Chapter 7 Wedding - 3

Ruhana eyed her, Manvi sensed something is wrong. She asked "mumma kya hua hai? Papa bhi pareshan lag rahe they sab thik hai na?"

Ruhana plastered a fake smile on her face and said "sab thik hai mannu.."

"par mujhe aapko aur papa ko dekhke lag nahi raha ki sab thik hai" she replied doubtfully

Ruhana glanced at her and smiles "Aisa kuch nahi hai chal dulhe raja ko itna wait nahi karate hai"

"Kyun? Itni der tak hum bhi toh wait kar rahe they na? Pure 3 ghante late aaye hai Deep.. " Manvi complaints.

'Tere papa ne bhi mujhe itna hi intezar karaya tha.. Ab chal" Ruhana held her hand and takes her out of the room.

Ruhana sees Vineet standing there holding one end of the dupatta. She eyed him and he assured her that everything is been arranged.

Manvi comes and stands underneath, Ruhana stands behind her lifting her lehenga and she walks towards the entrance. This moment was so special, the song plays and she takes the grand entry. Deep comes forward and gives her hand, she forwards hers and ascends the stairs of the stage.

Chintu gets the Varmala and hands each to the bride and groom. The garland ceremony takes place and then they sat on the couch for family, friends, and relatives to photograph.

Deep whispers in her ear "I know aise muskurake baithna is tough.."

Manvi smiles and said "yahi toh moment hai jo baad mein yaad aate hai.."

After an hour, they went for dinner and their own personal photoshoot. They posed and then Deep moved towards the mandap for the Pooja.

Manvi was inside the room with her cousins who have been teasing her a lot.  Chintu walked into the room and gave her the juice "ye lo Di.. peelo phir wo mantra wagera chalega aap kuch le nahi paaoge"

She smiles and held the glass. She made him sit beside her and asked "tum papa ke saath they na? kuch hua hai kya?"

Chintu was thoughtful "kya hoga Di? aap kitne sawal karti hun juice peeyo" he replied

Manvi drank the juice and keeps the glass to the side "Acha sun.. wo.."

"pata hai aap chali jaogi toh chachu chachi ka khayal rakhun! kamsekam din mein ek baar unko cheerup karun.. " he replies as he knows her well.

Manvi smiles and ruffles his hair "very smart Chintu!"

"wo toh bachpan se hun.. chalo aap rest karo mujhe kaam hai" he replied

"kya kaam hai tujhe?" she asked

"ohho Di.. aapko pata nahi hai kya dulhan ke bhai ko sabse zyada kaam karna padta hai.. " Chintu replied

"aree.. mera chota" she pulled his cheek and he leaves the room. She will definitely miss him a lot.

Her eyes fell on the file placed on the bed. She said "Dishu.. Wo file pakdana zara"

Disha takes the file and hands it to Manvi. She opens and reads "ye toh wo ghao waali zameen ke papers hai!" she flips the page.

"Mannu..." her mother's voice interrupts.

She keeps the file back and looks at the door "ji mumma"

"Chal.. time ho gaya hai" Ruhana said.

Manvi stands up and moves towards her. With every passing minute, the time of parting away from her parents was coming closer. She had already begun to recall the past memories and moments with her parents.

Finally, she reaches the mandap and sits beside Deep. He looks at her with a smile and she smiles back in return.

She folds her hands and the priest chants the mantras. Marriage, according to Hindu beliefs is made in heaven and once you are married, the bond is supposed to last for seven lifetimes. It is considered to be a turning point in an individual's life as they enter the second important phase of their life - the "Garhasthyaashram"

Every single pre-wedding ritual had a deep philosophical and spiritual significance that's why the wedding is considered to be unique.

She glanced at her father who seems to be worried about something. She had noticed the smile completely vanished from his face. She signaled him and he looked at her with a smile on his face.

She asked in sign language "aap thik ho?"

He nodded yes, Manvi asked again "pakka?"

Vineet again shook his head and asked her to concentrate on the Mantras.

Deep noticed them having a significant conversation. He whispered in her ears "that is too cute! mujhe bhi ye language sikhana"

"no.. ye bas mere aur papa ka secret hai" she denied as she can't share it with him.

The priest says "kanyadaan ke liye kanya ke pita aage aayie"

The moment the priest announces that the moment gets emotional for Manvi. This literally means "Giving away the daughter" to the groom. It's a deep-rooted belief and a very emotional moment for the parents as they give away their most prized possession. It is the greatest gift of all given by the bride's father to the groom and Manvi is his precious girl whom he had raised with love and care.

He takes Manvi's right hand and places it in Deep's right hand. Ruhana pours sacred water on the palm of Vineet, which flows through Manvi's and Deep's hands eventually. The Pandit ji keeps on chanting the mantra throughout the procedure.

Vineet was feeling emotional while Manvi looks at her father with a light smile as it is not easy for a parent to give away their daughter to someone. He prays that Deep keeps his daughter happy.

The ritual ends and then Arohi ties the end of Manvi's dupatta to Deep's scarf. They stand up and take Phere's followed by filling her mang with Sindoor and tying the mangal sutra around her neck.

With every ritual happening, Manvi's emotions began to reflect on her face. The priest asked everyone to give blessings to the bride and groom. Everyone does so and the priest pronounce them husband and wife.

Ruhana closes her eyes for a moment finally the wedding rituals ended. They stand up and heads towards the main area of the hall. Two chairs were placed in the center and they sat down beside each other.

Manvi's cousin performs the "jhootha chupai" ceremony after getting the shagun.

"Jiju aapne toh ek baar mein hi hamari baat maanli.. Kya baat Manvi.. Sahi husband mile hai aapko.." the cousin praised Deep.

Manvi smiles hearing her, "aakhir mumma papa ki pasand hai toh galat kaise ho sakti hai?" she replies eyeing her parents.

RuVi smiled..

Ruhana said 'chalo ab apne jiju ko jhoothe pehna do"

Deep finally gets his shoes "bahut bahut sukhriya.. Saali ji"

Manvi's family members hold the rice and take round around them. Manvi lowers her eyes as tears began to drop down her eyes. Every round they take they pour the rice in her dupatta and give Deep envelope.

Vineet distributes the sweet box to the Groom's family. Ankush comes to him and smiles "Vineet ji.. Sab rasmein ho gayi shaadi ki ab vidaai baaki hai"

Vineet looks at her daughter emotionally, he hands him the bag of money to him. "Vaade ke pakka hai aap.."

Manvi and Deep stand up, Manvi takes the rice and throws them at her parents while walking toward the exit gate. Her eyes were filled with tears, she stops at her place and Vineet comes to her grabbing her hand. She hugs him tightly and cries, Vineet caressed her head and tears brims down his eyes. The intensity of the emotions attached couldn't be described sometimes.

Vineet looks at Deep and says with a trembling voice "khayal rakhna.. Aur agar galti ho jaye toh maaf kar dena"

Deep smiles and assures him he will take care of her. Manvi didn't want to leave, but she was helpless. She looks at her and gives a tight hug to her "mumma.. Kuch din aap subah papa ke saath bike pe baithke jaana.. He will miss me warna"

Ruhana smiles with tears in her eyes. She parts the hug and kisses her forehead.

She walks with them to the exit and sits inside the car. She eyed her parents for the last time, Vineet wipes her tears and kisses her palm. The car slowly moves and Manvi keeps on looking at her parents with teary eyes.

Ruhana and Vineet remain standing with tears and watching their daughter go away from them forever.
