A New World

LAST CHAPTER WOO

I know this took like a week and a half to put on Wattpad but it took much longer to actually write. As I already said, this was on a Google Doc until I realized Wattpad existed and put in on here.

Also sorry this chapter took longer to come out, I didn't like it so I rewrote it

Enjoy one last chapter before we move on to Book 2!

When I woke up in a bed in a familiar house, at first I was confused. Where was I? I had never been here before.

Then it hit me.

I was home.

I suddenly recognized my base, with its soaring towers and terraces made of diorite, quartz, and prismarine. Dark oak wood accented the lighter colors in many places.

I remembered the creeper as well - the one that had taken my tenth life. I remembered a hissing noise, and when I turned around, I had seen a flash of green and then suddenly the world went black.

I winced, because it had been awfully similar to the one that had turned Scar and nearly me yellow.

I also remembered Gem, my sister, and FWhip, her twin but polar opposite in personality. While she tended to follow the rules unless she had a good reason not to, he lived to break them. Their freckles and ginger hair stood out clearly as my brain brought up images of them.

Then I frowned. We had been planning to leave X Life. Those who had lost their tenth lives were to be brought back, and then we would move on to a new world; a new life. The coma was normal, it was just our way of saying, ten strikes, you're out.

Had I come back late? If so, had the other Third Lifers come back late as well?

I got up and stretched, wondering if Third Life really was all just a dream. It definitely wasn't reality, but it was definitely more than a creation of my crazy brain.

I stepped out onto my balcony, shivering as my bare feet touched the cold stone. I breathed in the crisp air, scented with flowers and trees that grew only here. Perks of living in a more evolved world.

Gem found me there a few minutes later. "Blue? I was asleep and then I had a dream that you were awake... Blue!"

She tackled me in a hug. "Two months! Two months since everyone else woke up. We didn't know if you ever would! I need to find him! Do you remember me, Blue?"

"Yeah, I do! And FWhip."

She squeezed me so tight I thought my ribs were going to crack.

I pushed her away playfully. "Gem, I had the craziest dream while I was asleep..." then I trailed off, because I knew she would never believe me.

"The one where I visited you and then tried being you back? That wasn't a dream, Blue. That was me using an ancient type of magic to reach you and enter your consciousness. Why didn't you come with me? You would have woken up with everyone else and we would be out of here by now if you had grabbed my hand."

"Who was that guy? The one with the wings?" I already knew the answer. But I wanted to know if she knew anything else.

"That was... that was a Watcher, an entity that has strong mental powers. They're great with memories and mental control. They were trying to give you your memories back, weren't they? Did you accept the deal?"

The look on my face must have told her all she needed to know. "Oh, no... what did they make you do?"

I shrugged and lied, "Nothing terrible. It's.over now. But I think Scott, Jimmy, and Joel may have been involved."

Gem's expression darkened. "Let me get FWhip."

A few seconds later, my communicator lit up with the message, Fwhip. Blue's base. Now. She's awake and needs to talk.

I followed that with a message that said hi fwhip just because I felt like it.

That was followed by FWhip saying, BUT I WASNT THERE!! WHY DID YOU WAKE UP WHILE I WASNT THERE?!! DONT YOU DARE MOVE IM ON MY WAY

Gem and I exchanged glances and laughed.

We waited about ten minutes before the terraformer barreled into my room through the window, crashing into the opposite wall. I could practically see the stars whirling around his head as he got up.

Once he had recovered, he ran over and wrapped me in a tight hug. "You're awake! Guess what? I'm gonna be Admin of the new world!"

"She has important things to tell us," Gem said. "You can nerd out about Admin magic and registry and operator permissions in a minute."

I told them all about my adventures in the dream-that-wasn't-a-dream world of Third Life. Gem was especially interested in the whole "possessed by Watcher" thing. So pretty much, Ren's story. She wondered if he was a real person somewhere, and I told her I thought he was, along with everyone else that had been in that world. Then she fantasized about making a crystal that would allow her to travel between Realms and visit Hermitcraft for a bit. I knew it was possible, but I didn't expect it to happen anytime soon.

"What's been happening on your side?" I asked finally, blinking back tears from the memories.

FWhip's eyes brightened. "I'ma be an Admin."

Gem sighed. "I still think this is a bad idea. But he was who everyone nominated."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"We have three Admins here," Gem said. "Lizzie, Callum, and Scott."

"Yeah, I know that," I said, a little annoyed.

Gem smiled. "Well, there's going to be less of us in this new world. We're only having one Admin. And the people who decided to come nominated FWhip."

"Meeee! I'm going to be an Admin!" FWhip sang.

"This is a bad idea," I muttered, but I was smiling.

An Admin was a person who was nominated by the residents of a world to lead and take care of them. They were given special permissions like teleporting, controlling the weather, and much more. It was also their job to solve conflict between citizens.

FWhip would not be very good at that.

"You realize you'll have to get everyone registered, right?" I asked. "And you'll have to set a Spawn point? And-"

"I'll be fine," FWhip said. "Also, we'll have two members from another Realm - Pearlescent Moon and and Sausage Myth."

How do people even contact us from other Realms?

"How many of us will there be?" I asked.

Gem and FWhip both started counting on their fingers at the same time. "Twelve," they said in unison.

"Counting you," Gem added.

"That is, if Scott, Joel, and Jimmy are awake as well," FWhip said. "If not, then we've got eight. Actually, probably seven, because Lizzie won't leave without Joel."

"They weren't awake?" I asked, fearing the worst.

The twins shook their heads. "But if what you said is true and it isn't a dream, then they are now," Gem answered.

Part of me was a little relieved that I might not have been the only one to experience Third Life. But most of me was horrified. I didn't want to wish that on anyone.

"Let's go check on them," I decided, and went back into my bedroom to grab a warp scroll.

We teleported to Joel's place first, to find him there, about to teleport himself.

"What the - DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT!" Joel yelled, dropping his scroll and jumping.

We laughed. "Welcome back, Joel," Gem said.

"Are we leaving now? Where's Lizzie?" Joel said.

FWhip shrugged. "Wherever she is."

"Did you happen to have a dream with a certain king obsessed with the color red?" I asked casually.

Joel's brown eyes widened. "Goodness, there were so many dogs..."

My siblings and I exchanged glances. "Yeah, me too," I said. "And it did have a lot of dogs. Mainly that you tamed."

"Bdubs and Impulse's puppies," Joel realized. "What happened to them?"

"Bdubs and Impulse, or the puppies?"

"Uh, both."

"I have no idea."

Joel thought for a minute. "Do you think they're real people?"

I hesitated before nodding. "I think they're in a different world. But not one we can access."

Joel looked visibly disappointed.

"We're going to be teleporting to the new world as soon as everyone's ready," FWhip announced. "Pack up. Remember not to bring any tools or armor. Just personal belongings."

"But what if my tools and armor are my personal belongings?"

FWhip looked at him pointedly, which looked pretty ridiculous coming from him. "We can always leave without you."

"FWhip!" Gem laughed.

"But seriously," FWhip said. "Even if you try to bring them, they'll probably disappear. The world we're going to isn't as evolved as this one."

Joel harrumphed and walked away.

"Scott, then?" Gem asked.

"Sure," I said. Then we teleported.

We landed at Scott's base, where he was sitting on the porch of one of his village houses, just staring off into space.

"Scott?" Gem said.

He looked up. For a minute, I was surprised to see that his ears were large and pointed. But of course they were. He was an elf. He had been human in Third Life. That was weird, because I hadn't been. Cleo hadn't been. Tango hadn't been. Ren hadn't been.

Apparently the Watchers thought some things needed to change. Maybe elves had some hidden ability that would give them an advantage over the rest of the group.

"Hi," Scott said.

"It was real," I said.

"What?"

"The dream. It was real. Joel had it. I had it."

Scott blushed and put his head in his hands. "Jimmy had it. Oh, no."

That made me a little bit confused. But I let it fly.

"And we're leaving as soon as everyone's ready," FWhip said cheerfully. "So get going. Meet at Spawn."

Scott looked a little bit surprised, but nodded and stood up. "Good to know. Also, sorry about Cleo. That must have sucked."

"It did," I agreed. "I wanted to strangle her."

Scott cracked a smile. "Maybe someday." Then the cyan-haired elf walked away.

Gem and FWhip gave me sympathetic glances.

"Don't look at me like that," I said. "I'm fine."

I was not fine.

Luckily, they seemed to buy it. We teleported to Jimmy's base.

We found him staring at a pond with eyes as big as Bdubs'. "I swear they talked to me," he said as they approached. "The cod. I swear they told me we were leaving soon and I'd better start packing."

He turned to look at us with a helpless expression. "Am I going crazy?"

You always were, my brain said.

"I'm sure it's fine," Gem said. "You're just imagining things. That tends to happen when... well, I don't really know when."

Somehow, that didn't seem to comfort Jimmy at all.

"When are we leaving?" Jimmy said hesitantly, as if afraid of the answer.

"FWhip grinned. "As soon as everyone is ready. And I'm going to be Admin."

"Better build a cod sanctuary," Jimmy muttered. "Or the salmon Admin's going to kill all of them."

Nobody knew why, but Jimmy had an obsession with cod and a burning hatred for salmon. He killed any of the red fish that he found. There were rumors circling the X Lifers that he had a large underground lake full of salmon that he went to every time he was angry (which was a lot, because many X Lifers enjoyed picking on him) to make himself feel better.

By extension, he also hated FWhip, who tried to save the salmon from Jimmy's sword. It didn't work very often, though. It was just an annoyance to Jimmy. And I knew that FWhip didn't really care much, either. He just wanted to see his fellow X Lifer suffer, which was kind of mean but nobody except sometimes Gem could control him.

"Is that it, then?" Jimmy said. "I'm going crazy, and all the cod are as good as dead, and start packing?"

"Pretty much," FWhip said.

"Sorry about him, he has no filter whatsoever," I said. Then we used the warp scrolls again and teleported to our separate bases to pack our own belongings.

It wasn't long before I was ready. I was excited for a new world. I was excited to meet our two new members, Pearl and Sausage, FWhip had said. It wasn't long before I used one last wayfinder to teleport to Spawn.

There were three other people already there: Joel, his girlfriend Lizzie, and Katherine.

Katherine was a fairy with natural dragonfly wings, but she preferred not to use them until most people had an elytra so that everything could stay fair. Her tuxedo cat ears poked out of her raven hair, and a black tail tipped with white waved lazily behind her. A purple duffel bag was slung over one shoulder.

Lizzie was a normal human as far as everyone knew, or as normal as someone who liked Joel could get. She loved the ocean as much as FWhip liked explosions. Her pink dyed hair flowed down over her shoulders, the brown roots just starting to grow in again. Her blue eyes twinkled with mischief as she stood next to Joel with a blue suitcase at her feet.

"Welcome back," Katherine said happily. "Where are FWhip and Gem?"

"Still packing," I said. "They'll be a few minutes."

"Probably deciding what flowers and explosives to bring," Lizzie snorted.

Flowers and explosives. That summed up my family pretty well.

It was about thirty minutes before everyone got the message from FWhip telling them to pack and arrived at Spawn. Lizzie pulled off her Admin bracelet, a silver band with a single amber gem embedded in it, and gave it to FWhip. FWhip looked at it with wonder before slipping it onto his own wrist.

"Head count!" he announced. "Katherine Eliz?"

"Here," she answered quietly.

FWhip marked something on a clipboard that he seemed to pull from nowhere. "Scott Major?"

The elf raised his hand. "Here."

And so it went.

"Pixl Riffs?"

"Here!"

"Lizzie Shadow?"

"Here."

"Shubble Shroomlight?"

"Present."

"Joel Smallbeans?"

"Most definitely here."

"Jimmy Solidarity?"

"Not here," Joel said.

"Yes I am!" Jimmy protested.

"Absent," FWhip said.

I peered at the clipboard and was relieved to see that FWhip had marked Jimmy present.

"Bluemoon Tay?"

"Here," I said.

"Gemini Tay?"

"Yup."

"And last but definitely not least... FWhip Tay?"

He looked around when nobody answered.

"Absent." FWhip marked himself missing on his clipboard.

Everyone laughed.

Lizzie showed FWhip how to use the Admin wristband to type commands. He connected the wristband to the new world so that it could only be used there (except for the Home TP command that would teleport every member to Spawn), registered each member including Sausage and Pearl so that the commands would affect them, and then looked up at all of us.

"Ready?"

The group nodded and agreed excitedly.

FWhip typed in a simple command, but a strong one: it would teleport every registered member to Spawn of the new world. It was also known as the Home Command. FWhip could use it to teleport everyone, or even a select few, to Spawn in the new world. It could be used anywhere, unlike all the other commands, which only worked in the world.

Then the world dissolved into blackness.

FWhip cheered, "Empires, here we come!"

TA-DA!!!

So in the X Life modpack, there are these things called waystones and warp scrolls that you can use to teleport between bases. Just in case you haven't watched X Life.

(This coming from the person who has only watched 3 episodes of Geminitay 🙃)
