Chapter 11
I sat on the seat that was on the patio to the guest room. I turned it so that it faced the yard and that my back was to the glass doors. I kept the door cracked so that I could hear if someone was knocking. I took a deep breath as I looked around the yard, feeling the cool breeze that was passing by. The sky was turning a dark blue, with grey clouds drifting across it. The stars were starting to appear, dim at first but then got brighter as the sun continued to fall. I studied the yard as traffic drove passed, on their way home from a busy workday. I felt a breeze pass every once in a while, which I didn't mind. It was a little cold when it brushed up against me, but it was calming as it welcomed the night.
The patio was lit by the dim light of my bedroom, showing a yellow glow onto the cement. I still was dressed from the walk, except that I took off my socks and shoes and put them onto the cement square next to me. I leaned back in my chair as I thought about the walk and how I made Goushi angry at me. It made me think back to the conversation and how I came straight to my room without saying anything. No one had bothered me, which didn't surprise me. I looked up at the sky, watching as more stars appeared one at a time. The stars that were already noticeable seemed to be a little brighter than before, which glistened in and out. I thought about everything that happened on the way home and how Goushi got angry at my questioning. The memory of how mad he looked stuck with me and still showed in my mind. Goushi's angry tone still echoed in my head, repeating everything that happened during the conversation. It made me wonder if it was really alright to stay here, or if it was going to bring everyone down.
I closed my eyes and shook the thought out of my head. "No, if it wasn't alright for me to be here, I'd still be in a hotel," I told myself as I took a deep breath. I looked up at the stars again studying them, trying to find shapes or something to take my mind off it. They were scattered in patterns but didn't look like they made anything. I felt the cool breeze brushed up against me, which helped me calm down. I heard some traffic as I looked down at the road, seeing cars starting to pass, but it wasn't enough to call it busy. People walked down sidewalks, shadowed by the streetlights as they started to turn on. Watching the crowds put the thought of going for a walk into my head, but I knew it was too late. Plus it'll just make everyone worry more. I watched as a few kids ran down the road, yelling and playing with each other. The sight put a small smile on my face, remembering back when Haruhi, Yuzuki, and I were kids. That thought made me think of how everything ended up, which ended up being thoughts about the fight with Goushi again.
I took a deep breath as a light knocking was heard in the distance. I looked around at the other houses, trying to figure out if it was one of them or my bedroom. I slowly turned my head towards the bedroom, as the door to the hallway started to peek open. I was surprised to see Tsubasa walk into the room. I stood up as I started to walk to the sliding door and pull it open even more. She walked more into the room as she looked at me. "Can I come in?" she asked as I nodded. "You can join me out here," I said, as I started to walk back to the seat. Footsteps sounded muffled through the guest room as the sliding door opened then shut again. Tsubasa pulled out the other seat as she sat down, facing the traffic. "You ok?" she asked as I nodded. "I'm gonna be ok. Don't worry," I said, sounding positive, but lost it quickly. She turned towards me as she studied me. "You sure you're going to be ok? It's ok to admit your feelings," she explained as I looked down at my hands. "I'm sorry about what happened today. I didn't realize he was getting aggravated," I said, as Tsubasa shook her head. "No, it's fine. It's not your fault that Goushi gets aggravated easily. Trust me, Yuuta aggravates him all the time," she explained. I looked at her for a moment, then looked back out into the yard. "It's kinda my fault. I've been apologizing too much," I said, as I straightened in my chair.
Tsubasa looked out into the yard again. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but is there a reason you keep apologizing?" she asked as I took a deep breath. "I feel like I forced all this on everyone. With the moving in and all. Plus I'm also afraid," I admitted. "Your afraid of getting kicked out again, aren't you?" she asked as I nodded. "Yeah. Especially how I couldn't keep my parents house. It's hard when you have a new bedroom every night. Then you wake up the next morning to find someplace else," I explained. Tsubasa stayed silent as she looked back at the street again. I studied the road, seeing a few people pass on the sidewalk not rushing to get home. I watched a man and woman walking down the street with a little boy, holding each of their hands. I studied them for a few moments as I thought about the fighting between Haruhi and Goushi. "How are the guys?" I asked, hoping it would take my mind off it. Tsubasa looked at me. "Haruhi and Kento are playing pool. Goushi is probably sleeping. We don't know exactly, seeing how he didn't come out of his room yet," she explained. I took a deep breath. "Is this going to affect B-Project at all?" I asked as she shook her head. "No. They'll make up after a while. It isn't their first fight and it won't be the last," she explained. I turned to look at her. "The boys fight a lot?" I asked as she shook her head. "Not really, but they do every once in a while. Part of me thinks it's because you were involved. So Haruhi was being overprotective," she explained. The comment put a smile on my face. "Yeah. He gets that way. I was surprised Yuzuki didn't join him."
Tsubasa chuckled. "Do they do that a lot?" she asked as I nodded. "Yeah. But it depends on the situation. Haruhi is more of the one to get upset. Yuzuki thinks about it first. But they always were protective of me," I explained. Tsubasa cracked a smile. "I can tell you three are very close. Seeing how Haruhi was about to fight Goushi," she said. I cracked a smile. "Yeah. Us three were always close. I just don't want them to worry, seeing how they have the band to worry about. Parts of me think it's gonna affect their work," I explained. Tsubasa looked back at the yard. "I don't think it'll affect their work. They seemed more relaxed today," she explained. I looked over at her. "Really? They weren't worried about if I was gonna still be here?" I asked as she studied the road for a second. "I don't think so. If they did, they didn't show it at all," she said, as I sighed. "I wouldn't be surprised if they did," I said, looking back out into the yard. I thought to myself as I studied the yard again. I looked up at the dark sky, seeing it starting to get even darker than before. Street lights starting to turn on, looking barely noticeable on the sidewalks. I took a deep breath as I stretched my arms out in front of me. Tsubasa turned to look at me. "You feel better?" she asked as I nodded. "Yeah. Thank you for letting me talk to you. It helped with everything," I said, as she cracked a smile. "I'm glad it helped. You can talk to me if it's easier for you," she said, as I smiled back. "Thanks. I'll try my best not to keep it in," I said, as she took a deep breath. "Well. If you will excuse me, I'm gonna go back in," she said, as she started to stand.
I stood up as I grabbed my shoes and followed her into the room. I shut the glass door and flipped the little latch, then checked it to see if it was actually locked. I untied the curtains to let them drape close in front of the window. I tugged on them a little bit to make sure they stayed in place. I turned around to look at the bedroom in silence, then walked to put the sneakers by the closet. I took a stretch, seeing how I was sitting down for so long. A smack was heard from downstairs, which made me think about the boys some more. I studied the vent in silence as muffled voices came from the basement. I studied the vent in the thought of going down there and talking to Haruhi about the situation. I studied it for a few moments but decided that he probably didn't want to talk about it. So I decided to walk out of the room and towards the kitchen.
I entered the kitchen and walked into the living room to see Yuzuki, Miroku, Moons, and Kitakore watching something quietly on the tv. I looked at the tv, seeing what looked like a movie playing. The movie ended up being an adventure movie of some sort, but I couldn't tell which movie it was. It was dark on the screen and by the way I was looking at it, I had a hard time seeing it. I took a deep breath to settle myself more as a slight chuckle was heard from the other side of the room. "So she lives," Tomohisa broke the silence with. I looked into the room as he cracked a little smile. Yuzuki took a stretch. "We thought you'd be in the bedroom all night. You alright?" he asked, as I nodded. "Yeah. I'm gonna be alright. Don't," I said, as his smile grew. "Don't even say it. I will worry," he said, with a small chuckle. I dropped my head as I chuckled quietly. "Then worry," I mumbled under my breath. Yuzuki studied me with a stern but playful look on his face. I watched him carefully, as I stayed serious for a moment, but then a slight smile grew upon my face. I leaned on the wall as I felt like I had to bolt at any second. Yuzuki's smile grew majorly as he got off the floor. I inched from the wall as I knew what was coming next.
"Something wrong, Iris?" Mikado asked as I nodded quickly. "Yep," I said, as I started to run into the kitchen. Yuzuki caught up with me and started to tickle me, which made me trip on the floor. I lied on the floor chuckling and trying to escape. "Your... so... evil," I said, between laughs, as I tried to pull away from him. Yuzuki stopped as he looked down at me. "I've been wanting to do this for a while," he said, as he continued. He tickled me for a few minutes, then got up and walked back into the living room. I sighed as I prompted myself back up and stood. I studied Yuzuki as I took a deep breath. The others cracked a smile as Yuzuki sat back down. "Now she smiles," he said, as I shook my head. "Your still the evil one," I said, looking at the tv again. Yuzuki smiled as he looked back at the tv. "It's fun being the evil one. Especially when Haruhi plays along," he said as I chuckled. "Yeah. You both like to torture me at times," I said, as he settled back down in his seat. "We do it out of love," he said, as I looked at the tv myself. "Your love for torture," I said, under my breath. Yuzuki studied me again but didn't do anything.
I looked at the tv, then back to the group. "Does anyone know how Goushi and Haruhi are doing?" I asked, a little worry in my voice. "Yuuta went to check on Goushi and Haruhi hasn't come out yet," Kazuna explained. I nodded as I looked down the hallway. I studied the door to the basement in silence. I sighed as I pulled from the doorway. "I"m gonna check on him," I said, as I walked away from the doorway. "Alright. Yell if you need me," Yuzuki said, as I started to walk out. "Will do," I said, as I completely exited the room.
