Chapter 6 - "I always keep my Promises..."

Jenna's PoV

'He promised he would come back and I'm sure he will' Lilly tried to comfort me in English. 'Anyway. Stop mumbling. Here's your badge' she said and pinned an 18 badge on my boob. 'Your the only one out of us all that can legally drink so stop complaining' she smiled.

'Fine' I grumbled.

'Hey Jenna' Sam said as he came into the lesson.

'Hey' I said and he handed me a gift bag.

'Happy Birthday' he smiled and kissed me.

In case your wondering, Matt moving away a few months previous had given me the perfect opportunity to move on.

I was going to tell him when I visited him but we were having such a great time that we never got a chance.

I never got a chance to drop that bomb on him.

'Thanks' I smiled back and analysed the gift cared for forever 21. 'I'll spend that tomorrow' I laughed.

'What times the party then?' Richard asked.

'Starts at 7 but you guys can come a bit earlier' I said. Lilly was coming round straight after school to help me set up anyway.

I had a pretty good day overall at school. I only had like two lessons so I finished school at 1 o clock anyway, and then went home.

'Hey Dad'

'Hey Clara. So when are you going to start your driving lessons?' My dad asked and I shrugged my shoulders.

'Whenever really' I said. I was really great full that he had bought me my first block of 10 driving lessons so I would finally be able to learn to drive.

'Hey, calm down on the decorations. I don't want it to be overboard' I scolded Lilly, but she was putting '18' balloons up everywhere.

'Here have your first drink as a legal adult' Sam said handing me a bottle of beer and wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

I smiled and settled into the party.

'Hey dude. You made it?' Richard smiled and punched him playfully on the arm.

'Yeah. I had a read through for episode three this afternoon, but I said I'd come back so here I am' he said chuffed.

'Well you'd better get in there then before Jenna gets legally drunk'

I went to the toilet and when I came down the stairs the doorbell rang. More people? Jesus how many people had Lilly possibly invited?

'Happy Birthday' Matt said when I opened the door.

'You came back?'

'I always keep my promises Clara' he smiled as I embraced him in a tight hug.

'Oh my god. I'm so glad your here' I smiled. And I really was.

I hadn't seen him in months now or even heard from him in a few days.

'Here's your present' he said handing me a box.

'I thought you had a read through?'

'I did but it was this afternoon. I literally left afterwards. And I don't need to go back until Sunday afternoon'

'Seriously?'

'Yeah so we can spend tomorrow together?'

'No' I said knowing I already technically had plans but really wanted to spend the afternoon with him.

He pouted offended.

'It's not that I don't want too, but I'm going shopping with Richard, Lilly and Sam' I said awkwardly.

'Who's Sam?'

'Oh. My umm... Boyfriend' I said casually.

'He took it quite well' I said to Richard.

'Really?'

'Yeah. I invited him with us tomorrow. He's back so I might as well spend time with him' I shrugged totally desperate to spend time with him. Since he was here I might as well make the most of it.

'What did he buy you?'

'The most amazing necklace. See' I said holding the tiny heart in my hand. I knew it was expensive, but he had, had engraved my date of birth on it, and so I knew it was special.

My name was engraved on the front and inside the little locket was the four of us together on holiday last year.

It was a expensive present that he didn't have to buy but I know that he had money now and he has no one else to spend it on so I was totally great full.

'Dude?' Richard said, later that evening stopping by Janes.

'She's got a boyfriend?' Matt asked. 'She's got a Fucking boyfriend' Matt scoffed.

'Umm yeah'

'How long?'

'About 3 weeks. I don't see it lasting'

'Have they slept together?'

'We don't know. She won't tell us anything. I think she's just using him as a distraction'

'A distraction from what?'

'Yeah. The fact that her best friend emigrated abroad. She missed you and she hates not seeing you'

'I hate not seeing her... But it's life. I think I'll just go back to Cardiff tonight' he mumbled.

'But she was so happy to see you' Richard said. 'You can't just leave again'

'Well I am. I'm not wanted so I'll see you guys at Christmas' Matt said and wandered away.
