day much more lax and quiet after the heavy meal everyone ate. I let myself get lost in assembling the checklist of tasks I'd need prepared for the photoshoot Margo set for the week, handing a few of them off to Sofia.

Everyone in the building was prompt, packing up to leave fifteen minutes before we were set to close and beginning their goodbyes. Sofia chatted easier than she had at the start of the day, a true foodie as she babbled about her family dinner on the ride down the elevator.

Her mouth dropped open when the doors opened, the lobby empty other than the two men who waited for me. Jungkook dressed out of his usual casual clothing into a dark pair of pants and button up that fit his waist but pulled across his chest so that the buttons appeared close to popping. Taehyung was the only person I knew who could pull off the multiple prints and patterns he wore, jeweled earrings and layered bracelets that were excessive but put together perfectly.

"Save one of them for me." Sofia whispered, wiggling her eyebrows at me before exiting the building.

We walked into town together, where people were already gathered to socialize for a couple of hours before dinner. Everyone wore their best outfits, women walking easily in heels over cobblestone while I struggled, holding onto Taehyung and Jungkook's arms to stay balanced in mine.

As we walked they stopped to talk to a few people, introducing me as their roommate and giving me the painless job of using the little Italian I knew to make small talk. When we were back in a place I recognize, standing outside of Antonia, the boutique I'd been on the hunt for the day before and Taehyung's workplace, he pulled me along with excitement with a spontaneous idea.

"Didn't you say you needed new clothes? You should let me style you." He beamed, giving a wave into the store as we entered. Another associate greeted us but on seeing Taehyung left us to browse, every piece of clothing perfectly in place despite the handful of other shoppers.

"Go easy on her, Taehyung." Jungkook commented, offering me a comforting glance as Tae picked through racks, checking with me about the size.

Taehyung piled two dresses across Jungkook's arm, pointing toward the checkout counter. "Go ask Natalie to get us a dressing room started. You can wait for us on the bench in the back." He replied, moving on to a section of items that would surely make a statement.

I let him succumb to his passion, balancing the stack of clothes he handed me until it became too heavy and passing on the pieces to Natalie. I took a break from following him around, slumping into the seat next to Jungkook while Taehyung finished making selections.

A few minutes of silence passed until Jungkook spoke. "Did you have a good first day?"

"It was interesting but I think I'll like it. I'm sure it'll get overwhelming at some point and then you'll really get to see me stressed out." I responded.

"Looking forward to it." He leaned his head against the wall. I could feel his eyes on me.

I chuckled. "You're looking forward to seeing me stressed."

"To seeing you." He slipped, his eyes shifting to the floor with a blush as soon as my gaze turned to him.

Taehyung returned a moment later, explaining that though he had five more items to add to the bunch, he only put together ten outfits. He stood outside the fitting room, instructing me on which pieces to pair together, several printed shirts to switch between a few pairs of pants for an elevated work look, more extravagant outfits he insisted I'd need to stand out at events, and a selection of cocktail dresses for evenings like tonight.

I was glad to be at the end of the stack, tugging the final dress over my head and pushing the pieces of my hair that started to fall back toward the elastic holding it all together.

When I stepped out of the dressing room Taehyung was quiet for the first time since they picked me up from work and Jungkook leaned forward from where he sat, resting his forearms on his knees.

"You should wear that tonight. Leave it on." Taehyung gulped, making me giggle. It was the first time I saw him bashful.

I ran my hands over the fabric, looking from him to Jungkook as they both nodded with approval. "Give her your earrings." Jungkook nodded, standing with my bag clasped around his fingers. He waited patiently while Taehyung handed them over and I sorted through the items I planned to purchase. They carried my bags, Natalie giving a disgruntled snort when Taehyung let me use his employee discount.

I left with three full bags, two incredibly beautiful men, and a pretty purple dress that made me feel equally so.
