I'm baaaaack!

Yeah, I didn't die. Sad, I know.

But with all the homework and shit I have to do, I'll probably be gone soon.

Anyhoo, I need your help. I'm have a story idea, but I can't decide one of the character's gender.

So you know how my username is SoftxRacoon and ships are often written like that, ie. PrincexAnxiety. Well, I decided to actually make it a ship. But, I don't know if that ship should be straight or gay

  Here's the plot/description (no stealing!): 

A dystopian universe where name means everything. If you have the wrong name, then you're doomed to be forever hated by everyone. At least, that is what Soft thought until she met Racoon.

As you can tell, Soft is a girl. Imagine her as someone very pastel. Then there is Racoon, whoes gender I don't know yet. Imagine them as  someone a little more emo and kinda a sneaking around at night and stealing person. I kinda want them to be a guy, but I'm not exactly sure. 

So, should they be a boy or girl?

(Sorry if I end up throwing all your votes out the window and choosing it myself, which is unlikely but still)
