002 - the wild brunch

"I bet you're wondering what Gossip Girl is doing up so early. Truth is: I never went to bed. Why waste precious time dreaming when waking life is so much better? Is there really anything better than a lazy sunday?

Reading the paper in bed, sipping coffee, scrambling an egg or two, yeah, right; we Upper East Siders don't do lazy: Breakfast is brunch and it comes with champagne, a dress code and a hundred of our closest friends and enemies.

Chuck's dad Bart Bass is hosting the annual brunch for his foundation, everyone is invited, well, not everyone"

AFTER A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP Kennedy wakes up rolling onto her stomach beginning to read her favourite book happily to herself until she has to get up and be present for the rest of the day, hearing movement outside of her bedroom.

Serena leaves the apartment wanting to go sort out her friendship with Blair without anyone near her.

Kennedy sighs to herself adjusting the pillow underneath her arms and reading through the pages of her book smiling to herself at the words printed on the pages.

Kennedy groans hearing her phone buzzing beside her, "Hello?" Kennedy says answering the phone not even checking the display name.

"Well hello to you, finally answering my calls?" a cold tone voice asks from the other line, Kennedy gulps feeling as her blood runs cold and her heart drops.

"Asher, leave me alone" Kennedy mutters ending the phone call tearing up at the horrible memories, before getting up from her bed to shower and get ready for brunch and to see some of her friends.

After doing her makeup and throwing on one of her many dresses she walks downstairs waving at Dexter at the front desk before frowning seeing her mother.

Serena and Dan outside talking before Serena quickly walks back into the building saying a quick hello to Kennedy on her way towards the elevator.

"Okay, what's happening?" Kennedy asks confused, "Oh good, you're dressed and ready for brunch, Serena just ran upstairs to get changed, also Dan is joining us for brunch today" Lily explains seeing Kennedy looking at the male beside her with a polite smile.

"Okay, I'm ready" Serena says as the Van Der Woodsen's plus Dan all walk towards the area the brunch is being served in.

Kennedy skips forwards grabbing a glass of much needed orange juice and waving at the people around the brunch party.

Blair notices Kennedy standing off to the side smiling at everyone walking by her, "Have you spoken to Serena yet?" Blair asks rolling her eyes at the mention of her former best friend's name.

"No, B, I haven't had the time" Kennedy states seeing Serena and Dan standing at the entrance still staring at everyone in disbelief.

Well more so Dan looking around in pure confusion at how many people want to be together for brunch.

"She came by to see me this morning to try and talk things out, I'm just not sure how to feel about her sleeping with my boyfriend, your best friend" Blair mutters seeing Kennedy looking at her.

"You shouldn't know how to feel B, Serena broke your trust and slept with your boyfriend while you were together, that's completely uncalled for, but I also don't want to be involved in the drama between both of you, I have too much going on" Kennedy explains feeling her mobile start buzzing in her small purse.

Groaning before walking away from Blair and answering the phone once more, "What?" Kennedy mutters seeing Asher's name displayed on the screen.

"Damn gorgeous, I didn't realise you'd still be mad" Asher says chuckling.

"Asher, you literally cheated on me and than abused me, of course I'm fucking mad, leave me alone" Kennedy snarls ending the phone call and blocking the males number, sighing seeing her hands still shaking from the phone call.

Nate notices Kennedy's anxious looks around the brunch party, "Kens, you okay?" Nate asks standing beside her, "What? Oh - yeah, yeah, I'm all good" Kennedy stutters.

"You promise?" Nate states seeing Kennedy trying to hold herself together.

"I'm okay, I'm good" Kennedy explains trying to convince herself before walking towards the food table grabbing a few small food items oblivious to Nate looking at her worriedly before he walks towards Serena seeing her with Dan at the brunch table.

"Looks like Chuck and Blair showed up with quite some appetite... for destruction that is"

Serena talks to Dan beside her turning towards the entrance seeing Nate nodding at the exit signalling he wants to talk to her alone.

Serena quickly excuses herself leaving Dan looking around overwhelmed before meeting Chuck's eye.

"Don't let Chuck scare you, he isn't all that scary" Kennedy states now standing beside Dan smiling at him before smirking at an annoyed Chuck mid conversation with his father.

Dan chuckles seeing the two of them looking at one another with a dark sibling look although knowing Chuck and Kennedy are related.

Outside Nate waits for Serena to meet him, "Serena, I really need to talk to you" Nate says seeing the blonde girl walking out of the room the brunch is being held in.

"Actually, I need to talk to you which means you can listen, Nate, you told Blair, what were you thinking?" Serena asks.

"Look, I wanna explain" Nate says before a party guest walks in-between them leaving the brunch, "We can't talk here" Nate states looking around mostly for Kennedy.

"What? Where Blair might see us? Or worse my sister?" Serena asks annoyed, "Meet me in Chuck's suite" Nate states handing Serena a key.

"I'm not sneaking around with you" Serena states shaking her head, "Please, just to talk" Nate explains, Serena takes the key, "Ten minutes" Serena states.

"I'll meet you up there" Nate states seeing Serena walking back into the brunch to head upstairs to Chuck's suite praying that Kennedy never finds out the truth.

Unaware that the brunette already knows and isn't sure how to feel about her twin sister having sex with the guy she likes.

Kennedy watches as Chuck hands Blair a key to his suite smiling evilly with the plan of Blair finding out the truth, "Okay, what do you have planned?" Kennedy asks coming up beside the Bass boy.

"Just showing Blair that your sister and male best friend aren't who they say they are" Chuck shrugs seeing the look of hurt cross Kennedy's eyes at the mention of her sister and Nate together.

"What does that have to do with you giving Blair a key to your suite?" Kennedy asks tilting her head seeing Chuck nodding his head in the direction of the elevator.

"Go up there and find out yourself" Chuck whispers before leaving the brunette standing alone.

Kennedy huffs before walking towards the elevator pressing Chuck's suite floor making her way into the room seeing Nate, Serena and Blair all looking at the door in shock.

Kennedy scoffs not surprised, "Wow, just fucking wow" Kennedy mutters looking directly at her twin sister avoiding eye contact with Nate all together and standing beside Blair gently placing her hand in the other brunettes hand comforting her during this time.

"Spotted: N, K and B, hot and heavy in the halls of The Palace Hotel, only to find S already waiting, sparks were flying for sure but will it be a four-way? Or D-day?"

Blair looks beside at Kennedy silently thanking her for the company and comfort, "What is she doing here?" Blair snarls.

"I was waiting for Nate" Serena explains looking at Kennedy who's licking her lips amused, "Just to talk, I swear" Nate states trying to get Kennedy to look at him but he falls unsuccessful.

"You said you'd never speak to her again and I'm sure K here won't want to speak to either of you now either" Blair states.

"You said that? Why would you say that? I'm sorry Kennedy, I am" Serena says looking at her twin who's trying to hold it together.

"Because you can't be trusted" Blair exclaims, "It's not Serena's fault" Nate explains as Kennedy scoffs finally making eye contact with the Archibald boy sending him a glare that would have six feet under.

"Do not defend her" Blair snarls, "I asked her to come" Nate says, "Unbelievable" Kennedy scoffs.

"Oh, oh, so you want to talk to her?" Blair asks trying not to show how much she's hurt by squeezing Kennedy's hand tightly, "Yes, yes, to explain why I'm not talking to her" Nate rambles growing nervous.

"Oh that's bullshit and we all know it" Kennedy states, "Maybe K and I should leave you two to finish that fascinating conversation" Blair states.

"Uh, no, no, I'll go, let you guys get back to your quicky" Serena states, "It wasn't a quicky, sex is actually kind of a big deal to some of us" Blair mutters.

Kennedy looks around growing uncomfortable before meeting Nate's pleading eyes once more and as quick as Kennedy looked at him.

Her line of sight was gone in an instant replacing the love with betrayal.

"Oh, yeah, I can see that, Chuck's bed? Very romantic, classy too" Serena smirks looking at Blair.

"Oh, like you, I bet your new friend Dan would love to hear all about how classy you are, come on Kennedy" Blair states dragging Kennedy out of the suite door towards the brunch party ready to tell Dan what's been going on really.

Kennedy tries to keep up with the angry brunette, but once Blair is on a warpath there's no guarding the person she's coming for seeing Dan in her sights.

Blair and Kennedy both walk towards the confused male seeing Blair and a clearly frustrated Kennedy coming towards him.

"Dan? Hi, I'm Blair Waldorf, Serena's friend, you already know Kennedy, Serena's twin sister" Blair explains shaking the boys hand.

"Oh, hey, yeah, do either of you happen to know where she is?" Dan asks, "As a matter of fact we do" Blair smirks looking at Kennedy.

Nate and Serena come running into the room seeing Kennedy standing beside Blair clearly uncomfortable with this conversation.

"Blair" Serena states coming closer to the two girls and her sort of boyfriend, "Serena, there you are" Dan says.

"Hi, where were you?" Dan asks, "This'll be good" Kennedy mumbles hiding a smirk.

"She was waiting in a hotel room for my boyfriend" Blair explains, "To talk" Serena says, "About why we weren't talking" Nate adds on.

"That doesn't sound any smarter the second time" Blair mutters, "Why weren't you talking? Does this have anything to do with why you were waiting for Serena this morning?" Dan asks looking at Nate who looks at Blair knowing he's been caught in a lie.

Unaware of the clearly hurt Kennedy unlatching herself from Blair's arm ready to leave the party and go upstairs and pour her heart out in her designs, "You were what?" Blair asks.

Chuck walks into the conversation and stands beside Kennedy, "And here I thought you were waiting for me" Chuck says.

"Oh, exactly what the situation needs: Chuck, now what is going on here?" Dan asks looking at everyone in the inner circle, "We were just getting to that" Blair explains.

"Blair, please, don't do this" Serena begs, "Sorry, did you want to tell him?" Blair asks.

"I'll tell him and or better yet, let's have Kenny here tell him" Chuck smirks seeing Kennedy look up from the floor.

"You both know? Well obviously Kennedy knows because I told her but Chuck?" Blair and Nate both state looking at the Bass boy, "I know everything" Chuck explains.

"And apparently I know nothing" Dan mutters, "Look, Dan, it was a long time ago and I regret it" Serena starts hearing her sister scoff under her breath.

"Look, Serena, stop trying to pretend you're a good girl, so you slept with best friend's boyfriend, I kind of admire you for it" Chuck states shocking everyone.

"Is that true?" Dan asks looking at the blonde girl who looks anywhere but him.

"Well, then she ran away and lied about it, dragged Kennedy away with her, the poor girl wasn't aware of the situation with Nate, I just thought you should know before you fall head over heels for your perfect girl in her perfect world and then get left all alone with no one but your 'Cabbage Patch Kid'" Blair states looking at Kennedy who shrugs not ready to tell everyone why she left New York.

"'Cabbage Patch'?" Nate asks confused, "Did you talk to my sister?" Dan asks.

"Ah, yes, little Jenny, do believe she and I have some unfinished business" Chuck smirks.

Dan walks up close to Chuck, "You stay away from her" Dan mutters, "Poor devil, so little time so many sluts to fu-" Chuck says.

Dan lunches from the boy pushing him into a nearby table shocking the whole party.

"It's fine, it's fine, everyone can stop looking, he's a jerk, but it's my fault and I'm leaving" Dan states looking around at the people surrounding them.

"I'll go with you" Serena states seeing Dan leaving the hotel ready to go home, "Actually, I'd prefer if you didn't" Dan states leaving properly, "Hope you're happy" Nate says looking at Blair.

Kennedy was just dragged into the mess, "Not even close" Blair mutters walking off with Kennedy by her side, Nate follows after them shortly after their exit.

"Some might call this a fustercluck but on the Upper East Side we call it Sunday afternoon"

Kennedy walks through the apartment towards her room dumping her heels by the door and sitting on the desk chair seeing her designs all spread out on the table.

Before growing teary eyed at the thought of her sister and Nate's betrayal.

"Kennedy? Please let me explain" Serena says walking into the girls bedroom seeing her sitting at the table sketching out a design.

"Serena, you fucking slept with him? After all the late night talks and me practically crying my eyes out over him, you decide to sleep with him and keep it a fucking secret and run away with me from this place" Kennedy states under her breath not bothering to look at her twin sister.

"I'm sorry Kennedy, I really am" Serena says emotionally.

"As far I know, you're my twin sister, but that's it, we're no longer friends, for all I know the second you spread your legs for him, our whole best friend sister duo was over, I'm done with you" Kennedy mutters seeing the hurt flash through Serena's face.

Before the blonde girl walks out of the brunettes room sniffling at the loss of her best friend and twin sister all while Kennedy lets out a massive sob.

Finally allowing herself to feel the sudden news of her crush and twin sister going behind her back.

"Well, Serena's mytery man is a mystery no longer, his name is; oh, who cares, now that he and S are over so are his fifteen minutes, but his sister Jenny was spotted with a new dress gifted from Blair herself,

Everyone knows an Eleanor original is the uniform of B's private army, but will J be a loyal soldier? Or will she side with S's rebel forces? And as for S herself: We hear she left today's brunch with no friends, no twin sister, no boy and nowhere left to run"

Serena walks along the streets of New York looking at photos of herself, Kennedy, Nate and Blair all together smiling and making memories together.

Kennedy lays in her bed sobbing hugging a pillow as her life feels like it's just fallen down the drain.

Knowing her twin only ran away with her because of her own guilt for sleeping with Nate and not because her twin sister desperately needed someone with her.

"It looks like the ultimate insider has become a total outsider, it's your move, Serena, and you know who'll be watching: Gossip Girl"

Serena looks at her phone coming to a pit stop seeing a photo of herself.

Blair and Kennedy hugging standing on the sidewalk before throwing out her mobile phone and walking along the sidewalk of New York City without a trace of Gossip Girl.
