Chapter 10

I was walking down the quiet, empty road, having just exited the school gates. I wanted to get home as soon as possible. But I was stopped by all of the populars. Including Jamie.
"Hi, Rosie," Dylan smirked.
"What do you want?"
"To beat you up," Kaley grinned devilishly.
"That's enough. You said we would go straight back to yours," Jamie warned them.
"Well, loverboy, we're not," Tom smiled, "guys, get her." All of a sudden they advanced, every one of them except Jamie, and started pushing me about and laughing. I screamed, and started struggling. Sam grabbed me and covered my mouth as the others continued kicking and punching me. No one was around to help. Pain shot through my back as someone slammed me into a wall. I could now hardly breathe. I gasped just as I was kicked in the stomach. Then I felt several punches, scratches and hits happen all over my body.
"STOP IT!" Jamie yelled. It made absolutely no difference. I was beginning to give up. Struggling wasn't working. I felt two strong arms pull me away and bring me to the side. It was Jamie. The populars laughed at his rescue, and started pushing him around instead. I collapsed, wanting to help but my body being to weak from bruises to do anything. I got my breath back as a figure approached. "WHAT'S GOING ON?" A teacher yelled, storming out of the school gates.
"ALL OF YOU, OFFICE. NOW!" The populars separated, looking horrified, and followed the teacher, turning back to glare at us. I looked up at Jamie.
"Are you okay?" He asked, pulling me up with all the strength he had. I shook my head and fell into his arms, sobbing. I forgot about the past and concentrated on the present. Everything hurt. We limped into the school building, me still crying in his arms. When we reached the office, we were bustled into a car. Apparently we were going to the hospital. I leaned into Jamie, and he put his arm around me. I stared out the window for fifteen minutes, before our German teacher who had driven us pulled up in the car park. We were taken to A&E, and only had to wait about an half an hour considering school had only finished recently. Soon, a doctor was leading us down the plain corridor and into a small room. Our teacher sat with us as our cuts were cleaned and we were checked for broken bones.
"Okay Rosie, so nothing is but you have serious bruises and cuts all over. I would suggest going home, and taking it easy for the next few days. Jamie, on the other hand...we think you have fractured your wrist. We will need to take a few tests and X-Rays when your parents arrive." I slowly walked back to the car with the teacher, leaving Jamie behind. The headteacher had already called my parents, so as soon as I walked in mum took me upstairs. I went straight to sleep, still in school uniform. What an eventful day.
----------------------------------------------
I woke up in the middle of a nightmare. Well, more of a flashback of yesterday. I sat up and checked the alarm clock. It was 8:30am. No point going back to sleep. Seeing as it was a Saturday, I went on Wattpad. At 10am I got up, wincing at the pain, and had a surprisingly soothing shower. I carefully changed into dark blue tracksuit bottoms, my favourite Hogwarts jumper and fluffy socks, and threw my hair into a loose ponytail. I looked at the damage to my face in the mirror. I had a nasty cut on my lip, a bruise on my forehead and cheek, and a long cut on my other cheek. I did faintly remember one of the girls scratching me with their sharp, fake nails. It took me about five minutes to get downstairs. The rest of the family were all watching TV in the living room. I joined them, snuggling up with Freddie. At about midday there was a knock at the door. Dad got up and answered it. I heard a familiar male voice.
"How is she?" It asked. Jamie.
"Oh, um, she's getting better. Maybe you should come in and talk to her. You could have saved her life, after all," Dad said. I looked at mum. "Go on, your dad's right. You would probably still be in hospital if he hadn't interfered," she whispered. I slowly got up and limped to the door. The were bruises all up my back from where I was pushed into the wall, so I couldn't walk very well. "Um, shall we go upstairs?" I said, as Jamie stepped inside. He had as much cuts as I did, and of course his arm was in a sling. He nodded and followed me to my room, and then sat down on the bed next to me.
"Thanks for...saving my life," I whispered.
"Well, I didn't exactly-"
"If you didn't pull me out when you did, I would of most likely been beaten to death. You know what they're like."
"Yeah, I don't even know why I became friends with them in the first place. And after what they-I did to you, I just couldn't bare to see you hurt again, it killed me. I never stopped falling for you," he murmured, blushing.
"I never stopped falling for you either." I smiled, and crashed my lips onto his. It wasn't like any other kiss I had shared with Jamie. It was a kiss full of forgiveness and regret. After a few seconds he pulled away.
"Are you sure you're ready to forgive me? After what I did to you?"
"If no one forgave, the world would be a horrible place."
"I guess so," he mumbled, pressing his lips to mine again. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his one good arm around my waist. We kissed, being careful not to hurt each other's cuts. We parted our lips and I cautiously rested my bruised forehead on his.
"So are we back together?" He smiled.
"Yeah. I guess we are." We kissed once more for about two minutes, and I reached up, running my fingers through his soft, floppy hair. When we broke apart I grinned. I was so happy that we were reunited. Life was hard without him.
"I've really missed you," he whispered, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"I've missed you too."
"I'm really sorry for everything. For bitching about you in the first place. For agreeing to the childish dare. For saying all those stupid things when Jack told you the truth. For ever letting you go. I love you, Rosie Banks."
"I love you, Jamie Rogers."
