~Chapter 2~

Tadashi regained his posture and lifted (Y/n) up onto his shoulders, managing to carry Hiro in his arms with great balance. Tadashi started the short walk home, his mind filled with thoughts about the promise he made. He couldn't keep it.

The boy eventually reached the café doors, hearing two voices cringe as he stepped in. He slowly lowered his brother and friend to the ground as Aunt Cass came rushing down the stairs. "(Y/n) (L/n) and Hiro Hamada! You have a lot of explaining to do!" At her unusually harsh words, the two kid's eyes began to water. "I had to close the café early because-"She paused, (Y/n) and Hiro held their heads down in shame, small tears escaped their eyes and fell to the wooden floor.

"We're sorry Aunt Cass." Hiro babbled.

"Please don't separate us..." (Y/n) cried. Aunt Cass watched in shock as the two hugged Tadashi. Tadashi could only return a look of sympathy. Aunt Cass just couldn't process what was happening before her own eyes.

Sure, Hiro and (Y/n) had done far worse things before but why had they reacted this way this time? "Kiddos? Why are you crying? I don't like seeing you cry." She said gently, her old calming nature restored.

"You're angry at us..." Hiro mumbled into his brother's shirt. Tadashi rolled his eyes, his shirt would need to go in the wash due to (Y/n)'s earlier outbreak of a runny nose and Hiro's tears.

"You hate us now." (Y/n) whispered. Aunt Cass managed to pick up on those words and gasped, hugging all three of the children in the process.

"No no no! I don't hate you, I love each and every one of you! I was just a little upset because I got worried you were hurt... You can still play with each other! Don't cry sweeties." She said, hugging them all dearly. She looked at Tadashi who was now smiling at her. "Thank you." She mouthed to him.

The four of them separated the hug and walked upstairs into the living quarters of the building. The three children pulled back each a chair, hearing the sound of wood grinding against wood. Aunt Cass hurried over to the kitchen and opened the fridge, pulling out what had to be the best cake anyone could ever imagine.

Just at the sight of it, Hiro and (Y/n)'s mouths began to water. It was a vanilla ice cream cake with what had to be hundreds of gummy bears on top. Tadashi laughed at the two's reactions, guessing something similar would happen.

"Now, you can each have a slice before (Y/n) goes home, tomorrow you guys can bring the rest when you head out to the convention." Aunt Cass offered, cutting out two slices for Hiro and (Y/n). "Want one Dashi dear?" she asked. Tadashi refused, but thanked her anyways.

"Let's see who can eat their piece the quickest!" Hiro challenged.

"You're gonna lose!" (Y/n) grinned, she never said no to a race.

"Be careful not to choke." Tadashi warned. "I don't fancy doing CPR or whacking your back." (Y/n) made a face full of disgust.

"Ew! Isn't CPR when you blow in their mouths?" She asked. Tadashi laughed.

"Yeah, but it could save your life one day." He reasoned.

"I doubt it." (Y/n) grinned as she turned her attention back towards the younger Hamada. "I can't wait to see your face when you lose!" She smirked, earning a glare from Hiro.

"Let's see about that!" he called. They each counted down from three, forks ready in their hands. Once they yelled the word "GO!" they began to scoff down as much of the treat as possible.

"(Y/n)! Hiro! Stop it! I don't fancy going to the hospital because one of you choked on a gummy bear!" Aunt Cass scolded. The two children stopped eating and looked up, giving off a sheepish grin that made Tadashi laugh out loud. Their faces where coated with vanilla ice cream and cookie bits. Aunt Cass joined in laughing, telling them both to go to the bathroom and wash themselves. The best friends obliged and ran off cheekily, not before gulping the remains of their cake of course.

"Those two are perfect for each other." Aunt Cass smiled, shaking her head. Tadashi looked at Hiro and (Y/n).

"What, Hiro and (Y/n)?" Tadashi scoffed, he couldn't see them happening, never.

"Who else?" Aunt Cass asked, laughing.

"I don't think so..." Tadashi said, looking at the mess they had left on the table. Two plates full of melted vanilla ice cream and cookie crumbs all over the table.

"What makes you say that dear?" she asked, eyeing her nephew in confusion. Tadashi sighed, it was a subject he didn't like to talk about ever since he found out.

"The (L/n)'s are moving away Aunt Cass." He couldn't bear to look at her face.

"What makes you say that?" She asked, bewildered Tadashi knew this piece of information.

"I overheard them yesterday while they were waiting for (Y/n) downstairs... Both have lost jobs, they don't own much money and can't afford their rent, they are getting a smaller house." Finally those words were out. After keeping them in for a whole day, someone else knew. This was why Tadashi didn't want to make that promise to (Y/n), they most likely would never see each other again.

"That can't be so... does (Y/n) know?" Aunt Cass's voice was barely a whisper. Tadashi could only shake his head. What would Hiro do once he found out his best friend was leaving? The thoughts were unpleasant, Tadashi could only see the horror in store.

A loud scream soon interrupted the two, their heads jerked towards the source of sound, the bathroom. "What in the world-?" Tadashi was cut off by another shriek.

"Hiro!" (Y/n)'s cry was followed by a loud splash. Both Aunt Cass and Tadashi exchanged looks of fear as water seeped from under the bathroom door.

"What have they done now?" The boy asked, pulling at his tidy hair, the previous conversation was long forgotten. They bolted to the bathroom door and pulled it open with such force that the hinges nearly broke. However, the sight before them was one they had not expected. The floor was shiny and slipper due to it being flooded with water. The bathtub was full to the brim and had overflowed, explaining why the floor became an indoor swimming pool.

And in the middle of the pool was (Y/n), shivering as her wet clothes stuck to her body. Her (H/c) hair stuck to her face as her teeth chattered uncontrollably. A few bubbles formed on the water's surface as Hiro popped up, his clothes sticking to his body and teeth chattering as well. Aunt Cass sighed. She raised a hand for silence and pinched the bridge of her nose. "I don't wanna even know."

Tadashi stared dumbstruck at the two who were grinning sheepishly. "What... happened?" he finally asked.

"Um...we were washing our faces... but we couldn't reach the sink properly..." Hiro began.

"So we used the bath tub but we still couldn't reach... then Hiro here thought that we should plug the drain and wait for the water to rise and let us wash ourselves... but Hiro pushed me in and I dragged him after." (Y/n) finished. Hiro gave (Y/n) a "Seriously?" look.

"Well now you guys have to clean this up." Aunt Cass stated as she went to find a change of clothes for each of them. The two kids turned their heads to face Tadashi, each with the most irresistible puppy dog face on display.

"Help us Tadashi... PLEASE?!" They begged, still bobbing in the water. Tadashi sighed.

"Knuckleheads..." he reached his hand to pull the plug out and gasped at the feeling. The water was icy cold as if they were merely ice cube a few second ago. "This is really cold! No wonder you're chattering! Get out and get dry!" He exclaimed, grabbing two towels and wrapping one around each of them.

"Go to our bedroom, Aunt Cass will find some dry clothes, I'll clean the mess up." Tadashi offered, grabbing a series of towels and a mop. Before the friends left the room, they gave Tadashi a heart-warming hug which left Tadashi slightly wet and cold. Before (Y/n) left, she pecked Tadashi's cheek and giggled.

"Thanks Dashi!" She called. Tadashi smiled and gave a puzzled look.

"I thought you don't like kisses?" He asked. The little girl only shrugged her shoulders. "Would you kiss Hiro?" He only laughed when her reaction was pretending to gag. "Go get changed before you catch a cold." He nodded as she smiled, waddling outside.

"You guys are so silly sometimes." Aunt Cass muttered as she reached the top of the stairs. "Hurry up and get changed Hiro." She said as Hiro ran to the spare bathroom. "As for you sweet pea, I'm afraid you're going to have to borrow some of Hiro's clothes, is that okay with you or would you like to wear one of my shirts? It might be big though so it would be more like a dress." Aunt Cass asked.

Usually (Y/n) would wear her spare undergarments her mother made her bring for emergencies and Aunt Cass's shirts instead of Hiro's clothes, afraid of what she believed were 'Boy Germs'. So it was quite a surprise for her response to change.

"I'll wear some of Hiro's clothes." She stated.

"Are you sure?" Aunt Cass asked "I thought you thought that Hiro had boy germs?" (Y/n) shook her head.

"If you live with Hiro and haven't caught boy germs then I surely won't." she reasoned.

"Well, if you say so." Aunt Cass replied flabbergasted. She rummaged through multiple wooden drawers until she found a suitable shirt and pair of shorts for the girl to wear. "Here you go honey, you can use the spare bathroom in my bedroom." Aunt Cass offered, showing her the way.

Aunt Cass left (Y/n) to change and walked outside, leaning against a wall and frowning in confusion. "Is something wrong Aunt Cass?" a voice called, causing her to jump back in surprise.

"Oh Tadashi! Everything is just fine... I was just thinking about (Y/n)... she is acting differently than as per usual." She note. Tadashi raised an eyebrow.

"No kidding, while I was cleaning the bathroom up, she came to me and kissed my cheek. I asked her why but she just shrugged." Tadashi recounted.

"Interesting..." Aunt Cass replied. What was going on with (Y/n)?

"What did she do?" Tadashi asked as Hiro appeared by his side, handing his aunt his wet towel.

"Well she-"Aunt Cass was cut off when another towel was handed to her. She gently took it from (Y/n)'s hands as she stared at her little body, sporting Hiro's clothes.

"Woah! I thought Hiro had boy germs?" Tadashi asked as Hiro glared.

"Well you guys haven't caught them so I should be safe." (Y/n) reasoned. Tadashi shared a look with Aunt Cass that said something wasn't right. Perhaps she had just grown out of those things? Everyone was caught by surprise when a car honk could be heard from downstairs. Tadashi peered out the window and gasped.

"Your parents are here." He said. "Be sure to come here early tomorrow morning so we can go to the robotics convention." Tadashi reminded her.

"Aye! Aye! Captain!" (Y/n) giggled, pretending to salute the older Hamada. The family of three followed (Y/n) down the steps and outside where a warm breeze met them. A car's front door opened to reveal a woman resembling (Y/n) in some ways. "Mummy!" (Y/n) giggled as her mother stepped out of the vehicle, picking her up and hugging her.

"Hello sweetie! How was your day? Why are you in different clothes?" She asked.

"They had a lot of fun at the park today... sorry about her clothes, they got wet in a little accident, just bring Hiro's clothes back tomorrow at 8:00 am." Aunt Cass beamed.

"Thanks so much Cass, (F/n) and I have been so busy with work, your help really means a lot." She beamed. At once, the thought of Tadashi's comment earlier came flooding through the aunt's mind but she kept to herself knowing that if (Y/n)'s mum wanted her to know, she would say so herself.

"Oh it's no problem (M/n), would you like to take any pastries to go?" (M/n) only laughed.

"No it's okay, we have the muffins still from yesterday!" She reasoned. She carefully strapped (Y/n) in her car seat and closed the door, turning towards the Hamada family. "We owe you one." She smiled.

"Don't be silly, it's always a pleasure to have (Y/n) over." Aunt Cass waved her hand as the two brothers smiled and nodded.

"Well, we better get going, if (Y/n) has to be here by 8 tomorrow she better get to sleep, thank you again." (M/n) waved. (Y/n) pressed the window button as her mother climbed back into the car, her father turning on the engine.

"See you tomorrow (Y/n)!" Tadashi smiled.

"Bye bye (N/n)!" Hiro giggled. And as the car drove off, the family of three could faintly hear (Y/n)'s voice trail off.

"See you tomorrow!" (Y/n) pressed the car window's button once more and watched as the glass creeped upwards. The journey home being not that long as both families lived fairly close to one another.

(Y/n) just squirmed in her car seat, usually she would fall asleep at a late time like this but for some reason she couldn't. Maybe it was the fact that the robotics convention would take place tomorrow, (Y/n) wasn't too sure herself.

As the car pulled up in the drive way, (Y/n) noted one of the old leather couches that had once been inside her home on the side of the street. Curiosity took a hold of the young girl and made her wonder why it would be outside to get ruined. Almost as if he read her mind, (F/n) spoke up. "Don't worry about the couch, we are getting rid of it." He explained.

"But why?" The puzzled child asked. At her words, Bother her parents sighed, it was obvious they were hiding something. "What's wrong?" she asked.

"Uh... it's nothing sweetie, don't worry about it... we don't need the couch that's why." Her mother explained. The car's engine stopped and (Y/n)'s mum got out with her father. The little girl waited for the car door to open and hopped out, running past the discarded furniture item and skipped to the front door.

As soon as the key was inserted into the lock, (Y/n) pushed the door open, ran into the welcoming house and immediately looked for where the couch had once been. To her surprise, it really was gone. Where once the leather chair stood was now a dark patch of dust. "It really is gone..." (Y/n) thought.

The room looked ten times emptier with ought the couch, only the television was there, resting on the table turner it had been placed on. (Y/n) shook her head and headed out of the room, slowly ascending the stairs that lead to a long corridor.

To the left was a door with giant letters spelling "Y/n)'s Room". It was in bright (F/c) letters with a fancy font. To the right was a plain white door which would lead to a bathroom. If you walked a little further down the hallway, you would find (Y/n)'s parent's room where they stayed most of the time. It was either there, the bathroom or study room where they would be found.

In result, they would always be busy with work so they got Aunt Cass to look after (Y/n). That explained how the Hamada brothers and her became great friends.

(Y/n) walked into the bathroom tiredly and turned the bath tap on. She knew how everything worked in the house, with her parents always busy, the girl often ended up learning how to work most house hold appliances on her own. By now, (M/n) and (F/n) would have begun their work again, leaving (Y/n) to get ready for bed herself, she was okay with this though, she knew her parents were working hard so she let them be.

She had a bath and dried off, changing into pyjamas quickly to avoid the cold air of the night. She brushed her teeth and slowly tip toed across the hallway and into her familiar bedroom. (Y/n) yawned and stretched a bit before peeling away her bed covers and climbing into bed. Her warm blankets were placed around her, trapping in the heat as her head hit the pillow. (Y/n) could feel the familiar sensation of sleep wash over her. Her eyes began to feel heavy and droop, slowly closing.

Tomorrow just couldn't come sooner.
