"Have you heard, Upper East siders? Burlesque is all the rage again, and sometimes a little raging is exactly what you need"

"KENNEDY WAKE UP! YOU'RE gonna be late for school" Anastasia exclaims from Kennedy's yawning figure glaring at her.

"It's fine, I don't have class until eleven" Kennedy groans getting out of her bed seeing Anastasia squinting at her.

"You realise it's ten right now, correct?" said girl questions, "Wait what? Stas, you were supposed to wake me at nine!" Kennedy shouts from the bathroom.

"Well sorry miss grouchy, I tried but your grumpy mindset didn't wake up" Anastasia explains leaning against the bathroom door receiving another glare from the brunette who's dressed in her uniform and putting lip gloss on her lips.

"Are you ready to see Nate today?" Anastasia wonders, "I have too, we've been best friends since forever, can't let this come between us" Kennedy sighs grabbing her bag from her beside table and motioning for Anastasia to follow her out of the large bedroom.

"Plus after last nights phone call, I want to make sure his okay since his parents blame him for the drugs belonging to his father" Kennedy voices walking out of the building waving down a taxi for her best friend.

"Well, just know I'm only a phone call away and I hope you find your diamond necklace" Anastasia states getting into said taxi while Kennedy sighs waving her goodbye and getting into their personal vehicle to have her driver drive her to school.

Kennedy rushes into the school building hearing the bell ringing signalling class is about to start.

"God dammit!" Kennedy sighs pulling one of the sketches out from her locker and going to art class smiling at her sister in the hallway.

AFTER ART CLASS KENNEDY WALKS in the hallway looking at her sketchpad and frowning seeing the design she thought about not working running into a hard chest.

"Shit!" Kennedy grunts frightened feeling familiar hands wrapping around her waist catching her from falling.

"Kens, hey" Nate greets with a smile, "Oh hey" Kennedy responds looking back at the sketchbook in her hands focused on the design.

"Wait, what are you doing in the girl's hall?" Kennedy questions after a while of awkward silence between the two friends.

"I was actually looking for you" Nate explains gesturing to the courtyard.

Kennedy follows after the male sighing knowing it's probably a bad idea.

"I'm sorry if I upset you the other night at the masquerade" Nate says sitting beside Kennedy who's already seated.

"Upset me? Nate, you said you like me-not only that you're with one of my best friends" Kennedy mutters looking at the male.

"Kens, I'm sorry, I bought you something" Nate explains grabbing a box of gummy snakes and handing them to said girl who looks at the box in awe.

"You remember my favourite candy?" Kennedy mumbles making eye contact with said male.

"Of course I do, you're one of my closest friends and we use to always eat these together" Nate replies with a chuckle.

"I won't tell Blair, okay? Just don't do it again" Kennedy voices noticing Blair walking towards them with a smile blooming on her face.

"I promise" Nate confirms with a nod, "Promise what?" Blair questions sitting beside Nate and smiling at her best friend.

"Uh, promise not to tell you what I got you for your seventeenth birthday present" Kennedy smiles.

Said girl looks at Nate gathering her stuff-the gummy snakes as well into her hands and leaving the couple at the table alone not wanting to be a third wheel.

SITTING BESIDE HER TWIN SISTER and Blair on the steps taking small bites of her strawberries.

"So I heard on gossip girl that you were having sex with dan out here-in streaming video" Blair smirks looking at Serena.

"God!, Kati and Is filmed us?" Serena groans looking at her sister and Blair.

"It's all very high school musical scandalous and no, they haven't streamed it yet, but I heard it was aggressive" Blair voices.

"I must say, Dan has been surprisingly good at everything we've done" Serena explains.

"Which is? Everything?" Blair questions with a smirk, "No! But feel free to ask any personal questions" Serena responds.

"But you've talked about it, right?" Blair asks, "No, Mom, we haven't" Serena utters playfully seeing Kennedy smiling at her before looking back at her blank canvas with a sigh.

"May I remind you that this is your first real boyfriend, S and in relationships, you talk about stuff" Blair states.

"I know, but I don't know, sometimes talking about it or planning it can ruin a good thing, you know?" Serena says.

"I would know" Blair mumbles with a nod, "Well, as long as you're not worried" Kennedy says joining into the conversation placing her sketchbook-still with a blank canvas inside her bag.

"Well, I'm not, but I don't know, he might be, is it possible for a guy to want to slow things down?" Serena wonders, "Only the guys we like" Blair responds.

"I wish I knew, my ex boyfriend is a toxic manipulator and was always wanting to have sex, guess that's the reason why he cheated on me" Kennedy shrugs in annoyance thinking about Asher.

"Okay so maybe not Kennedy's guys in the past but with you S, I can't imagine why" Blair mutters making Serena and Kennedy both laugh.

All three girls get up from the staircase and walking back inside the school while Kennedy walks along the curb-side in the national park seeing Nate walking on the phone.

Kennedy sighs picking up her pace seeing the conflicted look on said males face, "You okay?" Kennedy questions walking beside him.

"Yeah, just my father canceled on me but I'm gonna go to his work and see what's going on-wanna come?" Nate questions.

"Sure" Kennedy nods walking alongside the Archibald boy towards Howard Archibald's office.

Nate and Kennedy walk into Nate's father's office seeing Howard downstairs on the phone.

Kennedy frowns seeing Asher entering the building and walking towards Mr Archibald handing a cocaine filled bag.

The brunette looks at Nate shocked but not surprised knowing about Asher's past in dealing drugs.

"Looks like cold, hard cash can get you the cold, hard truth, didn't anyone tell you N and K? Be careful what you both fish for"

Storming out of the building after seeing Asher handing Mr Archibald cocaine.

Kennedy snarls under her breath looking at Nate's clenched jaw, "That scheming backstabbing asshole, I'm so sorry Nate, I didn't know he was back in business" Kennedy gently mumbles.

"Not your fault Kens, I gotta go talk to my mom though, be safe okay?" Nate voices making sure Kennedy gets into a taxi and away from the building her psychotic ex boyfriend is.

"Thanks Nate, call me if you need anything okay?" Kennedy suggests kissing Nate's cheek and getting into the taxi.

Nate stands on the sidewalk with a love daze and relaxed clenched jaw walking off towards his household to talk to his mother.

"SPOTTED: BASS, DRUNK OFF his ass at the palace bar, drinking away his woes and investment capital"

Kennedy walks into the hotel her and her family are currently living in seeing Chuck bending over swaying on his feet and her mother to the side of him watching him shocked.

"Chuck?" Kennedy mumbles walking towards one of her friends smiling at her mother clearing her throat and crouching beside the drunk Bass.

"Long night?" Lily questions, "Alfonso made me an omelet, I may have washed it down with a bellini or two" Chuck slurs.

"Your father didn't go for your business proposal?" Lily wonders receiving a shake of the end off Chuck.

"Come on, Ken, help me out here" Lily suggests snapping Kennedy into helping pull Chuck off the ground leading him inside the hotel.

"He was born poor, I was born loaded-but if the only way to impress him is if I started with nothing, then why doesn't he just take it all away?" Chuck mumbles in a slur falling in-front of the door bringing Kennedy and Lily down with him.

"Because he loves you, no good parent likes to see his child go without" Lily explains looking at both Chuck and Kennedy discreetly.

"I had the idea, I did the work, he tells me I can't be committed, and he's the one screwing 25 year olds when he's supposedly committed to you" Chuck voices.

"Wait what? You and Bart Bass, mom?" Kennedy asks shocked, "We're newly committed, as recent as last week" Lily explains for both Kennedy and Chuck seeing the look of shock on Kennedy's face.

"I wonder why he was pawing some asian chick in his limo yesterday" Chuck mumbles with a slight smirk on his face going unnoticed by Lily but Kennedy notices the mischievous look on his face.

"How could I be surprised, really?" Lily voices hurt laced in her tone, "Excuse me" Lily mumbles standing up.

"Mom?" Kennedy calls out to her retreating figure, "Help Chuck inside and get him some water, I love you Kenny" Lily voices.

Kennedy nods her head and wraps her arm around Chuck's neck helping him into the hotel.

"That was kinda uncalled for, don't you think? Just because you're hurting because of your dad, doesn't mean you hurt my mom in the process, Chuck" Kennedy voices sliding the key card into Chuck's suite and helping him to his room to lay down and sleep off his drunk ness.

"I'm sorry-tell Lily I'm also sorry" Chuck responds screwing up his face in annoyance with himself.

Kennedy sighs grabbing a glass of cold water and passing it to the sobering up male who's looking at her with a questioning glance.

"Have you ever wondered why you and I look more alike than you and Serena?" Chuck rambles noticing the same birthmark he has on his back on back on Kennedy's shoulder.

"I don't have the answer to that Chuck, but come on-get some sleep" Kennedy suggests helping Chuck into his bed.

Before leaving the Bass suite and walking into her families apartment suite to try and sketch again feeling her mind remain blank.

WAKING UP FROM A NAP AND having multiple missed phone calls and text messages wasn't on Kennedy's agenda for the night.

I REALLY NEED YOU
RIGHT NOW KENS

DAN AND I
SLEPT TOGETHER!
- SERENA

Kennedy sighs replying to Blair first making sure her best friend is okay after breaking up with her boyfriend.

Blair responds with a short message stating she's with Chuck and is doing okay for now.

Kennedy then replies to her sister congratulating her on sleeping with her boyfriend for the first time together.

Opening Nate's text messages and starting to type a response back to him only for the doorbell of the suite to ring signalling someone's arrival at the Van Der Wooden's doorstep.

Kennedy places her phone on her bed side table walking towards the suite main door opening it to see Nate standing there with tears formed in his eyes.

Kennedy doesn't hesitate wrapping her arms around the male comforting after his father's arrest and bringing him into her room to dab the wound on his lip from his father's punch.

"Can I stay here tonight, please?" Nate whispers looking at Kennedy on her knees in front of him.

"Of course you can" Kennedy confirms with a gentle smile hearing Nate sniffle.

Kennedy stands up hugging Nate once again wiping the tears away from Nate's face.

"My dad's bail was set at one million dollars, and my mother blames me for getting him arrested-I was hoping he would get some help for his drug problem" Nate mumbles emotionally lying beside Kennedy on top of said girls sheets holding hands.

"I'm here, just try to relax and sleep, Natey" Kennedy soothes rubbing soothing circles on Nate's hand that's holding hers.

"Thank you Kens" Nate whispers falling into slumber feeling safe in the comfort of Kennedy Van Der Woodsen.
