Momota gave Amami a somewhat frustrated look. So far they didn't have the most proper plans, but they'd been working their way up to one.

Currently, Amami had been listening to Momota's idea while either completely rejecting or tweaking them as they went along.

"I'll make some sort of distraction while you bail."

"Well that sounds simple."

"Of course it does, but a lot easier said than done." Momota signed then sighed.

Amami nodded. At least they agreed: It was always easier saying what they'd do than actually doing it.

He was having some more doubts. Amami knew that it was useless to worry about it, but he couldn't help it.

After all, this was quite literally a life or death situation. No exaggerations this time.

What would happen if they failed? It could cost them their lives.

Would it be the end? Probably.

What if he didn't make it in time? It could cost someone else their life.

So much could go wrong. What if-

"Whoa there, man. Listen, don't over think it." Momota whispered.

He leaned back in his own chair put his arms behind his head, relaxed as ever.

Momota gave the other a thumbs up and put on that bright and encouraging smile of his, and flashed it at Amami.

It was like he was made for this, uplifting others. No doubt he'd be able to pull this off.

Amami lolled his head back and sighed, his eyes closed.

He smiled and gazed up, not paying attention to anything in particular.

It was really no surprise that Momota had managed to stay so positive and uplifting even in this kind of situation. It was just a part of his personality.

Though regardless of how many times he could do so, it was always just as relieving each time.

'Thanks, Kaito. It seems like you always know what to say.'

He spent a bit more time pondering his friend's actions and attitude. Then, a small paper thrown at his head interrupted his thoughts.

Amami saw Kaito pointing at it and leaned over to pick it up. Once he opened it, he saw his friend's writing.

"Hey dude, what ya thinking about up in that head of yours? Ya got surprisingly calm smile on right now."

When he turned over, he saw Kaito looking slightly confused.

Amami turned back over to him and shook his head.

"It's nothing. Anyways, how're we gonna have this play out?"

Kaito put his hand on his chin and closed his eyes thoughtfully. "Hmm...Ah"

"Well we could wait a bit and you can just dip?"

Amami stared at him with a deadpan expression, then turned down to the desk. "We're dead." He whispered to himself, quietly laughing nervously.

'Man, sometimes being friends with this guy can be so confusing. One minute he's a genius, the next I'm wondering how he made it past the 4th grade.'

Amami was left to be alone with his confusing thoughts. Meanwhile, Momota was already on the move.

He looked both ways before starting to move from his seat, closer to Amami. His goal? Two columns closer than before.

When Amami finally looked up and realized what he was doing, he about lost it. "What are you doing?!  You're gonna get us killed, asshole!" Amami quietly hissed.

"We can't just rely on shitty hand signals to communicate." Momota replied as if it was obvious.

"You're an idiot." Amami reminded.

"How am I  the idiot?!" Momota asked in shock, as he sat down in his new seat.

"Firstly, your little "plan". Do you really think that'd work? That woman over there is built like a tank. One wrong move and crunch, you're out."

Amami emphasized the last part by quickly dragging his hand across his neck.

"Out. Dead."

"Second, what're we gonna do when she realizes we're a lot closer than a few minutes ago?"

'How long has it been since she trapped us here?'

"Oh, didn't think about it like that. hahaha." Momota laughed.

"How did you manage to graduate Kindergarten." His friend sighed. It truly was a mystery how Momota hadn't gotten himself killed as a child. Was it dumb luck, or pure survival skills? We may never know.

"I'll have you know, I was at the top of my class!", Momota huffed.

Amami shook then lowered his head in defeat. "That, I unfortunately believe."

While Momota stared at him with a face of betrayal and tempted Amami to retort with more lighthearted and disappointed blows, their most threatening problem wasn't getting any smaller.

They knew this, maybe it was time to properly handle the situation.

Amami side-eyed the woman a few yards away. "Now, to deal with her."

They both leaned over to stare at her, then turned back to each other and nodded.

Even with just a short glance at her, they could agree what she was. "Super soldier."

Momota sighed and slid down in his seat. "We don't stand a chance."

Amami closed his eyes in frustration and nodded. "We have better chances at meeting God."

"Hey, we just might at this rate." Momota scoffed with a smile that screamed, "I'll be making these kinds of jokes all day".

In turn, Amami glared at him. It wasn't like what he said wasn't true, the chances of them "meeting god" were pretty good right now. Just wasn't the best thing to say in such a situation, where Amami was not  in much of a mood for jokes.. "Let's not jinx it."

"The odds aren't in our favor, dude." Momota reminded. Like they needed any reminding.

"Don't."

"Just tryna be realistic."

"I will quite seriously murder you."

"Death can kiss my ass."

"I'll kick your ass if you don't shut up already."

"Ooh, kinky." Momota snickered; Amami could only imagine what sorts of things he was thinking of in that head of his right now.

Amami pleaded to whatever higher power was out there, "Oh my god, kill me now." then jabbed Momota with a ruler in the random desk he was at.

Momota spinned in his seat and hissed. "Ow! What was-"

Then a unfortunately familiar voice interupted. " definitely will if you two don't get back to your seats. Quietly and quickly."

The two almost jumped, terrified to turn and see if she was looking. In a moment of bravery, (actually it was just shock and idiocy)  they both decided to check.  And sure enough, their captor was staring them both down with eyes of a hawk.

They both thought the same thing. 'Well shit'

"sigh I've almost had enough of you two. I should just kill you." Mukuro muttered the last part, but it was clear enough for them to hear.

'But would that anger Junko?' She thought about it to herself. Just as she was going to continue...

there was a thud outside. Then...

Silence.

The three stayed still, anticipating the next sound or any visible movement. For a few moments, in seemed nothing else would come.

Another thud.

This time, it sounded much heavier. Both times seemed to have been coming from directly in front of the classroom. Mukuro turned over to the door, her attention divided.

'We're likely being targeted. If I had to guess, it'd be by that group.'  She speculated. 'I should probably handle this before they interfere too much.... or at least check it out for a bit.'

She glanced over to her captives. From what she's heard, it seems that Junko is especially interested in the green haired one. 'It'd be good to be especially wary of him too. She's never interested without reason.'

The aforementioned boy could feel her cold eyes on him. (Had she caught on to their plans? Did she know they were going to escape?) 'He's probably clever, like Junko's ward.'

(Just the mention of that child gave her chills. He was a disturbed one for sure, with the mental illness and all. Nothing she couldn't handle, but that didn't mean his episodes weren't strange to see. Even more so when you consider he's in clear need of treatment, condition likely worsening by the day.)

'As for the jock...',  Mukuro's eyes narrowed and looked at the other, more built student. He'd be tougher to handle if he had training. Though it's not like she hasn't taken down brutes just like him. The matter of his intellect was questionable, but unimportant so it wasn't worth wasting more than a thought on.

Thud

That was probably her cue to get things over with. She couldn't afford to waste time like this. After all, if her suspicions were correct, then that damn group could ruin everything  for Junko like the little pests they are.

She straightened her posture even more so than before and said to the boys, "Stay here." She promptly left, but not before giving them both a stern look. It wasn't long before the sound of her steps became a distant sound.

'I guess the source wasn't right outside the classroom then.' Amami thought, as they had heard her going down the hall instead of stopping. Momota had been wondering about it as well

But if it wasn't from there, then where was the sound coming from?

BAM
