Arnav entered the room and saw her sitting on the bed with her head having some stitches. It's been two days since they admitted her in the hospital. With god's grace she didn't had any internal injury on her head. Her right hand is plastered as she got a minor fracture. It was an attempt to molestation and she got into an accident when she tried to ran away.
He had heard from the nurses that she used to scream and cries at night. With no one to take care of her, she is having a hard time coping up with situation she was in. He don't know why he felt this pull towards her, it's as if he want to take away her worries and bring a smile on her dull face. He remembered the time she opened her eyes and how she screamed seeing him and other male nurses. It took her sometime to grasp the environment she was in and let him took care of her treatment.
"Good morning Miss Gupta, I hope you are feeling fine today." Arnav said letting her eyes moves towards his direction.
"Good morning doctor. Yes, I'm fine but this plaster is giving me a hard time." She said pointing to her right hand. She liked talked to him. He gives her a warmth which makes her comfortable with him.
"I checked you vitals, you are getting better. My shift is over, so see you later." Arnav told her and moved towards the door.
"Doctor, I want to ask you a favour." She called him from behind.
"Sure Miss Gupta." He turned his head to look at her.
"Can I have jelabies?" She asked him with eyes full of hope. Arnav wasn't expecting such a question from her and chuckled.
"Yes, you can have some of them."
"If you don't mind, can you buy some for me tomorrow? I don't want to trouble you, but I don't have anyone to buy this for me." She said with little embarrassment and disappointment.
"It's totally ok. So see you tomorrow with your jelabies." He told her seeing the gloominess over shading her hopeful eyes.
Khushi laid down on the bed with a heavy heart. She remembered how her parents used to take care of her when she fell ill. She missed them, she missed them terribly as she stayed alone in that hospital room. She don't know what is going to happen to her once she will be out of this hospital. She took a deep breathe thinking about the uncertain future that awaits her.

Khushi got disappointed when she get to know that Arnav have arrived and didn't paid any visit to her. She hoped that he would remember the promise he made to her, but it seems like he didnt.

"Good evening doctor, is your shift over?" Khushi asked him politely.

"Ohh...thank you. I didn't expect you to remember my silly demand doctor." Khushi said opening the packet. She took one jelabi and smelled it. Slowly she started to have it, along with her eyes getting moist. At first Arnav find it funny but when he saw her tears he understood that it is related to some good memories.
Memories are built around the people that surrounds us. Humans does have a lot of memories. Be it bad or good, through out their life they cherish that memories.
'Does he have any memories? All the memories he had, they can't be considered as memories. All he did was to survive in this world without showing his animalistic instincts. He doesn't have any good memories built around people. Not really, he do have a few fond memories. His first surgery and the smile of content on the patient's face, a few people who helped him during his initial time, all that can be taken in to account.'
His random thoughts were interrupted by Khushi who forwarded a jelabi to him.
"No Miss Gupta, you have it."
"I should have offered you first, I'm sorry for not doing that. So accept this as my apology."
"So are you offering me this jelabi as an apology?"
"Yes, my amma babuji always tell that we should share food with others and I totally ignored you earlier. So please accept it doctor." Khushi told him.
"Ok I will accept it but not as an apology for sure."
"Then what do you want?" Khushi asked him.
"Be my friend." Said Arnav.
"You want to be my friend?" Khushi asked him and he nodded his head.
"Ok doctor, friends." Khushi said forwarding her hand for a handshake. Arnav reluctantly give his hand for a shake and pulled back asap.
"Your hands are little cold." Khushi told him.
"Climate, I went outside for buying this jelabi that's why." Arnav gave her his usual excuse.
"Ohh... Here have your jelabies." Khushi forwarded the packet and he took one. Arnav decided to take baby steps to know more about her. He started to have the jelabi.
"It's good. I'm not that fond of sweets, but this tastes good." Arnav said while having the food.

"The sweet shop near to the post office."
"Yeah, they do serves good food."

"Hmmm... By your name???" Khushi asked not liking the idea.
"Yes call me Arnav, Khushi"
"Ji...Arnavji."
"I prefer to be called as Arnav."
"You must be a few years older than me, so I can't call you by your name." She explained.
'Yeah I'm indeed older than you, infact 51 years older than you.' He thought.
"See you later Khushi, take care." Saying this he moved towards the door.
"Bye Arnavji." She said giving a smile to him.
"He is a good man. I'm glad that he brought me this jelabies." Khushi muttered to herself as he exited the room. Arnav heard what she said when he was outside her room. All thanks to his exceptional hearing ability.
