Eight

"It has been said 'time heals all wounds'. I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone."

When you walked into the yoga class, you thought that it was the stupidest thing ever. You didn't really understand why Jesse made you do this in the first place because the last thing you wanted to talk about was how your pregnancy was going to some random ass moms who you didn't even know anything about.
"Oh, hello (Y/N)." The instructor said when she saw you. She was a woman with pink hair and blue eyes. She was also extremely tall. "Glad to see you could make it to class today. I'm Stephanie. It's a pleasure to meet you."
You shook her hand and smiled. But, like pretty much all of your smiles, it was fake.
"So, how's you hear about us?"
"Well, a friend of mine recommended it to me." You said.
"Oh." She said, sounding excited. "That's wonderful. Well, the class is going to start so go to wherever an open spot is."
You did so and you started filming on your phone.
"Well, this is what's happening with my life currently." You said. "I'm at a yoga class only because I'm pregnant. It's funny because I thought I would never say that sentence in my life. Ah well. I guess it's better than work. I mean, I love what I'm doing and all but somedays, it's really hard to get out of bed, you know?"
"Why are you talking to a camera?" The girl next to you asked and you stopped recording. You would have to edit that part out later. The girl had medium length blue and green hair and blue-green eyes as well. You thought she was quite pretty. She also looked quite young as well.
"I have a YouTube audience." You said as you put your phone in your purse. You began to spread your mat out.
"Why do you spend your life doing that?" The girl asked. "It's kinda wasting the time that you have on earth."
"You know, if you're going to judge me," You snapped. "I'll just move."
"I'm sorry." She said. "I didn't mean it like that. It's just that all the women here are pretty much the same. They live the same standard lives."
"What do you do?" You asked as Stephanie instructed you to do a pose that really made you strain in order to actually pull off.
"Nothing really." She said. "I'm still in college. It's my fourth year and I'm still undecided. The money's starting to take a toll on me. And this baby's going to take away even more of that money. And it's like I don't want to get an abortion, you know?"
"Oh yeah, I totally get it." You said. "Why would you want to not give your baby a chance to live?"
"Exactly how I feel." She said. "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Angie."
"(Y/N)." You said as you took a break from the pose. "Man, Stephanie's being kinda harsh today."
"She does this every day after class each week." Angie said as she took a rest as well. "She's got eight kids and she says that she's done these kinds of things for each and every one of them."
"How the hell does she have eight kids?" You asked. "How do you even afford that?"
"She married rich." Angie said as the two of you began the next pose. "But don't worry. She's not a gold digger. She legitimately loves her husband. I've seen their relationship. It's something I wish I had."
"Me too." You said, thinking of Mark. "I mean, I used to have it but not anymore."
"Ah, fuck." Angie said as she fell down. She tried the pose again and responded, "Me too. Well, I thought I did. But then," she lowered her voice so it was barely even a whisper, "he raped me."
"He r-!"
"Sh!" She said harshly. She was then back to whispering. "Yes. He raped me. But don't worry. The case is still going on. I even have to go to court today for the trial."
"Good luck." You said.
"Thank you." She said, speaking normally again. "So, I told you about my situation. What's yours? If you're comfortable with telling it, of course. I'm only comfortable because I've really had time to think about the whole thing. And I've realized that other women shouldn't have to go through what I went through."
You smiled. And it was a real smile this time.
"You know Angie," You said. "you're pretty cool. I think we could be really good friends."
"Really?" She asked. "Thanks. That means a lot."
"What's your number?" You asked.
She smiled and told you. You quickly entered it into your phone.
"Okay. Now I'll give you mine."
She smiled as she entered the number into her phone.
"Thanks." She said. "I'll see you at next week's class."
"You bet you will." You said. "And I'll tell you my situation next week."
"You better not forget!" She said as she walked out to her car. "I'll bug you all next class if you don't tell me."
You laughed and saw Jesse's car. You ran up to it and got inside.
"Looks like you made a new friend." He said. But he didn't sound very happy about it.
"Yeah." You said, still remaining happy. "I did. Isn't that great Jesse?"
"Yep." He said as he began to drive. "It's wonderful."
"What the hell's wrong?" You asked. "You seem really upset about it."
"Oh no, I'm not upset." He said.
"Liar."
"Okay. Maybe I am a little bit upset that you've become friends with her."
"Why are you talking shit about Angie?" You asked. "What did she ever do to you?"
"So, so many things." He said.
"Tell me." You said. "I want to know."
"It's a long story." He said. "I don't really feel like talking about it."
"Seriously?" You asked.
"Just," He said, sounding irritated. "tomorrow. That's when I'll explain everything."
"I'm pretty sure I have work tomorrow." You said.
"You're not working all day." He said. "You'll be just fine."
"Ugh, you suck." You said.
"Nah, I swallow." He smiled.
"Are you gay?" You asked. "Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course."
"Of course there's nothing wrong with being gay." He said. "It means happy after all. But no, I'm not gay."
"Okay." You said. "So, let me get this straight, you suck?"
"(Y/N), I don't like dicks." He said. "Don't you listen?"
You laughed and said, "I was just checking."
He couldn't resist laughing and smiled. "(Y/N), you are something else, that's for sure."
"Thank you." You said as you got out of the car. "I have work tomorrow. Ugh."
"You just gotta power through." Jesse said. "Be strong."
You just managed a fake smile and closed the door as you headed to the front door.
Be strong.
But how can I be strong when every part of me is broken?
