Laughter...

That's all I could hear....

That same stupid laugh...

I ran through the halls of Aramis' mansion, or some sick twisted version of it. Knowing him like I did, Zenin probably made Ara conjure an illusion so that I couldn't tell what was what. The whole time his laughter haunting me. I couldn't loose another one of my friends....not another one. Please....I had to find them.

As I turned the corner that should've lead me to Aramis' room, I saw these giant obsidian doors. And what was on them, made me want to vomit...

It was me and Zenin, kissing. He made my friend summon this? He was going to get it when I saw him. Anger and rage filling me up, I yelled and then punched the door with my bare fists. I had been training with Aramis prior to this, working on my hand to hand combat, but I didn't think I could do what I just did.

The door crumbled to black powder. Did I do that? Was I that strong now? Wait, the dust is moving around now. And I felt, for once in a long time before this war started....I felt safe. I closed my eyes as a cool wind blew around mom blowing my hair into my eyes. When I brushed it away, I looked down and saw three stars, and a black, heart shaped locket on the ground. I picked it up. It was cold...

Well, lockets are meant to be opened, and when I did, I wanted to cry. The photo inside was of all of us, before the war...

I put on the necklace...thanks Aramis. I smiled softly, he made the door crumble for me, and turned it into a necklace. Stygian iron. I stood there, with the dust around me, before I heard a loud cracking sound, and a scream following it.

"YOU WORTHLESS ROYAL SWINE!"

Another crack, another scream....

"I'LL KILL YOU FIRST!!!"

A third crack, but no more screaming.

"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!" I heard Zenin yell. Aramis please, stop fighting him...you'll only get hurt more.

"I SAID F*CK YOU ZENIN!!!" N-No...Aramis, stop!

A final crack, a loud scream, but it was cut off.

I wasn't loosing him too! I took off down the long hallway. And when I stopped, I couldn't believe what I saw.

It looked like an overgrown jungle, but instead of vines, it was those foul chains. They were everywhere, and above a large pit, were the remains of my happy life.

Nosmas, Aramis, Ikumi, and Alexandra were all strung up by their wrists, their heads lowered. Ikumi and Alex seemed to be ok, only a couple bruises and scratches. I wish I could say the same for the boys. Nosmas had cuts, bruises, and several large gashes over his body. And Aramis, he looked the worst out of all of them. He had cuts all over his body, large slashes over his arms and legs. A broken nose, and his wrists were slowly dripping blood. The wrists looked freshly cut.

"Akuma! Please! Run!" He shouted at me. Fear in his dull eyes as his hands glowed, a thin veil surrounding me like a bubble.

"She's here?!" Zenin rushed out from behind a clump of chains. He looked around, but couldn't see me. Aramis, he covered me in the same illusion he used to hide his crown. Then Zenin walked up to Aramis again, growling. "Stop getting in my way!" He slapped Aramis across the cheek.

Then he turned to Alex and Ikumi, and threw spiked chains at them.

"Summon: Self-Infliction!" Aramis screamed, and the chains turned around and wrapped around his waist. So that's what he did, he took the girls hits for them, and he probably tried to help Nosmas too.

"You want pain you f*cking masochist?! Fine then! Take it!" Zenin yelled, more chains gripping Aramis, constricting and pulling at the same time. When the chains fell back, the Prince of Illusia hung there...limp.

Zenin smirked, and the veil that covered me slowly tore. I quickly hid, and prayed that he wouldn't see me while I thought of a plan.

I sat down, hugging my knees to my chest as I felt the darkness shift to cover me. I couldn't take it...I let Aramis do that. I stood by while Zenin broke his spirit. There wasn't anything I could do anymore....they would all die, and I would be helpless.

I started to cry when I heard a thundering sound coming down the hall. Bringing my head up, I could head the clicking of heels. As I stood up, Aiko came out from the hall, bow in hand. No...she was here too? I had to keep her safe. She was untouched, I had to make sure someone got out of this alive.

As I snuck out from my hiding place, I heard Aiko scream a battle cry as she shot my friends down from their bindings. Before they fell into the pit below, Alex caught the other three, managing enough momentum to carry them to a wall before she too, passed out. Aiko started shooting at Zenin, but her arrows never connected. Before I could do anything, nine chains sprung out from behind the devil and pinned Aiko to a wall by her tails. Crimson stained the blonde tails as her bow and quiver were stripped from her by more chains.

"Valiant effort you little vixen...but I'm afraid you'll lose your life along side your stupid, idiotic b*tch of a boyfriend." He smirked as I finally revealed myself.

"Zenin! You stop this right now!" I said, drawing his attention to me.

"Akuma! You're here!" He rushed towards me, hugging me and petting my hair like Nosmas would. And like hell would I let him do that.

But I couldn't fight him head on, he was stronger than me. I had to think of a more cunning way to beat him.

So I did the most opposite thing I could do....

I hugged him back.

"Zenin," I whispered. "I'm sorry I was so blind, you're the one I should be with. Not Nosmas." I started crying, letting out all the pain and sorrow that had built up from the war. "I'll stay with you, forever, just let them go." It hurt to say, but it was true. I'd do anything to make sure that my friends were safe.

"A-Are you feeling ok? You seem, weak." He said, pushing me back to arms length to stare at me.

I pushed back to hug him. "I feel great now that I'm with you." I had to keep my gag reflex in check. And I thought of the final thing to end this once and for all. Stygian iron had another name, shadow bar. And I could manipulate it.

So I grabbed my locket, and formed it into a small, barbed knife. That's why Aramis gave it to me, clever boy. And a clever boy I had to get to medical help before he passed on like the others. So as fast as I could, I pushed Zenin and shoved the knife into his thigh. He yelped as I ran to the others.

I had one last trick up my sleeve, shadow travel. If I could just get all of them together, I could transport them all to a hospital.

But Aiko, she was on the opposite wall, and I couldn't leave her behind. Leaving her would be like crushing Aramis myself. Lucky for me, I had Ikumi there beside me.

"Magic Gift: Flames!" She stretched her arm out, and Aiko's hair and tails were lit of fire, melting the chains pinning her to the wall.

She ran towards us. Using her own magic to propel her forward, aided by the new flame.

As soon as she grabbed my hand, I was out of there.

"Shadow Magic: TRAVEL!" I screamed. The world disappeared around us, just as Zenin grabbed the air where we once were.

By the time we had came back to the light, we were outside of the Priory's hospital wing. Where Aiko ran in and alerted the nurses.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And that's what happened, the battle was over, and we won. Aramis took some time to heal, but was out within a month, thanks to the nurses. Ikumi, Aiko, and Alex were ok within the day...and Nosmas was out within a week. We were all together, and for the next month after, we mourned the loss of our friends. Casualties of the war, they stood up for me, and paid the price. But the next time Zenin came for us, we would be ready.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That all happened five years ago. I was 19 now. So were the others. With the exception of Aiko and Aramis, who were 21. There was another battle, and again, Aramis had the most wounds. But he was fine in the next week, he claims that Aiko was a great 'nurse'. But I have a feeling she did a lot more then medicine to speed him back to health. We finally banished Zenin to another dimension. He could never hurt me, or anyone, ever again.

And that was it,

The battle for my friends was over......right?
