Red Eyes and Headaches
Danyelle's POV
When we finally got home I threw my heels in the front closet. It wasn’t enough to have a monster headache oh no that would be getting off easy, my feet had to get blister from walking in those damn heels down the sidewalk. Vanessa can be screwed, next time I’m getting a piggy back ride home. I really wanted to take a long hot shower to soothe my aching body. I looked over at Vic who was standing near the stairs and knew that that little fantasy wasn't going to happen just yet.
He saw my gaze and asked, "So…where is she going to sleep?"
A smile crept up on my lips. He had called her 'she' instead of 'it' or 'vamp'. Maybe not her name but he would get there…eventually. "Well, I don't really know. She can't sleep in my room because… well she is a vampire, and the couch is off-limits so I guess your room is our best bet. I mean you have two beds anyway?" I didn't have anything against Vanessa sleeping in my room or anything but I felt miserable and just wanted to piss off Vic.
"What? No way! What's wrong with the couch?" Vic questioned with a pissed off expression on his face.
"Because what if she wakes up…then she could easily come into my room, and I know you wouldn't like that now would you?" I stated.
Through his gridded teeth he spoke, "N-No,"
"So then it's settled, she sleeps in your room."
"I only have the coffin-
"Well put her in that."
"Come on that's…" he hesitated then responded. “Fine,” He began to carry Vanessa up the stairs to his room when it hit me.
That was too easy,
I followed him to his bedroom, stalking behind him as he laughed to himself. He entered his room and it was a little hard to see anything with his curtain covering the only window in the room. I surveyed his room as he walked around with Vanessa. There was this big dark red bed under the window, his dresser was off to the other right side against the room and other than those things he had a giant blue table cloth lying over his oak coffin. That beast could fit a least two people in it, and the ginormous thing was dead center in the middle of the room.
Vic tossed Vanessa over his shoulder while he pulled the sheet off with one hand and pushed the HEAVY lid up.
Dude that thing weights a ton, how can he only lift it with one hand??
Vic is a vampire with super strength, think about it.
He gently lowered Vanessa into the soft black bedding of the coffin. He placed his hands on the side of the coffin as he looked down at her in a strange way. I couldn't put my fingerer on it but it was a confused slash longing kind of look or maybe he realized that this was the only girl he was ever going to get in his room. He placed his hand on her face than slowly moved a muddy piece of hair away from her lips. His hand lingered on her face almost like he liked the touch. I sighed lightly from the distance and his hand shot away as he quickly closed the lid. For a second I thought he had heard me and had become embarrassed, but then out of nowhere he pulled out this big ass lock and snapped it on the coffin.
Click .
"VICTOR!" I screamed. He spun around surprised.
"W-What are you doing in my room?" He yelled as he moved in front of the lock trying to block my view of it.
"Key," He gave an amused look but I still demanded for the key by extending my hand.
"I don't know what you're talking about," He folded his arms over his chest.
"Key or I'll burn your car." I demanded again. He let out a defeated sigh and reached down into his pocket, than tossed me the key. I snatched it in midair, walked over to the coffin, and jammed the key into the lock. When I heard the cheerful sounding click I unlatched the lock and grabbed it out of its slot. If I gave it back to him he would just put it back on the coffin and hide the damn key. I thought for a second then walked over to the window all the while giving Vic a deadly glare. I pushed back the curtains and opened the window.
"You wouldn't dare," Vic said,
I threw the lock out the window with as much force as I could muster and then gently eased down the widow.
"Party popper," Vic muttered
I glared at him until yet another idea struck me.
Wow two in one day, that must be a world record.
"Hey Vic, could you do me a favor and go pick up Vanessa's car?" I asked innocently.
"What?" He asked puzzled.
"Go pick up her car when you go to get yours." I instructed.
"Heck no, I'm not driving a chick car! You know what happens to a guy's rep if he's caught driving a chick car? Yeah bad things happen to those guys, like Pete from across the street. He's gone! That crazy news chick taped him driving a chick car and showed it at school. Then everyone threw rocks and chased him around town. No one has seen him since."
"Oh my gosh Vic, Pete got married and was moved to Texas, now stop being such a baby and trust me when I say Vanessa's car is not a chick car, it's an old rust bucket.”
"Fine, where are her keys?" Vic huffed.
I walked over to the coffin and commanded Vic to open it, he did after some well thought threats. I looked Vanessa over once; she didn’t bring a purse to the dance so she had to have her keys on her somewhere. I found them strapped onto her heel string. I undid the strap and looked at her key chain. The key chain alone was wicked. It had a blood red skull with black studs for eyes and the actual key to her car was a black bat and engraved on it were the words 'Bite Me' in red. I chuckled at the key then tossed it to Vic; he fumbled for it then looked it over. I saw a small twitch on his lips that he tried to conceal.
"All right," he said and started down the stairs.
I ran towards the door. "If I find so much as one scratch on that car, yours is scrap!" I yelled after him.
"Oh Come on!" he called back then I heard the front door slam shut.
I smiled as I left his room and walked into my bathroom. I took a thirty minute
hot shower and wiped off all the sweat, dirt and blood from my body. When I hopped out of the shower my aching muscles still felt tender. I was too tired to brush my teeth much less massage my muscles, so I started to make my way towards my bedroom. Once in my room I looked out my window, which over looked the driveway, and found Vanessa's car in perfect condition parked right next to Vic's. I smirked slightly as I closed the blinds.
Instead of falling right into my welcoming bed, I thought it might put my mind at ease if I went to go check on Vanessa first. I did it just to make sure that Vic hadn't done anything to her while I had been in the shower. When I went into Vic's room I found him holding his head in-between his hands. Vic was having another one of his headaches. He was on the edge of his bed rubbing his temples when I asked him if he was alright. He shook his head 'no'
"Just need to be alone."
"Do you want some aspirin?" I asked
He hesitated "No, it won't help this time."
I waited a moment until I asked my next question. "Vic, if she wakes up will you come and get me?"
He picked up his head looked at the closed coffin then to me. I took a quick step back; his eyes were red. He smiled but I could tell it was strained. "Sure,"
"Umm thanks." I slowly closed his door shut and banged my head against the wall.
I’m a horrible sister I hated when my body reacted that way around him. I just had to keep telling myself that Vic would never hurt me. I felt as if once I convinced myself of that I would be able to treat him like my brother again. I dragged feet on the floor all the way to my room as I mentally kicked myself for jumping back like that. I must have hurt his feelings.
As I looked at the ceiling in my room I started to wonder if Vic’s headaches were connected to him being a vampire. I mean he didn’t really get them when he was human so that means he had to be doing something wrong now that he was a vampire. I drifted off to sleep thinking about my brother. I felt like I had only been passed out for five minutes before Vic started pounding on my door like all hell was breaking loose.
