2// the school hunt
I didn't know why but something in me told me that I wanted to give boarding school a go.
Maybe it was the fact that my parents hadn't found a house to live in yet and were still staying with my grandparents. Maybe it was because I wanted to try living somewhere else for a while. Maybe because I was curious. I can't peg any one reason down because to be honest, I felt like it was all three.
Plus, I also wanted some independence. What other way to earn it?
It didn't take long to find a school. It was up among the hills, in a cold place. Not so cold that it snowed, but cold enough to want to sleep snuggled up in a blanket and jacket all year round. We had only found the school because my dad's elder sister had been an English teacher there at one point.
Getting in was easy enough. There was an entrance test, an interview of sorts, and it was done. The only problem was that since I was in a different syllabus than the one commonly offered, I had about only three other people in my class.
And they were all boys.
I didn't mind much really. In my old school I just never spoke to boys that much because as soon as you get into the fifth grade they separate the boys and girls into different classes, even if it was a co ed school. Only in high school did the two come together again. Weird rule that I never understood, but seeing as how I was in the seventh grade now, I had gone two years without a boy in class and suddenly I was sitting in a class with only boys.

Two things I learned
- Sitting in a class with all boys, for me, was much more fun than sitting in a class with al girls, because they somehow managed to make every class fun, while also making fun of class.
- Sitting in a class with all boys, is also more irritating than sitting in a class with all girls, and there are too many reasons to list why.

Making friends has always been a little hard because I'm not usually one to ever make the first move. When I get to know someone though, all hell breaks loose, but until then, I'm a pretty reserved person.
Most boys, I noticed, are nowhere near reserved.
There was one boy in my class -- let's name him Matt, for the sake of telling the story -- who was from Singapore. He was probably the only other one in the class who had good English apart from me whereas the other two had a difficult time speaking it. He and I got along pretty well, especially since we had something to talk about, which was football. Or, as it's more commonly known, soccer.
I's always loved soccer, and until I met Matt, I didn't know that the school had a team for the girls. He explained that he found the coach and spoke to him and even found out that there was a girls team, since he knew I was interested in it.
That cheered me up some since I figured it was a good way to make some friends, seeing as how in the dormitory, it wasn't going too well.
I was supposed to be placed downstairs, with the other similar aged kids. However, since it was full, they were sending some girls up to where the little kids stayed, and just my luck, since I've been told many times that I looked like a kid because of my height, I was sent up too.
The weird part was that Matt used to tease me about my height too, and he was shorter than me.
But I'll get to more on Matt later.
Now that I'd settled in school somewhat, the next crisis arrived.
Bullies.
