It was early morning the next day. She woke up at the crack of dawn and dressed herself in yesterday's attire. Today was her first day on the job. She made herself as presentable as possible for not having showered in the past few days and headed to the diner. She walked in to the smell of eggs and toast as her mouth began to water. She skipped breakfast because she was rationing out the cash she had left on her. Gustavo was the cook that morning making the savory aroma that filled her nose and soon hit her stomach.
The door chimes whispered their sound as the door closed behind her and Gustavo turned to face the new recruit, "Aye! Welcome to the Shamrock Diner!" His voice was heavily accented and warm. For a big fella he seemed like a gentle giant. "You must be the new waitress Jake was bustlin' about all few days passed" he said, grinning and making his rosy cheeks more pronounced. Morgan nodded and gave back a grin of equal warmth, "can't be late on my first day!" She said with such excitement and vigor. Gustavo handed her a uniform and sent Morgan to the back to get changed. The place was bigger on the inside. Retro feel (just like any mom and pop diner from the movies), booths and tables, a grand counter to sit and watch the chef work; it was still big. She even had her own locker! When she settled in there, she cleaned herself up a bit more in the employee restroom and made her way to the front. It was almost time to open and she was ready. Today was going to be a great day!
Morgan had begun to buff the tables when Jake came in a little after opening time. He was a pale brunette with striking blue eyes. 'Looks like the guy from twilight...' Morgan thought to herself, rolling her eyes and continuing her task. She didn't remember Jake too well. From when she interviewed, he had a cap on and they didn't really talk. He just read her resume she wrote at the library and accepted her with open arms. Literally. He gave her a hug before she left. 'Weird...' He set his stuff in the back and came out to the front he smiled big and turned the sign over on the door. "Today's a new day!"
He turned to face the noobie and his eyes widened with excitement, "Morgan!" Morgan was less than impressed by this dude's enthusiasm but she rolled with it. I mean, he was some good eye candy and technically her boss so she didn't have much choice either way. "Hey there, boss" she said with a slight smirk, "ready to teach me the ropes of this place?" She asked, ready to learn and start her first day. "Oh! Yeah! Just take the order, bring it to Gustavo and have fun with the customers. They're people too, ask about their day or something." Jake replied, gave a toothy grin and went to the back to help out Gustavo. "Take order, put it in, have fun" Morgan repeated to herself. As the door chimes twinkled their sound when the door opened, the day officially began.
