Girls Night In

Various snacks and drinks were set up. The movie line up was ready to go and the company was good. Well, it was good to Brooklyn and Katherine. Feister however looked like she was on the verge of sneaking of the fire escape and crashing the boys night. Which wouldn't be out of character for her, but Katherine had all but given her a pointed look and said to play nice. Brooklyn just wanted things to go smoothly. The reason why for Feister's mood was simple. It wasn't just her, Brooklyn and Katherine. It was also with three other girls she barely met. As in this was a girlfriend night. Well, ok, the label in question was a little strong for the newcomers, but they had been around long enough so what was the point anyways. The not yet girlfriends in question were Isabelle, Kimberly and Sophia. Finch, Buttons and Kid Blink's girls respectively. Yes, the three in question have hung out with the group here and there, but the six of them without the boys hadn't. Which is why Katheine had thought it'd be a good time for some bonding and whatnot.

Another reason why Feister was grumpy was because Katherine didn't live at the apartment, therefore it should be happening at her place. But Katherine's studio wasn't big enough for such an event, and since Brooklyn had agreed here they are. Where was her vote? Down the drain apparently. She didn't know how to do the whole girl bonding thing. Unless you count her former roommate and study buddy Alyssa. But in the same breath, Alyssa had like four brothers and was on the same wavelength as her.

It wasn't that she didn't get along with the newcomers it was more along the lines of - actually the part Feister was dreading was seeing the girls for who they really are now that the boys aren't around. The memories from high school came flooding back all at once. It wasn't just Mush she had to deal with, but also the other boys. Apparently, not everybody liked having a little sister around. And ok there may have been a few times where Feister had to pull out the whole "you hurt him I hurt you" card. Fine. it was more like every time. But she's matured since then. Race had joked she had been tamed now that there's a ring on her finger. To say the least Race ended up with a bruise on his shoulder the size of her fist.

"Oh my gosh your place is so adorable," Sophia, Buttons' girl, gushed as she sat down on the couch with a non alcoholic drink in hand.

"Brooklyn has an eye for cozy décor," Feister replied before grabbing a handful of gummy bears from the sweet grazing board. In total there were three sitting on the coffee table. One being a meat and cheese board and the other with fruit. Of course they had also ordered a large pizza to go along with everything else. Though, no girls night would be complete without face masks and all those other fun beauty finds. As Brooklyn had told her once upon a time. Feister had nothing against self care, but the company was questionable. Mush, being one step ahead as always had told her to "play nice" for the night. The other boys had as well. Which, in Feister's opinion, they were being over dramatic. When has she ever not played nice?

"Hey, you're the bargain finder out of the two of us," Brooklyn said, tossing a pillow in Feister's direction. "Feisty was the one who picked out the blankets, and pillows and the dishware. Oh and her fashion sense, pure NYC street style." picking up the remote she began to set the tv up for the first line up of the night. They came to an agreement over text to binge The Summer I Turned Pretty.

"I love this show," Sophia said with a little sigh.

"Me too," Brooklyn nodded in agreement.

"Really?" Feister said with a smirk. "I had no idea. Ya know since you screamed at least once an episode, and had the biggest freak out known to man during the ball scene."

"They played The Way I Loved You!" Brooklyn stated.

"You cried during the saddest scene, known to man. Then proceeded to freak out during that last scene when Belly and Conrad finally kiss."

"You had the same reactions to Clone Wars! At five in the morning!" Brooklyn pointed out.

"Oh, let's not forget when you read Rogue," Feister added. "What happened again?" she thought for a moment, though she didn't need to do that. "Oh, that's right. Albert came brawlin' in like a mad man armed with a baseball bat in nothin' but his space ship boxers." as she spoke her voice became deadpanned. Much like her reaction to said incident. She had been in the middle of painting her toe nails and didn't so much as flinch when the door broke off it's hinges while Brooklyn had jumped several feet into the air.

"Fenn and Casey are end game! Lawson had no right!" Brooklyn said.

Then the two girls shared a laugh. Though this was supposed to be a bonding experience, there's some things that can't be ignored. Their sisterhood is something special. It goes without saying that Feister's much closer to Brooklyn than Katherine. It's not because she's Mush's sister. Feister knows that even if there was no relation there, she still would've made friends with the freckled girl.

"Clone Wars? Kimberly asked. "As in, Star Wars?"

"What else would it be," Feister replied, her voice taking a slight defensive tone.

"Isn't that like, a kids show?"

In a split of a second, Katherine and Brooklyn side eyed each other. It wasn't the worst thing to say to Feister but given the circumstances and her time ticking bomb personality things could go south pretty quickly.

"Right, right because a kid's show would create soldiers just for the sake of war and not care what happens to them afterwards. Or how children are sent into battle while training to become a knight. How about taking a prisoner of war, turning him into half machine and usin' him as a source of intel. Getting' chopped in half by a door. Yeah that's fun. Just, gettin' killed in cold blood as a means to draw your sworn enemy in because he cut you in half like twenty somethin' years ago and you just keep plottin' said revenge until the day you die." in true Feister fashion, she spoke without missing a single beat or stuttering. And, thankfully, she was calm. Or as calm as Feister could be in the moment.

"Yeah Clone Wars gets pretty dark at times," Isabelle agreed. "What about Batch's season one final? I mean, having the clones destroy their home is cruel."

Out of the three girls that were currently in the living room, Isabelle was the one Feister liked the most. Finch had gotten a gig at a new place that opened up. Family friendly during the day then caters to the college crowd by night. His first show there he had caught sights of Isabelle, she gave him her number and ever since then they've been hitting it off. From what she's gathered Finch is going to ask to make this official. But knowing him he'll keep putting it off then out of no where drop the bomb randomly.

Feister can't say the same for the other two. Sophia seemed alright for the most part. Definitely one of the better girls Blink has set his sights on. She can't say the same for Kimberly. She doesn't know how Buttons met her but Feister could already tell Kimberly was everything she hated. Preppy cheerleader, sorority type. Blinding blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.

"So..." Kimberly dragged out. "That must mean you're one of the boys."

"Then it'll really shock you that I also like skateboardin', know how to throw a ball halfway across a field and I know how to use my fists." all the while a sweet smile was on her face, which wasn't a good sign. "Gotta a problem with that sweetheart."

"Mush! C'mon man pay attention!" Kid Blink encouraged. At the moment the boys were at their place. Cans of soda and two large pizzas later the apartment had turned into a bit of a mess. Even if they weren't in college said mess would've happened anyways. But everyone would do their part to clean up when the night's over. Anyways, a racing game was up on the screen. Mush and Albert were going head to head. They had this whole bracket system that involved pulling names out of a hat to see who would be on which side. It was a simple task, but in the same breath they had to make it complicated. But that's a story for another time.

"It ain't that Blink. Mush is just bad," Albert stated, his eyes never leaving the screen while his fingers worked away at the controller.

"Bad is the hair cut you had in middle school," Mush quipped back.

"Please, Feisty could come up with a better insult than that," Albert scoffed.

"Yeah? And if she were here right now she'd be kickin' your bum."

"Oh. Sendin' your girl in to do all your dirty work."

"You and I both know she would've kicked me out and taken over a long time ago."

Though nobody wanted to admit it, it was weird not having Feister around throwing out some smart remark, or being a backseat gamer. Telling them what they're doing wrong and so on. But when it came down to it, Feister was the real ace when it came to video games. Her fingers were much smaller and faster than any of theirs. Plus her ability to smack talk without losing focus was a plus side. Sadly she wasn't here, much to her dismay as the boys all figured, but there wasn't much she could do about it. All in all, it was nice that she was getting some quality time with girls besides Kath and Brooklyn. In the same breath there was some worry that something was going to go wrong. Whatever that may be, Feister would most likely be the center of it.

In mere seconds, Albert won the race. He sat up and shouted in victory while Mush threw down the controller. "And that's what happens when you don't keep your head in the game," Albert said.

"It ain't my fault Feisty's chewin' out one of the girls right now," Mush replied. "Probably Katie? Kailey? Whatever the hell her name is."

"Kimberly," Buttons corrected. "And how do you know she's doin' that?" he asked. A hint of worry was laced in his voice. It wasn't totally unbelievable. Actually it'd be more surprising if Feister behaved the entire night. But Mush and the whole second sense thing is where the creepy factor came into play.

"Cause I know my girl," he said with proudness pouring out. "And I know she just pulled out the "sweetheart" card."

"Werido," Race called from where he sat.

"Say whatever you want we all know she was gonna beef it out with somebody."

"No it's true," Albert replied.

"Oh so do you have telepathy with Feisty now?" Race asked.

"Nah, Freckles texted. Said to tell Buttons to kiss his girl goodbye. Accordin' to her, the chew out is about to begin."

"And I can't witness it," Sniper grumbled.

"And I'm about to be single again," Buttons pointed out.

"Or, she saved your sorry bum from a life long misery," Mush replied with a shrug.

"Oh please if anybody is the pick me girl in this room, it's you." Feister replied. "There is a major difference between not likin' say, pink and out right likin' it for attention. Which is what you are. A desperate attention seekin' witch. "Oh, I'm only in a snooty sorority because I'm legacy and didn't have a choice". "I'm only in the cheer squad because all my friends did it". "I'm not even that good, they only made me the flier because I'm so small and tiny'." as she spoke, her voice became all high pitched and annoying as she could possibly make it. "Please, we all know that dumb frat brothers and all the meat head athletes fall for that. Word has it, during spring break you got pretty cozy with the, what was it again? Two of the d-men from the hockey team."

"How dare you!" Kimberly said in outrage. "That's a rumor some freshmen came up with. Fake little snitch is jealous she didn't get into Kappa Alpha Theta."

"Oh my gosh. One, speak English, and two the only fake thing here is your hair. Honey, you're not foolin' anybody in this room. We all know you dye your hair that color. I've seen dogs blonder than you. But at least that's all natural. And do not get me started on those things you call nails. You actually paid a hundred bucks for somethin' that'll fall off? Please. I'm surprised those claws aren't considered a weapon deemed illegal."

Kimberly was too stunned to speak. She stood there, mouth slightly open as if a come back or some snide remark would appear at any second. But it never came. Instead, she said, "I hope you know it's over with-"

"Oh please I just saved him six months of misery. Don't let the door hit you on the way out." once again, that sweet smile crossed her lips as she waved her hand.

Gathering her things Kimberly stormed out with a hard slam of the door.

There was a moment of silence.

Then.

"So, Summer I Turned Pretty, yeah?" Feister said as she plopped down on the couch and she grabbed the large bowl of popcorn. "Hey! You know what I just realized, the character's full name, is Isabel, and we've got an Isabelle. Did anyone ever call you Belly? You don't have to answer, obviously. I just made that connection." she laughed just as she ate a handful of popcorn. "What?"

"What did I just witness?" Sophia slowly asked. "Or get myself into, I should say."

"Eh, she usually can't calm herself down that quickly so that's progress," Brooklyn replied.

Retaking her place on the couch and hugging a pillow close to her chest, Katherine said, "Or maybe it's the whole bride to be bliss."

"Yeah let's go with that." Feister nodded.

"Don't worry Soph. if Feisty didn't like you, she would've scared you off by now," Isabelle reassured.

"And how do you know that?" Feister asked, eyeing the brunette carefully.

"Because you would've done the same to me," Isabelle replied. "Admit it, I'm not half bad, huh?"

"You're alright." Feister shrugged. Her face then turned serious as she eyed the other girl. "But if you hurt him I will come after you. Same goes to you, Sophie. And, not to put any pressure on you or anythin' but....the pressure is on. Dunno where you're goin' with Blink but since he's Mush's best friend, and I'm with Mush. we're gonna be seein' a lot of each other. So watch your back.

"Don't worry, I don't think Blink wants to be in the serious with me anyways."

"Oh please you're one of the better girls he's brought home." she said it like it was nothing. But to Feister it was everything. As protective as she is, she knows when one of the boys, her boys, get it bad. She's seen a lot. Been through many ups, downs, and heartbreaks. She was the one who would set them straight after something went wrong after all. Brutally honest and all that. Yet, as much as she hated seeing her brothers with bad apples, she felt bad to see them so defeated in the aftermath even if they were the ones who did the heart breaking. Now that they're all older and seem to be going into the serious, long term relationship thing, she's happy. Even more so when the girl is a right fit. "And, off the record. He's asked me and Mush for textin' advice. Some snoopin' may have been involved as well."

"Snooping as in...."

"Favorite color. Ice cream. Food in general. That sorta thing." again, Feister said it like it wasn't that important.

"Ok your whole one-eighty thing is really scaring me."

"You say scary, I say it's talent."

───── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ─────

"Mush whatever you're smilin' bout, stop it. It's gettin' creepy," Kid Blink said as he shoved Mush's head to the side.

"I ain't smilin'," Mush protested. "And just for that, I shouldn't tell you this but for your information, Feisty and Sophie are gettin' along."

"I don't believe that."

"Why not?" Jojo asked. "We already established that Mush has fifth sense when it comes to Feisty."

"Not that part," Kid Blink replied. "Ok yeah that is freaky. But the part bout Feisty gettin' along with Soph."

"Hey, she got along with Isabelle," Finch pointed out.

"Yeah but she's, as you so sappily put it, sweeter than southern honey," Sniper said.

A small smile creeped onto Finch's face. He seemed to get a far away look as he hugged the pillow closer to his chest. "Yeah...she is. She's a human fairy come to life."

"Oh save it for your sleep," Sniper grumbled as he took the pillow from Finch and whacked him with it as hard as he possibly could.

Author's note

Yay for fun random chapters. I hope you guys enjoyed the news editions to the newsies family, Isabelle and Sophie. They'll be making small appearances here and there in future works, but for now, I thought this would be a fun way to bring them in, plus, a girls night chapter seemed like a fun idea. But Feister plus a girls night somewhat against her will is obviously going to have a little bump. Oh, how I've missed writing her blow ups. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed, thanks for reading and I'll see you next week.
