Kaia's P.O.V:

Six Weeks Later.

The sound of running water and loud music fills my ears. I turn on my side and put a pillow over my head to block out the noise.
My head feels heavy and I feel a massive headache coming on. Why did I let them convince me to go out? I never learn.

We've been going out every Friday night for the past few weeks. It all seems fun and exciting at first, because it's a new club every week but by the end of the night we're either too drunk to get home or we all just lounge at Todd's place till we're all sobered up.

"Get up blondy!  You promised me you'd run with me this morning!" Dani shouts out over the music.

"Did I make that decision while I was drunk? Because I don't remember" I shout back just as loud.

Dani switches off the music and hops on my bed like the little weird bunny that she is.

"I don't care whether you remember or not. You promised, and you're not gonna break that promise, right?" She says with puppy dog eyes. Her pout is so adorable, if I didn't have a heart I wouldn't be so affected by it.

"Alright, fine! I'm getting up" I said.

"Yesssss!" She squeals loudly, hopping off the bed and reaching under hers to put on her runners.

Sometimes I can't stand Dani's energy and positivity but I guess that's why I like her, she challenges me to do things outside my very small comfort zone. In fact, all my friends challenge me in different ways and we've gotten so close now I'm so happy we have each other.

After I'm done freshening up and changing into some running wear, I hear a loud knock on the door. Only two people knock so loud like that, it's either Todd or Elena.

I open the door to see a very hungover Elena drinking out of her water bottle.

"Good...morning" she said, breathless.

"Morning Lena, what's in the bottle?" I ask curiously.

"Lemon...water" she answered, trying to catch her breath.

"Yayyyyyyyy! You made it!" Dani squeals in excitement.

"Unfortunately" Elena mutters.

"Very funny, now let's go girls! We've got some working out to do" Dani says, clapping her hands.

Why didn't this girl just be a personal trainer or something. Why journalism?

We start off by walking for 5 minutes then we started to jog. I could feel my whole body aching instantly. Wow, I feel like a potato.

"Dani...I think..I'm gonna..slow down.." I said breathlessly as I stopped jogging. I can't believe I let myself get this unfit.

"Alright, we'll continue on and be back here in 10 minutes tops" Dani said before taking off, Elena dragging herself behind.

I can't help but giggle at Elena. She's still half drunk and she's attempting to run with an Olympian. Poor girl!

I spot a bench on the right and head towards it. I sit and stretch my legs out, taking up the whole bench. The sun hits directly on me and I silently curse because I forgot to wear sunscreen. Dammit!

I close my eyes and just try to breath. I take deep, slow breaths trying to calm down. My heart is still beating fast so I continue to breath slow.

After a while I stood up and stretched. I could see Dani jogging towards me. Wait, where's Elena? I look way behind Dani and see two figures standing by the footpath, having a conversation.
Looks like Lena was talking to someone.

"Gurl, you gotta come run with me more often" Dani says. Her hands are on her knees and she's trying to catch her breath.

"I know" I replied, my eyes still looking at Elena.

"No seriously blondy, Elena sucks. You know she complained the entire way like oh my gosh my legs hurt and ouch! My head hurts. She even kept dropping her water bottle so she could take a break and pick it up. Like, is she for real?" Dani ranted.

I laughed out loud at Dani. She was so frustrated that Elena wasn't on her level. It was so funny to see her like this.

We walked back slowly towards campus grounds and soon Elena caught up to us.

"Hey guys! Good run right?" Lena says, putting her arms over our shoulders.

"Yep. Great run!" Dani says sarcastically.

"So who did you run into?" I asked Elena.

"Um...a friend" Elena says, awkwardly looking down.

I knew it was Ash. It had to be. She looked like she didn't want to answer because it's him and she doesn't want to bring him up.

"It's okay Elena, you guys are good friends- I would never tell you to choose between me and him. I'm not gonna do that to you" I said to her with a smile.

Even though I was still hurting, I had to keep up this act so they don't get worried. They've done a lot for me already.

"You're such an angel Miss Collins, you freaking are!" Elena says with a smile.

"Yep she is" Dani says, pinching my cheek.

"Alright guys! That's enough!" I said swatting Dani's hand away from my face.

Dani and I spend the rest of the morning lazing around in our room. We both didn't have anything to do, which was a big surprise because we were always swamped with work.

We lay in our beds and stare at the ceiling. Coldplay's song 'Yellow' played sweetly as I drifted away. This was one of my favorite songs of all time.

Dani wasn't a big fan but she kept quiet and listened to it anyway. I could tell she was beginning to like it because she was moving her feet to the beat.

"Hey Kaia, can I ask you something?" Dani says, now facing me.

"Okay" I replied, still closing my eyes.

"Why didn't you tell me about you and Jason?".

I quickly opened my eyes and turned to her once I realized what she had just said.

"Well, I didn't mention it because he didn't mention it. I thought if I said it he would deny it because he was the jock and I was sort of the loser with little to no friends. I just didn't want to feel embarrassed if he denied it. I'm sorry" I said to Dani, meaning every word I said.

"Okay, well he ended up telling me a few weeks ago" she said.

"And you're okay with that?" I ask nervously.

"I'm totally fine with it. Turns out, we never really worked being in a relationship so we decided to just continue being friends" Dani said with a smile.

"Oh... okay" I said with a slight smile.

"Let's grab lunch" Dani says, standing up and walking towards her closet.

"My treat" I said, getting up to get dressed.

It's past 2pm and we're making our way to the Café to grab lunch. On the way there we decide on what we're getting.

"I feel like eating fries" Dani said.

"I want a burger" I groaned.

We walked into the Café and headed straight for the counter. Dani placed our orders,  I happily paid and we sat in a booth by the window.

After 15 minutes our food arrived. The smell was so heavenly that my mouth was starting to water. Dani had fries and a slice of extra cheesy pizza. I had a beef burger and a side of fries as well.

"Dig in" Dani said, picking up her slice of pizza.

"Don't have to tell me twice" I answered.

After half an hour we were done. I was full up and Dani was still sipping on her coke.

"I'm gonna head to the bathroom" Dani says, standing up.

I simply nod and pull out my phone. I scroll through my social media, nothing much going on except Rachel tagging me in last night's outings. I wonder how she always gets more than 2k likes on her uploads.

I look up at the entrance when I hear a fit of laughter. It was a group of guys, four of them to be exact. They came in and sat in a booth by the door. They were dressed mostly in black. One of them I recognized as Brody, Ash's friend. I guess this was his group of friends.

Dani comes back from the bathroom and signals for us to leave. I stand up and head for the exit. I push the door the same time as someone was pulling it open. I jerked in front due to his strong pull and almost stumbled over.

I suddenly feel the strong need to tell this person off.
I look up with a pissed off expression only to be met with a pair of familiar green eyes. The same eyes I cried over for days on end. The same eyes I dream about every night. Those eyes.

My mouth opens but I struggle to find the words. Everything comes back to me. How I felt, how I still feel. It was too overwhelming. I had to get away.

Without a word I let go of the door handle and walk away from him. Dani follows close behind. She doesn't speak, she just keeps walking.

I don't stop walking till we reach our room. I unlock the door with shaky hands and head inside. As soon as Dani shuts the door I fall flat on the floor and burst out in tears.

Dani rushes to my side to comfort me, hugging me tight as I cry into her shirt.

"I...can't..do..this..anymore" I cried.

"It..hurts..so much..Dani".

"What hurts, Kaia?" Dani asks in a concerned tone.

"Everything.." I sobbed.
