Professor Potter
Harry was the first to wake up. When he sat up, something felt different. He lifted the covers and blushed.
"Draco." Harry said as he was gently nudging Draco awake. "We got to go to breakfast, Draco."
Draco just groaned. "Five more minutes." He said sleepily. Harry took his pillow, and started repeatedly hitting him in the head with it.
"Ok, Ok! Fine! I'll get up." Draco said annoyed at the early wakeup call.
They each got dressed, and headed down to breakfast. Draco and Harry both wore their rings, and they held hands.
When they got to breakfast, Hermione and Ron were already there, but Neville was sitting with Luna today. Hermione had a book in her lap, and Ron was inhaling his food. Harry and Draco sleepily sat down with out saying anything.
"Morning you two. Sleep well?" Hermione asked, not taking her eyes off the book.
"Yeah." Harry said as he yawned. Both Harry and Draco got a glass of juice, and were drinking it.
Ron finally stopped eating his food, and looked up at the two "Fun night?" He said casually. But this statement made Harry and Draco accidentally spit their drink out, but they covered their mouth in time. Ron was laughing really loudly, and Hermione was giggling like an idiot.
"Guess we know our answer." Hermione said while giggling a little. Harry and Draco just ignored their laughing, and continued breakfast.
15 minutes into breakfast, and the morning owls came, delivering presents, letters, and newspapers. Hedgwig dropped a copy of the Daily Prophet. Of course, no matter how many days go by, the Daily Prophet are still talking about how Harry and Draco completely turned the Ministry around for the better. Apparently, the right hand lady became the new Minister. Everyone was muttering, and talking about the gossip that the newspaper was spewing about Harry and Draco's forbidden love. And it looks like someone told Rita Skeeter about the proposal, because it was the second thing to be printed on the front cover.
"Who told Rita about us?" Harry asked. Everyone shrugged.
"Who knows, maybe she snuck onto the campus as a beetle again." Hermione said.
"She's an animagus?" Draco asked. Everyone nodded.
"And an unregistered one at that." Hermione added.
"Well at least they aren't making fun of us." Harry pointed out. "But its annoying. I don't want to be in the Daily Prophet. There's better things to report on rather than my sexuality and who I'm marrying."
"Yeah. Remember when death eaters attacked Paris. No one wrote about it. Death eaters attacking and killing people out in the open, and no one wrote about it." Draco said incredulously.
"Its horrible." Hermione said disgusted. Hagrid then came around to handing Hermione, Ron, and Draco their timetables.
"When are you guys going to have your wedding?" Ron asked. Harry and Draco looked at each other.
"I don't know." Draco looked to Harry. Harry shrugged.
"It would be nice to do it over Christmas Break, but that's only 3 days, and I don't want to take away from the Holiday." Harry said with a thoughtful face.
"I'm sure that mum would be more than happy to set up your wedding. And don't worry about Christmas, it will just add to the fun activities." Ron said happily. "But you should probably tell mum and dad first, that way you don't give them a heart attack when you ask them to help with the wedding." Ron joked.
"Well, do you think a Christmas wedding is ok?" Harry asked Draco.
Draco smiled. "I think that would be wonderful." Draco leaned over, and kissed Harry on the lips.
"After classes, I'll send a letter with Hedgwig to Molly and Arthur. Hopefully they will be ok with setting up a wedding on Christmas." Harry said hopefully.
"Don't worry about it for now. You have a lot of time." Hermione smiled at the two. "That, and classes are about to start." Harry took that as his cue, and he gave Draco a quick kiss on the head, and said goodbye to the group, before walking back to his classroom.
When he got inside, there was one person there, but that was it. So Harry quickly gathered his papers together, and made sure everything was in its correct place. Harry had to teach 6th years on Monday mornings. The entire class had almost arrived, when Harry remembered one thing he forgot.
"Fawkes!" Harry exclaimed. A moment later, Fawkes burst out of nothing, and landed on the perch next to his desk.
"Ok Fawkes. I just wanted you to know that I got you a perch in my room as well. You are free to fly around the classroom, and my room, and you can stay here if you want during my classes. I don't want to make up feel caged up, so do as you wish." Harry told Fawkes. He earned a beautiful trill in response, and Harry turned to his class. He walked to the door, and closed it, before walking back to the front of the 6th year class. Harry clapped his hands together.
"Hello class, I'm Professor Potter, your new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Today, we will be learning about different higher level defensive and offensive spells, jinxes, and hexes. I just have a couple of notes for you to write down, but then we can get to the fun part, and start practicing them with our wands." Harry said cheerfully.
"Ok, just write down in your note books the following spells, what they do, and what they translate to in latin." Harry made the chalk dance around on the board, and he wrote down the notes for the students to copy. Fawkes sat at the perch, and watched the group. A young blonde girl rose her hand.
"If I can have your name please." Harry asked nicely.
"Angel Pond." She answered.
"Yes, Miss Pond. What's your question?"
"How come we need to know the latin meaning?" She asked with a high pitched voice.
"You see, many spells are in latin, and they have a meaning. If you can read a spell in latin, it will most likely tell you what the spell does or can do. For example, if you came across an unfamiliar spell. You wouldn't want to test it out because it could be dangerous, but most likely, the English translation will tell you what it does." Harry answered her. She nodded, and continued writing down the notes. After 10 minutes, everyone completed the notes.
"Now that the boring stuff is out of the way, now let's get to the fun part. I would like the class to split into two groups. One on my left, and another on my right." Harry waited until everyone was split up. Then he moved the desks back with a flick of his wand, and brought the first two students together.
"The right side will be the offensive, and the left will be the defensive. You will each choose one of the spells you wrote about, and try to perform them, while the other tries to deflect it. Once everyone's had a turn, we will switch. I would like everyone to back up a little, and let me place up a shield so no stray spell goes around. You may begin when I say so." Harry said. He waited until the students backed up, to put up the shield. Harry then said go, and watched the two students fight back.
Harry allowed shallow cutting curses, stinging hexes, leg-locks, and cramping spells for offensive. Defensive had to practice shields, stupefy, petrificus totalus, and expelliarmus. The first part went by very quickly, and soon, the class was switching sides. Harry smiled as he saw the students cheer at the mini duels. It was 8 minutes until class was over when everyone finished their turns. Harry spent a couple minutes healing everyone's cuts, cramps, and stings.
"You all did very well. Your homework for tonight is to describe each spell you learned in sentences; the meaning in English, and what it does. I won't give you a certain length of parchment, but I expect it to be well thought out an detailed. It should only take 15 minutes at the most. You may all leave." Harry dismissed. Everyone quickly got their things, and started walking to their next class. Everyone seemed happy, and Harry could definitely hear a couple words of praise from the students, which most certainly boosted his self esteem.
The day went by smoothly, but it was study hall that tested out Harry's ability to be an adult figure. Harry was helping some of his students with their homework, and when Harry left the hall, he could hear arguing around the corner. Since Harry carried his invisibility cloak around with him, he pulled it on, and walked over to the commotion.
When Harry rounded the corner, he saw two students angrily talking about something. Harry got closer to understand better.
"I know you took my note book, so hand it back!" Harry recognized the student as a 3rd year Slytherin, male. He was talking to a female Ravenclaw.
"I'll give you back your note book if you give me back my book." She protested. The boy then pulled his wand out, and so did the girl. Harry quickly emerged from the cloak, and showed himself. They looked at Harry, mortified that he was watching the entire time.
"Put your wands away. You know there is no magic to be performed in the hallways." Harry said sternly.
"Now, who did what first?" The little girl spoke first.
"He took away my book while I was reading." She said.
"But she took my note book while I was studying, first" He said.
Harry shook his head, and held out his hands. The two students put the possessions in his hands. Harry then swapped them, and gave them to the rightful owner.
"5 points from Slytherin, and 7 points away from Ravenclaw. I don't want you taking other people's belongings, and I certainly don't want to see you waving your wands in the halls like that. Next time I see you two fight like this, your getting detention." Harry scolded sternly.
"Now go to your next class, its about to start." Harry ordered. The students ducked their heads, and walked to their next class. Harry walked in the other direction, and went back to his classroom.
He conducted class normally throughout the day, and no one gave him any trouble.
Harry sat up at the teachers table for dinner, and made his way back to his quarters.
He had 6th, 3rd, and 1st years on Mondays. Since Harry didn't have any work to grade, him, Draco, Hermione, and Ron talked in his classroom a bit, before Hermione and Ron departed for the night back to the common rooms. Harry sent a quick note to Molly and Arthur about the wedding, and sent it with Hedgwig. Harry and Draco headed upstairs, took a shower, and curled into bed. They slept peacefully, curled around each other.
The next morning was easier. Harry and Draco got up, got dresses, and headed down to breakfast. This time, they were the ones early. Hermione and Ron weren't there yet. Harry and Draco started piling up their plates, when Hagrid came over.
"Ello, Arry! Long time not see." Hagrid greeted happily. Harry got up, and hugged Hagrid.
"Hello to you, too Hagrid." Harry smiled.
"Ello Mr. Black, or should I say, Mr. Potter." Hagrid joked as he nudged Harry. They all laughed.
"What can I do for you, Hagrid?" Harry asked.
"Well, I was wonderin' if you and Draco here could come to my class today. Since you are the first Phoenix Bonds in centuries, I'd like to educate them. You could bring your class along as well, and it could be a dual lesson." Hagrid asked excitedly.
"I think that would be a great idea." Harry said. He turned to Draco.
"What do you say?" Harry asked Draco.
"Sure." Draco smiled. "I wouldn't mind." Hagrid clapped his hands together and chuckled.
"Great! Can you come for my first class of the day? I'm teachin' the 5th ears' about different bonds between different creatures. Is it ok if I keep the rest secret? Its to test ur instincts." Hagrid asked hopefully.
"Its ok as long as we don't get hurt. And don't make us too aggressive. I don't want to scare my students." Harry said cautiously.
"Ont' werry, Arry!" Hagrid said as he walked off to his hut.
Harry and Draco continued breakfast, and Ron and Hermione joined 5 minutes before breakfast ended. Hermione and Ron were both looked like they just got out of bed. Hermione had only one sock on, her tie was messed up, and her hair was a mess. Ron was just the same. They sat down, and both immediately started inhaling their food.
"Sleep well?" Draco asked. They only nodded their heads.
"Fun night?" Harry teased, which cased Hermione to cough on her eggs.
"I guess we'll take that as a yes." Harry copied Hermione from the previous day. Harry and Draco were giggling, and Ron and Hermione were blushing.
"What are we doing in class today?" Hermione asked. Harry was teaching his 7th year Grifindor and Slytherin students. Draco, Hermione, and Ron were going to be in his class.
"We're doing a dual class with Hagrid." Draco answered. Hermione looked weary.
"What are you going to teach?" She asked suspiciously.
"You'll find out soon enough. But for now, I have a class to start." Harry said as he and Draco stood up, and made their way to the classroom.
Once the whole class of Grifindor and Slytherin 7th years made their way to their seats, Harry announced to the class.
"Today, Professor Hagrid has asked me and Draco to do a couple demonstrations. We will be merging both classes together. So, can you please follow me outside, and we will walk to Hagrid's hut." Harry concluded. He led the class outside, and down the hill.
When they got there, the students merged. Hagrid has Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw that day, so every house was together at the same time.
"Ello class! Today, I wanted to inform you all on a recently registered magical creature. Mr. Potter, can you come to the front." Hagrid said to Draco. Draco blushed at the use of Harry's last name, but complied.
"Arry and Draco have a Phoenix Bond. It was said to be extinct, but here they are! A Phoenix bond means that to people are mated together, and that they were Phoenix's in a past life. Phoenix Bonds are between two witches or two wizerds. Each person has there own mark, and supposibly, none two marks are the same as another pair. But Harry and Draco have the same mark as Merlin, which is a Phoenix. Would you mind showing them ur marks?" Hagrid asked. Harry and Draco nodded. Harry unbuttoned his sleeve, and showed the class his red and orange mark, while Draco had to remove his sweater. Draco showed the class his black and red mark. They both but their clothes back on.
"You see, since they got a Phoenix wing mark, their wings match the colors. Just like Vela's, people who have Phoenix bonds become very aggressive towards others when they show their wings, and the aggression grows. Each pair is able to heal the other, also. Would you mind showing the class ur wings?" Hagrid asked nicely. Both Harry and Draco sprouted their wings, and everyone let out a collective gasp. Harry and Draco turned around.
"We had to go to Madam Malkins to specially design our robes with holes in the back. Otherwise, our wings would tear our clothes off." Harry informed in a slightly lower voice. Hermione watched them carefully.
"Now, Arry, do you mind if I do a little test on the both of you. I'll whisper it to ya so Draco can't hear, and we can get the best reaction out of him." Hagrid asked.
"Wait, what?" Draco asked in his lower voice. "What tests are you doing on him?" Draco asked. The class saw how his mood was starting to change.
"Don't worry. Hagrid won't hurt." Harry comforted. "You can continue." Harry said to Hagrid.
"Good, now I wanted to get your very best reaction, but I won't hurt you. I think I'm just gonna-" Hagrid stopped suddenly, and raised a knife in the air. Of course, the movement startled Harry and Draco, and Draco immediately tackled Hagrid to the ground, and took the knife out of his hand. He growled as he got off of Hagrid. Hagrid coughed a little at the force, and stood up.
"And that's what happens when you startle one of them. Draco seems to be the more aggressive one of the two." Hagrid added. Draco wrapped his arms around Harry protectively, and shot Hagrid a nasty look while growling.
"Don't you growl at him." Harry scolded. Draco stopped, and they dissipated their wings into ashes.
"And just like a Phoenix does when they travel long distances, these two can make their wings disappear in a cloud of ashes." Hagrid concluded.
"For my class, homework will be independent study on Vela's. Tommorow you will have a quiz on Vela and Phoenix bonds. Make sure to know some of the early history since that will be on the quiz as well." Harry told his class.
"And for my class, one foot of paper describing all the events and reactions we got. Describe the behaviors of the two, and write down the history that I told you. Class dismissed." Hagrid said.
"Class dismissed." Harry said. The group of students walked back up the hill.
"Thank you for coming down here. Its not everyday an extinct species is proven alive." Hagrid laughed nervously.
"No problem Hagrid. I'll be heading back to my next class now." Harry said smiling. Draco just gave Hagrid a weak smile.
"Sorry about the whole tackling you, thing. And for growling at you." Draco apologized sheepishly.
"Don't werry about it. I've gotten much werse." Hagrid laughed. Harry and Draco walked up the hill together, and departed. Harry spent the rest of the day teaching, and helping students with homework.
At the end of the day, Harry graded everyone's homework, and went straight to bed with Draco. They slept together comfortably wrapped in their quilts.
