Chapter 19: Skipping Ahead; Part 1

Draco took off his coat as he stepped inside Malfoy Manor. It was now March 2001 and still no second child. He smiled as he saw Isla stumbling up to him in her young toddler way. Her waved, shoulder length, thick blond hair was up in a ponytail tied with a silver ribbon.

"Dad-dy!" She squealed.

He picked her up and kissed her. "How's my little angel?"

He'd missed her, and Hermione. He had been at the compulsory international healers course in Italy for the last two weeks. Every trainee healer had to attend in order to complete their training.

He looked around for Hermione.

"Where's Mummy?" He asked Isla.

"Liiiibareee." She giggled.

Of course she would be in the library.

"Come on then darling." He said, running up the stairs with Isla in his arms.

He made his way to library only to find Hermione asleep in a chair. He was surprised, usually she wouldn't read while Isla was awake, she wouldn't sleep while Isla was awake and she definitely wouldn't leave Isla downstairs on her own, ever!

Draco put Isla down on the rug. "Stay there angel."

He gently shook Hermione awake.

" 'Mione? Hermione?" He asked.

Hermione slowly woke up.

"Draco?" She asked.

He smiled. "It's me."

She shot upwards and through her arms around his neck. "Oh Merlin, I've missed you so much."

Draco pulled her close as possible."I've missed you too." He said feeling a little hurt when she pulled away slightly.

She suddenly went green and ran to the  bathroom. Draco scooped up Isla and ran after her.

"Hermione?" He asked.

She was getting sick into the toilet. He set Isla down in the bath, so she wouldn't be able to run away, and sat down next to his ill wife pulling her hair back as she threw up.

"What happened? Are you ok? Did you eat something?" Questions all came spilling out Draco.

Hermione sat up against the white tiled bathroom wall.

"No, I'm not ill." She reassured him.

Draco was panicking. "Of course your ill, your vomiting and your sleeping in the middle of the-"

"Draco! I'm not ill." She said giving him a look as if to say. Think you idiot!

"Well what are you then!" He asked obliviously.

"I'm pregnant." She exclaimed.

Draco's face fell before a gleaming smile appeared on his face.

"You're pregnant." He stated, giving a small chuckle.

Hermione smiled. "I'm pregnant."

Draco pulled her into a bone crushing hug, to which she immediately pulled back from.

"Careful, the baby." She explained.

Draco smiled.

"Sorry baby." He whispered to her flat stomach. "When did you find out?" He asked.

Hermione looked down.

"The day after you left." She confessed.

"Do you know how far along you are?" He asked curiously.

Hermione nodded. "Only about a month. I'm due the tenth of November."

"Audrey?" Draco asked.

Hermione shook her head. "Katie. She came around last week with Aoife and Fionn."  (Pronounced F-yun.)

Draco kissed his wife passionately.

"How was Italy?"  Hermione asked.

Draco rolled his eyes. "A load of over-excited trainees in one stuffy room in twenty five degree heat. How'd you think it went."

Hermione snaked her arms around Draco's neck. "At least your home now."

Draco kissed her cheek and went to get Isla out of the bathtub. He sat back down next to Hermione with Isla in his lap.

"Yeah with my three favourite girls." He replied, kissing Isla's head.

"Three?" Hermione asked.

"Oh yeah, that baby's a girl." He said pointing to Hermione's belly with a smirk.

Hermione rolled her eyes.

8 Months Later:

It was Halloween night and Draco had brought Isla over to the Weasley's for a Halloween feast and games. Hermione was a little bit over eight and half months pregnant, she was lying down on her bed when she felt a cramping pain shoot across her lower abdomen. She knew this feeling, contractions. She began to panic. She knew that often times contractions would start before waters would break. She stayed still for a few minutes until she felt another painful contraction. She got out of bed and checked her watch, 9:58. She was a lot more prepared this time around, it made her feel a lot more relaxed. She grabbed her bag and her baby's bag. She and Draco had also already chosen a name for a boy and a name for a girl, so either way they wouldn't have to panic about names.

She sent a patronus to Draco and flooed to the hospital. She was excited, nervous, and strangely, relaxed at the same time. Excited to meet the baby, nervous about the labour but overall she was a lot more relaxed than she was having Isla.

She checked herself into the hospital. Katie was going to be the assistant healer, but Draco was more or less going to be delivering the baby. He had graduated from Healer Training last September, a year early.

She sat on the hospital bed, taking deep breaths as contractions came faster and grew more painful. Draco burst through the door, followed by Lavender and Cho.

"Oh Merlin, Hermione darling are you ok?" He asked kissing her lips softly.

"Um, I'm fine. This baby decided to do the opposite of Isla and come early. Where is Isla?" She asked.

"Just relax, she's with Andromeda and Teddy. She's really excited to meet her little sister and-" He started.

"-Draco we don't know if it is a girl." Hermione interrupted, annoyed.

If there was one thing that was both a blessing and curse about Draco, besides his looks, it was the fact that he was so sure of himself.

"Ok." He said raising his hands in defeat. "I'm just saying, I think it's a girl."

Hermione huffed.

It turned out that Draco was right because at 1: 58, exactly four hours since when she had gone into labour on the first of November 2001,
Amelie Kate Malfoy was born.

(Pronounced A-mel-ee.)

Hermione was crying as she held her newborn daughter in her arms, the feelings she had when she had Isla came back, except that this time they were towards Amelie. She was stunning like her sister, she had dark hair, like herself and blue-grey eyes, like Draco.

She smiled at her new baby girl. Draco came up behind her.

"You were brilliant darling." He kissed her cheek before directing his attention to Amelie.

Hermione passed her to him. Draco held Amelie, he felt tears in his eyes.

"Hello, Princess." He whispered to his dark haired daughter, with a huge smile.

He stayed with Hermione and Amelie all night. Although Amelie was born ten days premature she was perfectly healthy. Draco sat in the armchair falling asleep knowing that all three of his girls were healthy.

At 8 o'clock the next day Andromeda burst through the doors with Teddy by her side and Isla in her arms.

Hermione was finished feeding Amelie when they came in.

"Mummy!" Isla exclaimed, running up to her mothers side.

Hermione was able to pull her up onto her lap as Draco was holding Amelie.

"Isla, sweetheart, do you know who this might be?" Hermione asked, taking Amelie into her arms.

Andromeda gasped seeing her second grandniece. "Oh she's beautiful!"

"Sissy?" Isla answered.

Draco picked up Isla.

"You're right that is your sister. That's Amelie, can you say Amelie?" He asked in an amused voice knowing that her answer was going to be cute.

"Ami!" Isla shouted.

Hermione, Draco and Andromeda laughed.

Teddy wasn't at all happy about the way his cousin had said the baby's name.

"No Isla! Her name is Amelie not Ami!" He corrected her, in his stuttering four year old voice.

This just caused the grown ups to laugh more.

"May I hold her?" Asked Andromeda.

"Of course!" Hermione said handing her new little princess over to her aunt-in-law.

"Oh she's a beauty." Andromeda stated.

Isla cuddled up next to her mother.

"Mummy going home?" Isla asked.

"No, angel. You and Daddy are going to go home in a while and Amelie and I will go home in a few days."  Hermione told Isla while pushing the thick, long, blond locks out of her daughters face.

"Ok." Isla said in a sad voice.

"Don't worry angel, we'll eat sweets and play princesses and read while they're gone!" Draco reassured his firstborn.

"I bet Daddy will dress up as a princess for you!" Andromeda told the little blond girl, essentially having Draco put into a situation he'd rather never be in.

"Now hold on a-" Draco started.

"Please Daddy!" Isla said with tears in her eyes.

Draco hated Isla crying, it broke his heart.

"Draco, you now have two daughters. You're going to be dressed up as a princess at some point." Andromeda pointed out.

Draco looked back at his daughter who now had tears falling down her cheeks. His heart basically broke in half.

"Of course angel." He agreed.

Isla stood up on the bed, being steadied by Hermione, as she launched herself into Draco's waiting arms.

"Thank you Daddy." She said.

Draco looked into her little chocolate eyes that were able to melt his heart.

"Anytime angel." He replied.
