8. A Strange Coincidence
"Did you tell Bria about the man we met last night?"
"Nope," he comments as we pass a woman begging on the street. "I said that it would be best to hear it from you."
"Well, uh, TELL ME?!" Bria whacks the back of my head as we continue down the street to the market. We don't have a lot of money for food, but more than usual thanks to my tips.
"You're not going to believe it," I laugh. "It was Kenny Ackerman. And I got his card."
"Kenny Ackerman," she repeats slowly, each syllable taking a moment to process. "You mean, the Kenny Ackerman? The man that makes me question my sexual orientation? The ex-head of the family?!"
"Yes!" You laugh.
Her eyes light up and she grips my shoulders and rips me into a tight hug. "Oh my god! Tell me you're going to go see him!"
"Not yet," I smile. "I wanted to make sure to tell you first."
"YN, now!! Let's go now!!" James formulates his plot quickly and Bria pulls me over to a bench and sits me down as James rolls to the side. "Show us the card so we can goooo."
I chuckle. "You sure you're not all the way gay?"
He rolls his eyes. "I like to call myself heteroflexible. If they're hot like Kenny mother fucking Ackerman, it doesn't matter what's between their legs."
I take several breaths to calm myself down. I'm not great at reading, but I can recognize addresses.
"It's like two miles away." As I look up, James looks at me with wide crazy fanboy eyes.
"Oh my god," James breathes. "He's so close."
I laugh, "Two miles?! Easy for you to say, Mr. Biceps."
He sticks his tongue out, "Actually, it's very easy for me to say and it's sir Biceps."
"Excuse me?" A small, doll-looking girl stands nervously in front of us. A dark blush decorates her cheeks contrasting her white skin and near-white blonde hair which stops right at her shoulders. My smile falls from my face as I meet the girl's gaze. Yui. "Are you busy?"
James sends me a worried look and sets a hand on top of my knee as he looks between us. He knows. Forcing myself to snap out of it, I will my muscles to force themselves into a smile. "Y- yes, a little. It's such a coincidence to bump into you here."
"Yeah," she says lightly, trembling at the undeniably tense atmosphere. "I was wondering if you wanted to dance at my party!" She tucks her chin in and looks nervously at her toes. Bile nearly rises in my throat. "I tried to ask dance company, but they said that you were just filling in and that also I suck," her voice is hardly able to be heard.
"Well," I try. "My main job isn't dancing so I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I can say yes. But if you are interested in belly dancing, I can recommend a few girls if you would like."
