Today I faced my biggest fear.

You know how I think I have a crush on Rain Blossom?

Well, I stared at her today as she was digging around her locker, with her beautiful friends. I awkwardly smiled as she waved at me again, but as I turned, I felt a hand on my shoulder.

I turn around, expecting to see Starburst. "Howd- ACH!!" I then tried to cover my outburst as a really unconvincing cough. "H-hi." Suddenly my bright purple ankle boots seemed like the most interesting thing in the world.

"I'm Rain Blossom. And you are...?"

Oh. My. God. She was speaking to me. My heart raced.

She wanted to know my name.... A girl like her. I couldn't believe it. She must have had me confused. There was no freaking way I was cool enough to catch the eye of the Alpha Athlete. "Z-Zapp... Apple Spark..." I stuttered, "so... I'm pro-obably not the girl you were looking for." I mentally kicked myself for the voice crack.

She smiled at me sympathetically. "Well, of course i meant you! you looked lonely. I'm guessing it's your first day? You know, there's a really nice kid named Starburst, she's my neighbor"

Wow. My right boot had a tiny spot of mud on it. Probably from picking apples all day yesterday...."Y-yeah... I know her. She's, like, my friend." I left out the part about her being my only friend. "She has a nice boyfriend, too. Wolf Song...." I thought back on how we'd all met by standing up for each other... well... all except me. "I'm kind of a wimp sometime," I thought aloud.

 "Oh, that's good. She'll take care of all your questions. Just watch out if someone says something about the Great Raspberry Incident. She will freak."Then she realized what I had mumbled"Wait, what was that last part?"

"Huh? Oh, nothing. What was that about a raspberry?" Did I sound too eager to change the subject? SH*T!! SHE'S LOOKING AT ME!! Ok. Just say something. Anything. I smiled a bit and waved.

 "Hi."

 Smooth, Zapp, real smooth.I facepalmed a bit and turned away. My awkwardness was actually starting to hurt!

"Well, it was nice meeting you. I gotta get to class, but maybe hang out sometime? Maybe tomorrow at lunch?"

"S-sure... uh... where do you sit there?" I asked. Maybe I wasn't all that awkward after all.... maybe....

"I can go over by Starburst, I sit there once in a while"

I was actually pretty happy. "Cool. Awesome. C-can't wait." I walked backwards to still see her slim, perfect frame.

 "Perfect." I continued to walk backwards until I knocked over a wet floor sign and fell. I stood quickly and set it back up.

 "Heh, sign." I mumbled just loud enough for her to hear.

She smiled and waved goodbye.

I blushed and walked off. I couldn't wait for lunch.
