Online classes and Corona
This was an idea given to me by bookwormparadise101 when this book was about to reach 1k reads. I was supposed to do it as a 1k special but I kinda forgot about it 😐
My alarm rings at 6:59 AM. I wake up with a slight heart attack from the ring tone that is always way too loud. Of course, I could decrease it but then I wouldn't be able to hear it at all.
6:59? Is that too early for school? Not really. Not for us anyway.
I wake up, get ready and turn on the computer after putting on my school hoodie. Why bother wearing the whole uniform when you have a hoodie?
The day starts with the lecture.
"Turn on your cameras!"
*no response*
Then the poor teacher begins calling out everyone's name one by one until everyone has turned on their camera.
Then we start with the national anthem, then the prayer and then the thought for the day. This all would be arranged the day before by one of my classmates.
Then the classes starts one by one.
Am I here to talk about my daily routine that just seems so monotonous right now? No. No, I'm not.
I'm here to talk about the online classes and how it is helping or not helping the students, parents and the teachers.
I have been stuck with online classes for about 8 months now and I think I know enough to say that the pandemic is taking a toll on everyone.
From the point of view of a student; online class is hectic, to say the least. We got separated from our friends for way too long. They are basically my lifeline ok?
Then there is the workload. Just because we are at home does not mean we're free and just doing nothing! Teachers tend to give us more work thinking this. I won't say all the teachers do this though. Some of my teachers understand the pressure we feel by sitting in these houses that have turned us claustrophobic.
The pressure the teachers get is worse. Yes. Worse. I am blessed with some really nice teachers and I can see how much pressure they are under. They always have to submit something, arrange something, grade something etc. etc. So, if you go around talking bad about your teachers then I feel sorry for your future.
They have no choice ok? If they yell at you or lecture you, then just consider it the only way they can vent or just think that you deserved it. Don't go around trash talking your teachers. It's down right disrespectful.
Hahaha now here comes the pressure of the parents. What pressure? You might ask. You my dear reader is the answer. Yes. Yes, I went there.
Sure, your parents love you, but let's face it. You're a handful. No offense though. I mean, we all love our "me time" right? And now since everyone is at home, nobody gets their "me time".
Another thing that the online classes has managed to do for us is to make everything so so easy. Wake up in the morning, just a half an hour early, turn on the computer and BAM you're in class.
Usually I would have to wake up at 6 in the morning. Yes, 6 in the morning! Wake up, get dressed properly and get on the bus by 6:40 and my classes would start at 7:30.
This is so much easier! But, there is a disadvantage too. The deadlines. Usually we would get till Sunday to do our work but now we can just send it over during the weekend.
Can we all just agree that the covid has bought us both good and bad?
We got to sit at home for a while. We got to reinvent ourself. We got to reinvent our house. We realized how good our life was. We realized all the things we were doing wrong. We realized all the mistakes that we kept making. We realized why we kept making these mistakes. Most importantly, for me and many of the people here, we found wattpad!
Sure my bio says I've been here for 2 years but, I only downloaded it started using it this July! Yes, after the whole Covid thing happened! If Corona hadn't happened then I would never have started writing seriously. I would never have had this intense desire to publish a book. Oh, the times I imagine myself signing my books out for my eager readers......
So let's not be grumpy ok? Let's not compare whose life is worse right now and tell others that yours is worse and that they shouldn't be sad.
We've all lost people this year. Beautiful, amazing people that could light up your whole world! Some of us are lucky that they haven't lost people to Death but trust me when I say that death of loved ones is not the only sadness in this world.
Have you seen your friends die? I have. But they are still among the living and I have become the ghost that is too transparent for them to notice. Sure, I didn't lose them to Death, but they drifted away. That hurts too. I am in no way gaslighting anyone. I'm simply saying that you shouldn't invalidate your own feelings just because someone else has it worse than you. Sadness is not a competition.
So don't tell people not to feel bad or sad. Don't tell people not to feel what they are feeling because they have the right to do so! Make sure that you are there for them when they fall.
We are all stuck at home and we all are feeling the same things. When the dark clouds drift away there is always a sun shining brightly waiting for you. You just have to let yourself see the sun.
Forget the things that has hurt you. Don't hate on the people that hurt you. It makes you just as bad as they are.
There is always a light at the end of the tunnel but you need to find it. You can't expect it to just happen. You need to venture through the darkness and you'll finally see the light and when you do, you'll be proud of yourself for making it so far.
Let's just agree with it ok? Corona is a pain in the a*s, but it also brought us good things. That will show it to come and ruin our world! Ha!
