13: Will I?

"I'll do anything to help the Ackerman family!" Rays of hope appear on his face as I say the words. Kenny gently places his hand on my upper back and I'm hoping he doesn't think I'm too weak for whatever it is he wants me to do. It is a fact, that living in the underground can be tough. And it is tough for me. But I go along with him as he leads me to an even more secluded place. My brain screams that this is strange and I should run, but my head wants me to hear out Levi's family. He leads me to the dark, gloomy room of a parlour, and closes the door. If there were others out there, they would have no clue about what is going on in the darkness of this room. It's a red flag.

"I'll cut it short and clear. Levi needs someone like you. Someone with unwavering loyalty backed up by their own strength. But you're not his type. He won't go for you." Kenny leans against the kind of dirty, gray, cold wall. He places both of his hands on his face and gently rubs it, which expresses how tired he is from all his worrying. He looks at me with no expression, but I stand up suddenly, and move towards him, surprising the deadly man. I stop when I am just a few inches from Kenny, and clench my fists.
"I will do or change anything!! Anything at all!" I raise my voice at him, probably looking a bit desperate. I hope I didn't seem so innocent now to him. Kenny widens his eyes but tries to hide how surprised he is at the moment.

"Oi oi, step back now... I meant what I said. He won't go for you, although I personally don't see why not. So we're going to force him to pay attention to you. And we're going to need that other girl's help. You seemed friendly with her; would it work?" Kenny moderated the conversation with the usual arrogant tone in his voice.

"She doesn't like him at all." I spit with venom. "It's sickening. How would you force him? I've come pretty damn close to practically holding his face to stare at me... but nothing seems to work. I must really not be his type..." A frown tickles my lips but Kenny nods as he thinks.

"Good ol' bait and switch. We get the other girl to get him plastered, then you be there in the morning." He snaps when he's got it.

"And he won't just kick me out and forget about me? Especially since we didn't do anything?" My eyebrows push together in confusion.

"He probably will. But you'll come back a few weeks later."

"And what?" I begin to turn away; this is a waste of time. Pretending to have slept with him isn't going to win him over.

"And you'll say you're pregnant with his child." I stop. That is a very strange request indeed. "Remember you can say no."

I turn back around; I have more questions. "But I won't be... he'll figure that out quickly."

"I can bribe a doctor, but in the meantime, you'll have just that amount of time to woo him. To really get him to love you. Who knows, maybe by the end of it, you'll have a baby." He laughs and winks at me, but now my brain cogs are turning. This could... this could actually work.

After a few minutes, I speak up. "I'm in. Tell me the next step."

AN: Okay, I figured out where I'm going with it... hopefully I won't be stuck for so long again.
