"Ah! When will you be done?" Jungkook whines while looking at Soojin, who's still fully engrossed with her books.

"Oh Kookie! It has just been an hour! C'mon, what's up with you today? You were studying well these days..," she frowns and stares at him.

Jungkook just huffs and plops onto his bed. Like he had promised himself, he started giving time to his studies, with his clear motive of helping out his parents somehow. But he just kept on drifting soon when he started to focus on his academics. He realised that academics is just not for him.

Jungkook stares at Soojin with those doe eyes and a cute pout, while several thoughts are running in his mind. He doesn't know why but he always feels a tingling sensation in his chest when he looks at her. Ah... She's just so perfect!

Just then, Soojin looks up from her book towards Jungkook. She raises her eyebrows, witnessing him staring at her, "You okay, Kookie?"

"Ah...," Jungkook shakes his head as he flushes in embarrassment. Shit! You were staring at her like a creep!

Soojin just chuckles at his cute behavior and closes her book, "Alright, I'm done. You ready to listen to it?"

Jungkook almost jumps out in excitement, "Yess!! I'm on all my ears to my ears to listen to our great songwriter, Kim Soojin's new song!!"

Soojin giggles, "Hey, Stop it!" she covers her mouth as she giggles. He never fails to cheer her up. Songwriting has been one of her favorite hobbies. She has been writing songs from a very young age. They always helped her to feel a bit lighter from those overwhelming emotions. But she had no one to share those amazing songs, until Jungkook came into her life. He has always been there for her for everything.

As Soojin sings out her new song, adding a new, sweet tone to it, Jungkook watches her with admiration. He always does, thought it was always Soojin who never noticed it. There is always a strange spark in his doe eyes, whenever he stares at her. Why not? She's one of those people he can't imagine his life without.

"Kookie?"

Jungkook widens his eyes and bites his lower lip. Shit! Not again!!

"Where were you lost? Did you even listen to it?" she frowns and pouts.

"Of course, I did! In fact, I was lost in the lyrics!" he lies, trying to be natural. There's no way he would be telling her that he was lost staring at her.

Soojin purses her lips, "So.... How was it? Was it good..?" she asks nervously.

"If you ask me...," his voice trailed away as he looked up, pretending to think something. He pressed his lips together, trying not to grin. Actually, he's just teasing her.

Soojin stares at him with big eyes, eager to know his judgement.

"The best lyrics ever!! C'mon!!! You should try for an audition!" he jumps up in excitement, punching the air. He really loves her songs. He looks at her with those sparkling eyes, expecting to see her grinning but to his surprise, her expression changed into a frown.

"Stop it Kookie! How much will I tell you..? I'm not meant for this!!" she says while looking down and sighing.

"You're not meant for this?!" he says that in a shocked tone as he walks towards her. She gulps and is confused about what he's about to do. But suddenly, she flinches when he snatches her notebook from her hands. "This-" he points at it, "You ARE meant for this! At this age, just 10, these lyrics are too good and meaningful for someone to write!"

"But Kook-" Soojin huffs trying to explain herself before he interrupts her again.

"Why don't you just imagine us being idols? Us being a duo.... Umm maybe... Sookook...or JeonKim? We'll be popular all over Korea!! Jeon Jungkook and Kim Soojin--" he makes up a whole new world in his imagination.

"Please, STOP!" Soojin groans in frustration, "I can't be an idol! All I can do is... Just in academics. That's where my future lies! I've no guarantee being an idol!"

Jungkook closes his eyes shut and sighs. That's the very same answer he gets everyday for suggesting her to try for auditions. He strongly believes she's completely fit for it but doesn't know how to convince her.

Soojin stares at sulky Jungkook with a frown, "Why don't you go and try for it?"

"Huh?"

"Yes. You've the best voice in our school. In fact, you're well known for your dancing skills and soothing voice. You're the one who'll pass in one go. Go for it," Soojin suggests him.

"Are you serious?" Jungkook scoffs, "You think... I'll go without you? No thanks!"

"Hey! What kinda reason is that?" Soojin looks at him with disbelief with what he just said.

"Yes! I ain't doing anything without you! If you want me to go, you've to come too!" Jungkook says, being adamant.

"Fine!" Soojin sighs, "I wanna be in the civil services, you coming with me, aren't you then?" she remarks, being adamant too. That shuts Jungkook. He knows he won't be making it to the civil services.

"See?" she walks up to him and sits beside him, "Our paths have to be different. We're made for different things, Kookie... "

"But...," he looks at her eyes, "I can't live without you.... Really... " he nibbles on his lower lip. "How can I live without my best friend?"

"Hey! Won't we be meeting again after getting jobs?" she chuckles, "We need to follow our passions... That's the best!"

He just nods to her words while his heart says something else.

A few days pass by. Jungkook didn't bring up the topic of audition anymore. They would just sing and play karaoke but didn't bring out that topic again.

A normal day. Soojin was waiting outside the school gate waiting for Jungkook so that they can walk home together. But to her surprise, it's Junghyun.

"Hey Suju! Sorry for being late! Let's go home!" he huffs, tired from all that running.

Soojin is confused. Where's Kookie? "But Oppa... Kookie? Where's he?"

"Ah Kookie... He said he got some important work. He left with his friends. Told me to take you home."

Work? What work? He didn't tell me...

Soojin just silently walks home with Junghyun, missing Jungkook. She was curious what kinda work it was that he didn't tell her. He usually shares everything. "Oppa, did he tell you what work he had?"

Junghyun shakes his head, "Nah... I don't know what my brother is up to. He began keeping secrets, huh?" he just chuckles, "You both grew up fast, you know... Both of you. I feel old sometimes though I'm just two years older than him," he jokes.

Soojin just gives a fake laugh to it. What might he be hiding...? She gets worried and overthinks about various reasons. Did he make a new best friend? Or perhaps a girl friend?! Oh no no... He's just thirteen!!

They soon reach home. Soojin expected an as usual jolly Jungkook to hug her tight but there was no trace of him, rather it was Mrs. Jeon, "Oh you both are back... Come in!"

They both open their shoes and keep it near the doorstep.

"Aajuma... Where's Kookie?" Soojin finally voices out her concern.

"Oh, he's in his room." Soojin nods to her words, "I guess he has a surprise for you. I saw him bring something... "

Surprise?! What?!

"Oh yeah... Please freshen up soon and get ready. Haru called a few minutes ago and informed that he has a dinner party with his boss today. He will take you too," Mrs. Jeon gave her a warm smile which Soojin reflected back.

Soojin quickly rushes to Jungkook's room, anxious to see him. She's actually concerned for him. She opens the door and rushes in, "Kookie...!"

Jungkook flinches at her voice. He turns around to look at her and smiles at her awkwardly, "Ah Sujuu.... You're back... "

Soojin frowns at his strange reaction, "What's wrong?  Where were you?"

"Ah... I... Umm.. Actually... " he looks around, trying not to maintain the eye contact, "You... You freshen up first... I'll tell you then!"

"You're hiding something... Aren't you?" her voice trails away, as fear takes over her. What is he hiding from me?! She sighs and goes to the restroom to freshen up and changes into comfortable clothes. All this time, her mind is filled with only Jungkook. Is it that serious that he's so reluctant to share?

She went back to his room and saw him sitting on his bed awkwardly, his hands on his lap while he's looking down. There is still a tension lingering between them. She takes slow steps towards him and takes a seat beside him. There is a deafening silence between them, so quiet that even their breaths can be heard.

Soojin decided to break it by saying, "So... What is it...?"

Jungkook just gulps and looks at her.

"I'm ready to listen to you... Whatever it is... Just say it..."

He sucks in a deep breath and then speaks, "See... I know you'll angry but please... Don't scold me...." he brings out something from his side, Soojin can hear a ruffle of paper. Jungkook holds two piece of paper in his hands, hesitant to show her.

"This... I brought this... For us...," he gives her the papers and turns his head to the side.

Soojin takes it, her eyes filled with curiosity as she reads through it.

"W-What?!!!" hey eyes widen up on reading it. Why? Why did he?!

Jungkook stares at her, "Hey Suju... I--"

"Why? Why did you?! I told you not to, Kookie!!" she yells at him, "I'm not meant for it!!"

Jungkook clenches his jaw and couldn't hold back, "What can I do?! I can't go alone!! I need you with me!!"

"Oh, stop being childish!!!" she groans.

"I'm not!" Jungkook yells back, "Oh c'mon!! If not for audition, Just give me a company!! Can't you just do that for your best friend?! Imagine us being idols and... It's Rap Monster's agency!!! We gotta meet him to-"

"STOP! NO MEANS NO! You're being too much now, Jungkook!" she yells and rushes out from the room, leaving Jungkook sad and dejected.

Jungkook watches her go away and sighs. Maybe you took the wrong decision... You messed up!

"You ready, Suju?" Haru asks her while fixing his coat. He stares at her reflection through the mirror and sees her fixing her shoes, "Yes dad.."

How much she has grown up... My daughter..

In the party, everyone was shocked to know Haru already had a daughter. Nonetheless, everyone treated her well. It was Soojin's first time attending a party and she was quite nervous. However, her mind often drifted away to the event that took place earlier. That small fight with Jungkook.

She contemplates the situation and rethinks about it again and again.

She won't lie. She does want to be an idol. It's like her second dream. Songwriting and singing has been her passion and who wouldn't like to have a profession in their passion? But Soojin was diffident in it. She was worried about the various risks that came with it. Even debuting was not a guarantee. She couldn't risk her academics like that.

Then, Jungkook's words ring in her mind.

If not for audition, Just give me a company!! Can't you just do that for your best friend?!

She remembers how desperate and vulnerable he sounded. And true, she never did anything for him, actually. It was always him, whether saving her from the fire incident or from the bullies, he always helped her. While she never did anything that was of a great help for him.

Maybe it's the time to pay him back?

"Suju... "

Soojin breaks out from her thoughts and stares at her father, "Y-yeah dad...?"

"Uh... I think we should return home now...." Haru tells her, a strange tone lingering in his voice.

"Huh? But it has not even been an hour..." Soojin is confused.

"Uh... You know... It's not safe to stay late here... Especially when you're with me... Let's go, hmm?"

Soojin just nods and shrugs off the suspicious feeling. Anyways she's busy thinking of Jungkook.

Soojin reaches home late but nevertheless, decides to pay Jungkook a visit. She saw him facing the window and slouched against the headboard of his bed. My words must be hurtful.... You messed up, Suju!

"Kookie... "

Jungkook turns his head to her side, his doe eyes sparkling. He must've cried. She nibbled on her lower lip while staring at him with guilty eyes.

"Suju... You're back...?" he gets up from his bed, rubbing his eyes while walking up to her. He rubs his neck before speaking, "About earlier... I'm Sorry... I shouldn't have--"

"Don't say that... " Soojin looks at him in his eyes while he stares at her with his doe eyes.

"I'll go... I'll go with you!"
