Chapter Three
Paul
We we're nervous, we we're excited, and we were aware that we we're going to cry.
Camp told us Percy would he coming home today, but they didn't give a time. So we set up stuff for his birthday and spoiled his presents because he's been gone and he also missed Christmas.
I hope he brings some friends. At least Grover.
As is like mandatory after a summer visit, we had his normal check up and then a psychological check up for next week. So hopefully those go well. Hopefully he's not like crippled too bad.
My parents were finally able to come here and meet Percy. They didn't make the wedding, sadly. They do live in Europe, though. I'm from Europe, the UK, but I came here in college.
So my moms were here and it was nice. They have met Sally, the summer we got engaged we went there for like a week. It was nice.
They were excited. Today would be the worst day to find out Percy's homophobic. Meeting my to Mom's.
It's not like my dad died and one of them is my step mom. No, they did a bone marrow thing so I'm both of theirs biologically and it's hard to explain, but they're my moms and I love them. Mum and Mére, Mom in French being I'm like half French and half English.
Yes, I am fluent in French. And Spanish. And I know Italian, too. My uncle lives in Italy so he taught me a lot of it. I learned Spanish in school, and I was bilingual by the time I was like 5 being French and all.
Percy got home and we surprised him and he seemed to enjoy it. He brought a few others with. Grover and Nico, of whom I knew. But we got to meet Leo and Jason. Jason was Thalia's brother, Leo was Leo. He seemed interesting.
Percy
I stopped worrying about Paul being homophobic when I saw he had two moms.
They were really nice, though. And with the others now knowing that I'm gay because I stopped caring about not being out to them and then Nico not having a say in being out, we could kind of do couple things and that was nice.
I mean, shit, I introduced him to Paul's parents as my boyfriend so that's how I came out to my parents.
It was such a relief to be home again, though. To be able to talk to my mom and to Paul just about whatever was so nice. I missed them a lot.
My dad never did show up, but for like the first year, I didn't care. It's his loss. If he wants to be a dead beat, that's fine. I have Paul and my mom and they're so much better than he ever will be.
The others stuck stuck around until like 5. Paul's parents helped clean up and we here until 7, which is when Nico and I went out for dinner. Promising my mom we'd come back for dessert.
And it's not like it was fancy. We went to McDonald's and got a ton of food before going to a remotely empty park and setting out a blanket. Eating, talking, being dorks.
He's so cute in his street clothes, though. Hot, too. But he looks really nice in them. Sure, he looks cute in camp clothes.
But shit, his skinny jeans were hot.
I'm a hormonal teenager, okay,? At least I don't get hard just by looking at him. I'm entitled to think he's hot, though.
He's like my boyfriend, after all.
"Hey, Nico." I asked, thinking about this with me and bit more now. "When did you realize that you were gay?"
He had to think back a while.
"I uh... I actually don't know," Nico told me. "I mean, my first major oh shit I have a huge ass crush moment happened a few years ago, I was probably 13. Maybe 12? But I mean, I remember being teased by dad about boys when I was little. When we moved to America I like had what I guess is the child version of a crush on this kid from Italy and I got really sad that I couldn't write to him or anything, and sometimes I am curious about if he ever went through camps or anything. But yeah. It just was kind of there. Why? Did you not always know?"
He
"My g v knew," I confirmed. "But I never really sa bew it. Yeah, boys were cute. So we're girls. I didn't want to like date, though. I actually realized it when I went to boarding school Grover. Not because of Grover, but shit there was this kid in my class and he was looking fine. But I was too chickenshit to ever ask him out. I'm glad I waited, I like you a lot more."
He just smiled and rolled his eyes.
"I'm flattered."
Nico
Jason gave me a lot of shit when I got back the next morning. After having dessert at Percy's place, Sally insisted I stay over.
It was a nice night, I actually went back to camp in a good mood. Met everyone at breakfast.
And gods did I get a lot of shit. But I mean, it's okay. I was happy.
Christmas I actually spent Christmas Eve at his House and he was here Christmas day. Hazel was in Canada, but I called her. I haven't told her about Percy just because I don't k go lnow how she feels about gay people and whatever else.
But Christmas was great. We found out that Sally was pregnant. And then yeah. I got to spoil the shit out of my boyfriend.
Valentine's we we're actually kind of lazy. Like we did some stuff, but we stayed in and ordered food. Watched some movies.
Life was good.
Hazel
Come summer, we we're back at Camp Half-Blood and I was excited. Both of us we're, we were excited to see our friends and I mean, my brother.
Funny enough, the first person we saw was Piper and she doesn't even stay here during the school year. She got here today, too. Looking for everyone else. We couldn't find Percy.
We did find the others, though. Percy and Nico we're missing, though.
"Hey guys," Frank said and looked around, noticing we had almost everyone. "Where's Nico and Percy? Doesn't Nico stay here?"
"They'll be back in a little bit." Leo insisted, nodding his head. "Percy got here the other day, came straight from school, but Chiron needed some things, so he sent them to the city. They'll be back before lunch."
"Do they get along now?" Annabeth was thinking the same thing I was.
"Oh, yeah!" Grover assured her, "after the memorial, they started getting along again. They're like best friends now."
"Seriously?" Frank asked, knowing that seemed off.
"Yeah," Jason backed it up, though. "It's nice that they don't argue anymore."
Grover sent them a text telling them that we we're here and waiting, and probably ten minutes later they were back. Seemed to be in really good mood, which was nice. I never did ask Nico about any girlfriends, I'll have to do that later. Pry at his love life.
But we we're at lunch, and just kind of talking about different things. Percy, Nico, and Frank we're getting their food still.
"Hey, Grover," Piper brought it up. "Does Percy have a girlfriend? Did we miss that or does he not have one?"
"Well I mean..." Grover answered. "He doesn't have a girlfriend."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I questioned.
"He has a boyfriend," Jason explained, which put a few of us in shock. "Don't feel bad, none of us saw it coming, either. It's not Leo, though."
"I'm still single." Leo updated us.
"I mean," Piper remarked. "You tried to get Nico. Before you found out he was straight?"
"It was one time!" Leo turned red in the face as we laughed. "I wasn't even trying to get with him. I just..."
I sighed.
"I'm sorry," I apologized for my brother, laughing with the others. "You tried, Leo. You really did. But he's into girls."
Leo sighed and the others returned.
"So you're not into Leo?" Annabeth joked with Nico, which like threw him off at first. But he got it, and kind of let off a small laugh.
"I appreciate the subtlety, but no," Nico responded. "Not really. You'll find somebody one day, Leo. Don't rush it."
"Yeah," Percy was one to talk, my gods. I don't think he was going to tell us about his boyfriend. "Don't rush it, man. I've never really dated anyone before and I'm two years older than you. You'll be fine."
"I'm sorry," Annabeth was calling him out on his shit, though. "I'm calling bullshit."
"We talked on the phone once, Annabeth." Percy told her. "We did not date."
"No, not that," she corrected him. "You're right, we didn't actually date, but I'm still calling bullshit."
"On what?"
Nico must know about this relationship between Percy and whoever else, because his mouth made an O, but activities saved Percy from coming out to us.
We all had an hour of activities and then I actually had 90 minutes, but when I got back to my cabin, Nico was there. Which was normal, he has an extra 30 minutes off before me.
He looked nervous, though.
"Hey, Nico...." I said and my voice drifted when he turned around to look at me. "Are you okay?"
"What? Yeah!" He insisted, nodding his head in response to my question. "I'm pretty good, but uh... There's something I need to tell you."
"You're not dating Leo, are you?" I asked him, because let's be honest, I knew Nico was gay last year. Not long after we got to Camp Jupiter, it wasn't hard to figure out.
I saw how he looked at the hot guys, and Percy.
He checks out guys all the time. I'm surprised I haven't seen him do it today. He's not very subtle about it anymore. He used to be.
I don't care what they say, Nico isn't into Annabeth. He's gay.
"What I... No." Nico remarked. "Where did you...?"
"Well I mean, we wer joking about it at lunch when you guys were getting food." I explained. "You know. Giving him shit for checking you out. It's not like you're straight, Nico. I'm not dumb. I only say you are because I know you're not out. So unless you're going to tell me that you have a boyfriend..."
"Wow," Nico remarked and sighed. "And here I thought I'd actually have to tell you that I'm gay. And don't worry, I'm not dating Leo."
"So who are you dating?" I asked him, glad he'd tell me this stuff now. "You wouldn't bother telling me you're gay unless you had a boyfriend or a guy you're trying to get."
He just smiled at me.
"Percy."
