Chapter Twenty: Luna, Aramis.....The Past

Hey guys! I'm sorry to say, but right now I'm doing rehearsals for a musical, so I may have to update slower, but I promise I will try to update as fast as I can for all of you guys who like this story! With some help from friends (DeathTheSoulStar and Digipop) I realized that I've sorta neglected Luna since I put her in, and I feel kind of bad for that. So, here you go!

Aramis P.O.V

I don't know what I was thinking, but I just ran...I had to get out of there, I had to clear my head and make sure I was thinking straight. I couldn't stay there.

So I sprinted down the halls, my cloak materializing around me as my eyes stung with tears. My vision blurred as I sprinted past happy couples, envying their happiness. Of course I couldn't have that, I would never be able to have that.

After another five minutes of blind running, I ended up at a spiral staircase. I didn't care where I ended up, so I ran up the steps at a blinding speed. No more... NO MORE!!

I ended up on the roof of the botany tower. Wind whipping my face, a slight chill settling over me. As I took a deep breath, I could smell lavender and vanilla. It's funny, normally that would calm me down, but it only made me feel worse.

I sat down, wrapping my arms around my waist as I thought about my past...how much of a bad omen I was.

FLASHBACK TIME

"Hey! My names Aramis! Do you want to play?!" The young boy shouted and waved at a group of teens, most of them couples.

"Pfft, get lost shrimp." A larger boy shoved the prince to the ground, causing him to scrape his elbow, and tear up.

"Oh, Darren don't be so mean." A girl with long blue hair went and picked up the child, putting him on her shoulders. She ran around with the boy squealing with laughter. Before things took a turn for the worse.

"Tarra look out!" Several members of the group shouted, causing the girl to stop, right in the path of a cart, who's driver had been pass out drunk.

The teen managed to toss the prince to the side, before taking the cart full on. The driver had woken up then, but just sped off, faster than before.

Darren ran past the prince, rushing to his girlfriend's side.

"Get out of here." He growled, tears coming to his eyes.

"I-If you let me take her to the palace, maybe I could~."

"I SAID GET OUT OF HERE!" He yelled, shards of glass flying at the child, who scampered off.

END FLASHBACK

I could feel the tears streaming down. Tarra was in a coma, and I was at fault. I visited her when I could, brought her childish things, like dandelions and toys like bears and plushies. Darren only showed up once, on their one year anniversary. He didn't know I was there, and he broke up with her. How could you leave someone who couldn't ask you to stay? When I was about 13, five years after the incident. Darren had tried to kill me. Saying I ruined his life. I went out to talk to him, and tried to tell him it wasn't my fault. But...he wouldn't listen.

And he was right

I was the reason why Tarra was in a coma. For the last ten years, she's been in the palace hospital wing, the best doctors in Illusia working to get her conscious again. And it was all my fault.

No it wasn't. I twitched, no one was around me, but I swear I heard someone say that.

It wasn't your fault. But it was, if I had just left...

You did everything you could. I ran like a coward, how is that the best I could do?

I promise, you'll find a way to reunite her with Darren. Heh, sure...that'll be the day.

You don't trust me? A psychotic voice I'm hearing from no where? I must be going crazy.

We'll meet soon, now dry your eyes, someone's coming up the hatch. I quickly ran my sleeves along my eyes, cloaking myself in an illusion.

Just as I did, Luna had come up to the roof, she looked around, before staring right at me. "You can't hide from me Ara...why did you run?" She asked, before crouching in front of me, running her hand through her strawberry blonde hair. "Aramis, you smell like salt...have you been crying?" She stared at me, almost crying herself before I dispelled the illusion.

I nodded softly, before looking away from her. She sat down next to me, and asked me what was wrong. I told her my story, and every terrible thing that followed afterwards.

"That doesn't sound like your fault. It sounds like the driver's fault. If anyone should feel bad, it should be him, not you. And as for Darren...well, he doesn't seem like he was in his right mind when he yelled at you." Luna had told me, putting her arm around my neck.

"You're amazing Aramis, don't let anyone tell you different. No matter what, everyone....every...one...is...spe~" she slowly stopped, silently choking on tears. Damn, I didn't even know she was crying. What kind of friend was I?

Comfort her Aramis. O-ok, I'll try...

"Luna...is there anything you want to get off your chest?" I asked, drawing Luna into my side, and rubbing me thumb across her elbow in a comforting manner.

"Pfft, sure, I'd like to get off what little I have on my chest." She retorted, trying to push away from me.

"You know that's not what I meant. What's wrong Luna?" I started to lean on her, putting more and more of my weight on the poor girl until she stopped trying to move away. "Tell me thine troubles milady." I say in a stereotypical royal like voice.

She laughed for a bit, before sighing and looking down at her feet. "Alright, but you'll be the first person I'll tell since the professors...no laughing ok?" I nodded as she started her tale of misfortune.

Luna P.O.V

"Well, it all started when I was very little, around 10."

FLASHBACK TIME

It was very long ago, the school was open as usual, but, for once, it was broken into my a child. When I was little, just after my tenth birthday, the next morning, my parents were missing. It didn't make sense, they wished me a happy birthday, we ate cake, and then we all went to bed. The next morning, they were just...gone. I was able to live in our house for another two weeks, off of what I could find to eat around the house. I cooked all the meat first, using my magic, and after that, a week of being a vegetarian. But, once I ran out of food, I had to leave.

So, two weeks after being ten, I headed out from my now old house. Nothing but my magic, my wits, and the clothes I could carry in my backpack were with me. After scrounging around for animals and berries to eat, I went back home. Accept, I couldn't find my home. I was lost, and couldn't figure out where I had gone.

So, now worried, I flew through the woods with great speed, before I had found a small shack in the woods. It didn't look like anyone was inside, and I needed a place to stay when it got dark, so I snuck inside.

Later on in the day, I had heard a young voice call out to the house.

"I'm home!" The woman said. "At least, that's what I would say, if I had anyone to return home to."

So, I panicked. I tried to run out of some back door, except there was none. So I did the next best thing.

I curled up in a ball on the bed, and cried. The woman had entered, probably with shock written on her face that a little girl was in her bed, bawling.

Well, though I thought she was going to kick me out, she didn't, instead, she took me in. I lived with her till I was fourteen. And that's when it happened.

Our house was practically under siege by fernwolves. They had surrounded the place. And despite my new mother's witchery and my flames, it seemed like for every one that we took down, two more took their place. My new mother, Lucinda, told me there was one way we could chase them off.

She told me that I needed to get in the house, and create a barrier of fire in a dome around the house. It would've apparently deterred any wolves that tried to come near it.

The thing is, I've never made a fire shield that big before, I wasn't sure if I could even do it. But, I ran inside and tries my hardest. And it worked...sort of.

My flames had surrounded the entirety of the house, but cut of my new mother off from the house itself.  When she turned around, all she saw were my flames, keeping her out.

Then the wolves attacked, without my fire to help her, they tackled Lucinda to the ground. And, then screaming, telling me that she was sorry this was happening, that I needed to head north. And then, the screaming just...stopped. And the wolves went away. And that was it.

When I went outside, I didn't see even bones, no remains whatsoever. It's like she just...disappeared, just like my first mother.

So, I took her advice, and headed north. And after about two days, I made my way to Magika's Astounding Magical Priory. And, I hid, in the botany tower, where all the plants reminded me of Lucinda's garden.

END FLASHBACK

"So, that's my story Aramis, I didn't kill a person, but I was the direct cause of Lucinda's death."

"No Luna, you weren't the cause, you tried your best, and your mother, father and Lucinda would be proud of the young woman you've grown to be. Now come on, we should head back before people wonder why both of us are missing." He smiled at me, and I felt at ease. He really had a calming effect.

So, somehow he lifted me onto his shoulders, and ran down the botany tower steps.

Aramis P.O.V

Good job Aramis, we will definitely meet soon. Have a nice night, your majesty. I shook my head. I simply must get rid of this stupid voice...
