Virgil stared at himself in the mirror looking himself up and down. He applied a little more eyeshadow and then tilted his head to the side slightly inspecting the job he had done. He let out a loud sigh before flopping down into a light blue swivel chair. 

    “I don’t know Pat… are you sure this is a good idea.” Virgil said as he glanced at his friend who was sitting on his powder blue bed. 

    A soft smile came to Patton’s face as he stood up and walked over to his friend. “Virgil the whole pack thinks it's a good idea.” 

    “But Roman and I haven’t been on a date since… Well since we got Thomas. I just don’t know…” Virgil said wringing his hands together anxiously, his eyes down cast towards the floor.

Patton turned Virgil’s chair around so he was facing him and knelt down to be eye level with him. “That’s exactly why you need to do this. You two need to spend time together just the two of you. You both have been so stressed you need to just go have fun!” 

“Roman and I spend time together.” Virgil stated defensively. 

“To either work, sleep, or argue. You two need this.” Patton stated calmly.

“But Thomas…” 

“Will be fine,” Patton said gently interrupting Virgil. “He is gonna spend the evening playing games with Molly, Lyla and Dane. He’ll have a blast.” 

Virgil nodded rubbing his eyes anxiously, “Yeah, yeah you are right.” he stated with a sigh. 

“Great now that that’s settled let me fix the makeup you just smudged the heck out of.” Patton said with a small giggle. 

Virgil looked at his hands and saw that they were covered in eyeshadow. “Oops.”

“You and Papa going out?”  Thomas said sitting on Roman’s lap in the living room. 

“That’s the plan.” Roman said smiling at his son.

“You and Papa are gonna fight more about me?” Thomas said looking down at his tiny hands. 

Roman’s smile fell immediately. Were they really that bad? “No buddy, we are going out to have fun.” 

“Well if it’s fun then why can’t I come?” Thomas asked curiously.

Roman pondered a way to fraise it so that it would appease his son, “It's grown up fun you would find it totally boring” 

“Did someone say ‘grown up fun’?” Remus said poking his head into the room. “Oh darn the kid is here dang nevermind.” And just as quickly as he appeared he was gone. 

    Thomas turned his head back to his dad in confusion. “I thought you said it was boring, but Uncle Remus seemed excited.” 

    “Just ignore your uncle, that's what I do.” Roman said jokingly. He lifted his son off his lap and set him down when he heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Patton was down first and Roman smiled. “Is he ready to go?” 

    Patton nodded and turned to look at Virgil. Roman melted looking at his mate. He was wearing casual enough clothes, but his hair was freshly died to bring out his purple highlights that matched his purple tennis shoes and Patton had done his makeup to perfection. Virgil was standing there almost looking shy. Roman couldn’t remember the last time he just stop taking in his mates looks.

    “What? Is something wrong?” Virgil said looking himself up and down trying to find what Roman was staring at. 

    “No, I'm just admiring my amazing mate.” Roman said, grabbing Virgil by the waist and pulling him in kissing him. Virgil blushed and pulled away before burying his face in Roman's chest.  

"Roman!" Virgil whined. 

"You know you love me." Roman said with a smug grin. 

Thomas tugged lightly on Virgil's hoodie looking up at his dads "You guys gonna have adult fun? Is that why I can't come?" 

Virgil looked at Roman who shrugged. Virgil knelt down so he could be eye level. "Look Thomas, Dad and I are gonna go out and mostly talk. You are gonna stay here and play with Lyla and Aunt Molly. Doesn't that sound like more fun than talking?" 

Thomas seemed to weigh the options in his head, but before he could finish Lyla popped up in the door. "Thomas! Hurry up! We are gonna build a blanket fort to play in!" Lyla bounced in grabbing Thomas by the hand practically dragging him out. 

"Bye Papa and Daddy! Love you! No fighting please!" Thomas barely got out before he was whisked away. 

Virgil turned to Roman, "Are we really that bad?" He questioned. 

"Apparently."

“So where are we going?” Virgil questioned as Roman drove them somewhere. 

“You’ll see, trust me stormcloud, you’ll know it when you see it.” Roman said with a fond smile. 

Before they got much further Virgil’s eyes lit up in recognition knowing the direction they were heading. “Really! We haven’t been here in forever!” Virgil said, starting to bounce in his seat like a child.

Roman laughed seeing his mate so excited. Virgil had been so stressed he hasn’t let himself relax enough to be like this in a long time. “Yep! This is our place after all.” 

“I am gonna kick your butt!” Virgil said his competitiveness kicked in before they had even arrived at their destination. 

“We’ll see about that love.”

Not long after they arrived at Dave and Busters. Since the time they had come here all those years ago this has been their favorite place for dates. Why? Well….

“Whoo I am the champion! I told you I would win!” Virgil said as he rubbed his victory in Roman’s face. 

“NOOOOOO!!! I have been vanquished how shall I ever live with such a damaging blow to my pride.” Roman said placing the back of his hand on his forehead falling to the ground. 

Virgil laughed gently, kicking him gently in the side. “Get up you dramatic oaf. People are staring.” 

“Of course they are. I have been slain and they are mourning the loss of their prince.” 

“Yeah, yeah whatever you say princey.” Virgil said, smirking and giving his hand to Roman to help him up. “Come on let's go see what we can get with the points we have and then go eat.” 

“Alrighty lead the way my good sir!” Roman says bowing regally. Virgil rolled his eyes and started to walk to the prize area.

“That was really nice Roman.” Virgil said as they were walking out to their car. “It was so nice to just relax and not have to worry about stuff.”

“Well the night is still young my dark raven! We have more to do!” Roman said, opening the car door for his mate. Virgil raised his eyebrow at Roman.

“What are you plotting.” Virgil said climbing into the car.

Roman smirked, “That's for me to know and for you to find out!” He replied before dramatically closing the door.

Not too long later they arrived at an area of the woods. Roman got out of the car followed by Virgil. Virgil let out a small laugh. 

Roman gave him a confused look, “What's so funny?” 

“If we were a normal human couple it might be concerning that my date just took me out to a deserted part of the woods with no explanation and no one knowing our exact location. For us it feels so natural. I just think its funny how much I have changed since you guys found me.” Virgil explained. 

“Well it's a good thing we did otherwise I wouldn’t be able to do this.” Roman said, gently grabbing Virgil’s face and pulling into a kiss. Virgil melted into Roman letting the buzz of their bond lull him into a soothing calm. He loved this man so much. 

“Come.” Roman said, grabbing Virgil’s hand and pulling him gently. A few moments later when he was sure Virgil was following he shifted into his wolf. Looking at Virgil expectantly to do the same. Virgil shifted quickly and then they both took off. Roman led the way as they weaved around trees. Their movements were a well rehearsed dance between the pair. Their strides were strong and fast, yet the movement appeared graceful and sophisticated. 

As the two approached a clearing Roman slowed his pace to a trott and then to walking before stopped just before the clearing. Virgil stopped next to him nuzzling his face into Roman’s stomach. Roman laughed and gently ran his fingers through Virgil’s fur. Virgil practically purred. A low rumble emanating from his chest.

“Love? Can you shift back please?” Roman asked gently. 

Virgil whined and made a face that clearly said he didn’t want to. 

“Please stormcloud. I wanna be human for this.” Roman explained. Virgil huffed before shifting back. 

“Thank you! Okay now close your eyes.” Roman instructed Virgil did as he was told and let Roman lead him the final way to his destination. 

“Okay open!” Roman stated. 

Virgil opened his eyes and gasped. Virgil had known they had been close to a waterfall because of his heightened hearing but he had not expected it to be this beautiful. Crystal clear water spilled from a high up cliff, pooling below in a pound surrounded on all sides by moss covered rocks. Flowers and all different hues surrounded it making the whole place seem as though it was glowing in the sunset lit area. Virgil could feel a smile spread across his face. 

“It’s beautiful…” Virgil said in awe. 

“Not as beautiful as you.” Roman said pulling Virgil in close to him. Virgil once again became putty in his mates arms. Before he hit Roman lightly on the chest. “Hey what was that for?” 

“For not telling me sooner we had a place like this on our territory! Like come on all these years I have been missing out! And you were a fool to not bring me here on a date sooner. I probably would have marked you way sooner if you had.” Virgil said teasing.

“You didn’t even know what marking was back then.” Roman defended himself. 

“Your point?” Virgil said a sly smirk playing on his lips. “Oh well, I can just give you a different kind of mark since I didn’t get to, here, before.” 

Roman blushed only for a moment before a smirk played on his lips too. “Well if you insist.”  And with that the two stopped talking and locked their lips together.
