Chapter Four
I woke up that morning with a blanket on me and my head under a soft satin pillow. I didn't know how I got these items but I was fortunate nonetheless. I opened my eyes slowly but steadily and looked at my surroundings.
It was now that I realized that I wasn't on the futon anymore. I was in a king sized bed, Gai's bed to be specific. It was so comfortable, more comfortable than any bed back at the hideout.
I slowly got myself up and I looked around for my katana. I gave up looking, deciding it wasn't placed in Gai's room, and went into the bathroom. I looked into the mirror and frowned. The braids kabuto did for me were fallen apart and looked very messy. I took out the rubber bands and let my hair fall loosely, it now wavy.
I found a brush in one of the baskets that were in the bathroom and ran it through my hair, straightening it slightly. My hair was to my mid back while wavy. I stared into the mirror, looking at my fake breasts and the smudged eyeliner on my eyes and growled quietly. This was so ridiculous. At least if I was going to pose as a girl, make my breasts big and make me look pretty!
I looked down my shirt and redid the socks in the bra to make them more appealing, and covered myself up once again. I honestly hated covering my stomach, but it was much to manly to show, me having abs and all.
Suddenly a knock on the door broke me from my little trance and I opened the door to see Gai looking as bright as ever.
“How did I end up in your bed?” I asked and he grinned at me.
“You looked uncomfortable so I picked you up and brought you to my bed and I took the couch.” he explained and I couldn't help but to smile.
“That was very sweet of you. Thank you. Where's my katana?” was my next question.
“Where you put it, I didn't touch it.” I smiled pleased by his answer and left the bathroom to retrieve my weapon. It was where I put it last night, on the back of the futon. I plucked it up and fastened it to my back. This was the one thing I wasn't going to part away with to help my disguise.
“Breakfast is on the table!” I heard Gai yell from the bathroom. The sink was on, so I was guessing he was washing his face or something similar to that.
“Okay!” Was my reply, loud enough for Gai to hear.
I walked to the table and saw that Gai put effort into making me pancakes and bacon, food that I was not used to eating. Back at the hideout I was served everyday, three times a day some steamed rice and two pieces of buttered bread. That was it, nothing else.
I sat and ate in silence, savoring each bite that I took, as if it were my last. It tasted so good, I'm definitely talking to the chef at the hideout, telling him to make me some damn pancakes and bacon. I will demand it, and if he refuses, off with his head.
I finished eating and I picked up my plate and walked it to the kitchen sink, where I sat the plate next to the other few dishes that were in the sink already.
“I have to go to the Academy to test my skills.” I let Gai know before slipping out the door.
I could hear Gai sing, “Okay my lovely butterfly!” through the door. I shook my head out of annoyance and walked down the few stairs and walked out on the road.
I got to the Academy in one piece and went to the office secretary with a fake yet flattering smile on my lips.
“What can I help you with, dear?” said the old woman who sat behind the secretary's desk that had the name, “Taipa” on a name card. She was very short, and slightly chubby, with small round glasses resting on the tip of her nose. It was really stereotypical and because of that, really funny.
I cracked a real smile and laced my fingers together.
“Yes, um, I'd like to know where they are holding the exams today?” I asked politely. She got herself up from her plushy chair and leaned over her desk. She pointed at a door that was a little ways down the hall.
“In that room sweetie. Good luck!” Taipa smiled really big then got situated again in her seat.
I turned around and went to the door she pointed at.
I opened the door and went into the room, which were full of kids, probably all around twelve or thirteen. I saw Sasuke sitting by a window.
“Kiba!” I heard someone from another room call and a boy that had a small white puppy in his hood stood out of his chair and went into the room.
Making my way to Sasuke, I made sure to look at each person and remember each face. One was chubby with a bag of some sort of food in his hand, next to him was a guy that looked very lazy by the way his posture was. And next to him was that blonde girl from yesterday. Those three were sitting in the back, at the row of desks behind Sasuke.
I got to Sasukes desk and poked his forehead, getting his attention.
“Were you already tested or not?” I asked and he smirked slightly.
“Don't you see my headband, teme?” was his snotty reply. I scowled but did then notice the headband that was on his desk just laying there.
“Yeah, yeah. Whatever.” I muttered annoyed and he laced his fingers together, elbows resting on the desktop.
“What are you doing here?” he questioned and I smirked.
“I'm here to take this stupid test as well and get put on your team.” I informed. He rolled his eyes and looked outside again, going back to what he was doing before I got here- which was basically nothing. I sat myself on the desk and waited for my name to be called. Too bad they weren't going to call me by my real name, only by my alibi.
It was ten minutes before all of the other students were tested.
“Naomi Take.” I heard and I stood up and walked to the room that they were testing in. There were two men, they appeared to be chuunins. I could instantly tell that one of them was intimidated by me and had a lot of resentment in his heart. Just by the way he sat in his chair.
“My name is Iruka, welcome to Konoha. Please do the clone jutsu, and make two clones.” The more laid back one told me. I gave him an “are you kidding me?” look and put my hands together.
“Clone jutsu.” I mumbled and two other replicas of me poofed out of some smoke.
Iruka scribbled something on a piece of paper and he smiled at me.
“Please take any headband.” I took the first one I laid eyes on. It had blue fabric.
“Could I make a request? This is only my second day here in Konoha, and the only person I know and am close with is Sasuke Uchiha. Could I be put on a team with him?” I gave him a charming smile. He looked down at a paper and then smiled up to me.
“I'm sure that could be worked out.”
I gracefully strode out of their office- or what I'm assuming to be their office, and saw that Sasuke was nowhere to be seen. I let out a displeased breath and walked out of the room that was only halfway filled with children.
I looked at the headband that I still was holding in my hand and furrowed my brows. I really didn't belong to the village, this was all just another way to fool everyone around me. To gain everyone's trust.
I heard Iruka announced to everyone in the class through the closed door that was in between me and the class.
“Tomorrow we pick teams! Make sure to be here!” the class cheered in delight and I smiled slightly to myself. I tied the headband around my neck, letting it hang there loosely. It looked girlish, but for once I was okay with that. I mean, I was supposed to look like a girl.
I waltzed outside and the sun shined on my pale face. There were kids scattered around everywhere. It was such a friendly environment that it gave me the chills almost. I walked passed all of the kids and made my way to Sasuke's place, one of the two places I know where the location is.
I stepped on his porch and knocked on the door.
A minute later Sasuke opened the door with only a towel on.
“What are you doing here, Seether.”
“Move, I want some food.” I moved passed him. “Oh, and don't call me that. I am Naomi.”
