Chapter 3 - "This isnt Goodbye..."

Jenna's PoV

'It's our last night together for ages' I said as we made out way back too mine.

'I promise I'll try to come back for your 18th Birthday Party' he said and I smiled.

'You don't have too' I said rolling my eyes. Of course I'd love it if he was here but if he's not then he's not.

'Your kidding right? I'm not going to miss my best friends 18th Birthday party'

'How long will you be filming for?'

'We film between now and next July and then we go into press from the end of July to October and then back to filming from November for the Christmas special'

'Okay. So I'm never going to get to see you' I sighed.

'You will. I'll always make time for my friends'

That's what he says now... But once he's famous and has a successful acting career. He won't need me or any of his old friends. He'll have better friends.

'Oi dude. Your film pick' Richard shouted. 'Oh' he looked down at me and I think he only said it because he knew how sad I was. 'Star Wars Marathon' he said and jumped onto the sofa.

'Ugh. Not again dude' Richard complained.

'Hey it's my pick'

I ran off to get popcorn and sweets from the kitchen. 'Anyone want a drink?' I shouted through.

'Dude you have to tell her. You can't go to Cardiff without telling her' Richard said to Matt.

'I can't tell her. She won't want a long distance relationship'

'You don't know what she'll want unless you tell her?'

'I know that she won't want me. We're just good friends' John mumbled. The truth being that since the hormones kicked in Matt had fallen for Jenna as way more than a friend. 'I'll still see her so it won't matter anyway. But there's no point trying to complicate things anymore than what they are'

'Return of The Jedi again?' Richard complained.

'I like the Ewoks. There so cute and adorable' I said snuggling on the sofa.

We all fell asleep there that night.

But when I woke up I realised that Matt had already gone. I knew he would have had to leave because his train goes at 1 o clock.

'Shit. Oh my god Lilly wake up' I begged and ran up stairs.

'What?'

'We stayed up so late that we over slept. It's 11 o clock and we have to be at the station for half 12. I will not miss my best friend go away to the biggest thing of his life' I shouted at them.

'Yeah. Alright well get you there don't worry Jen' Richard comforted but I wasn't too sure.

'I can't go yet. Their not here' Matt said to Jane and she smiled comfortingly.

'I know Matt, but there's nothing you can do. You start filming tomorrow so you have to be there' she said.

'Come on Jen'

'Your only in Wales. They'll come and visit Matt'

He was getting worried now. Maybe the fact that she hadn't come was because she was resenting him for moving away.

'Matt' Jenna shouted. He knew straight away it was me and turned around.

'Oh my god Jenna. Thank god you guys made it' he said happily.

We sort of appeared huffing and puffing, as we had clearly rushed but it didn't matter because at least we had got there to say goodbye.

'Right dude. I wanna hear all about it. I expect a phone call at least three times a week'

'Be serious dude. It'll be every day. I've not even met my co stars yet' he said as him and Richard had one of those awkward man moments.

They went in for one of those annoying bro hugs but changed they their mind in the last second and hugged properly.

'See you later Matt' Lilly said and gave him a hug.

'Hey Lil. Let's just give them a moment' I heard Richard say but I was already crying.

I looked at my watch and got upset.

'You've got to go in 5 minutes' I said sadly. 'You'll call as soon as you get there?' I asked.

'I'm going to Wales not Australia' he said slapping my chest.

'I know but your my best friend and I don't really want you to leave, but you have too and you know that' I said and he pushed my hair out of my face. 'I want you to go. You have to. This is good for you and a great opportunity' I said pushing him to go.

I didn't want him to change his mind.

It was a big step for Matt to take. Especially since he was going alone and he knew full well that this might not work out.

'Matt Smith?' He heard someone say as he arrived at what was to be his flat for the next year or so.

'That's me. Steven great to see you again' he said shaking his hand.

'Matt so glad you made it. Filming starts at midday tomorrow where we'll film the regeneration, then we'll get you to wardrobe and sort out your costume' he said. 'Now follow me'

He literally had enough time to put his bag in and kick the door before he was whisked away to Stevens house.

'Here the script for your first episode. The Eleventh hour. You would have seen it at the audition but not a completed one. Learn the lines and here's the schedule' he was handing him so much paper work he didn't have time to think - this was obviously something he had to get used too. 'First photo shoot is Sunday afternoon. Which is why the costume had to be chosen tomorrow'

'Okay' Matt agreed and he smiled.

'I know it's a big step but I think we can all do this. Now let's go to the read through'

Matt had never been to a proper read through before so he wasn't entirely sure what it would entail, but it was quite fun.

'Now this is Karen, she plays Amy Pond... Your companion'.

'Nice to meet you Matt' she said and they hit it off as good friends there straight away. He knew that they were going to have to be good friends because you can't exactly not get along with your companion.

'This is Arthur. He'll be Amy's love interest in the series, but I'm still writing episode 7 onwards so it's uncertain on his fate'

'Great to know' Arthur mumbled and Matt grinned.

'So Matt... Your pretty young right?' Karen asked.

'17. I'll be 18 in October. October 28th' He said as they all sat down.

'Your quite polite and intelligent for your age, although I'm 21 and mad' she grinned as they started the read through.

Already he could tell she was as mad as w box of cats.

Matt quite enjoyed the read through, and the script was amazing. He just hoped it makes the Big Bang that they all want it too, and that people will accept him as the Doctor.

'You've only been there like 6 hours dude and you've already been to a read through?' Richard asked.

'Yeah. There's no hanging around. I go to set tomorrow to film the regeneration. I'm kind of nervous for that'

'Don't be. I've seen you acting and I know you'll be great. So did you get the first script?'

'It's super secret Richard I can't tell you' he said holding the paper in his hand just to tease him.

'Oh come on. We're all gonna watch when it comes out. I just want to see what happens'

'No. You'll just have to go back to your fan websites and watch out for us on locations' Matt said smirking.

'Have you put any thought into what your Doctors going to be like. You'll have to be good to follow in David's footsteps'

'Yeah I know. But I'm just going to go with the flow. There's no point worrying about it and rushing it. But I have an idea of costume'

'Go on...'

'Completely nerdy. Steven agrees. I'm doing a costume fitting tomorrow afternoon'

'But you'll show me that though right?'

'No. No spoilers' He said laughing and Richard pouted like a love sick puppy.

'So have you told Clara yet?'

'About what?'

'About you and Lilly. You can't keep it secret forever' Matt said.

'We can try. I just don't think now is a good time'

'Is it because I left?'

'Something like that' Richard mumbled.

They spoke for about another half an hour before Matt decided be needed sleep and he wanted to try and get his flat in some sort of order.

He'd have to get Clara here at some points to come and organise the flat for him. She'd love that.
