Christmas and Beams
It was currently Christmas Eve, and Harry and Draco flooed to their house, and started getting dressed to go to The Burrow. Draco was wearing a green jumper and tan pants, while Harry was wearing a red jumper and black jeans. Once they were done dressing, they flooed to The Burrow.
"Harry! Draco! Come here!" Molly exclaimed as they stumbled out of the floo. Harry and Draco hugged her.
"Come here." Arthur motioned, and they also hugged him. The same went for Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Fred, and George. Charlie and Bill couldn't make it this year, and Percy wouldn't show up.
"You must be hungry, lemme' get you a bite to eat before dinner is done." Molly fretted as she went to the kitchen to get them sandwiches. Harry and Draco sat on a couch with the rest of the family.
"So what's up?" Fred asked.
"We've been dying to know." George added.
"Nothing much has happened, just teaching and flying around." Harry said. Although Hermione gave him an unapproving glance at his answer.
"That's great to hear." Fred and George said simultaneously. They were finally becoming a bit more calm.
When Molly came back with a plate of sandwiches, they all ate and talked for an hour, catching up on everything.
"Hey Harry. We've been meaning to ask you something." Fred and George started.
"How come you left our store through the back entrance-"
"I mean its ok, but we just wanted to know since that leads into Knockturn Alley." George finished. Harry let a little nervous laugh.
"Its nothing." Harry smiled a little nervously. "It just got too crowded, and I couldn't make my way through the crowd." He answered. Fred and George raised their eyebrow, but dropped the subject, and drank some more tea.
"Dinner is done!" Molly yelled from the kitchen. Everyone made their way to the dinning table. Molly and Arthur sat at the opposite heads of the table, and everyone just filled in the spaces. Everyone started pilling their plates, and dug in.
"This is amazing, Molly." Harry complemented as he ate the roasted duck.
"It really is good, Mrs. Weasley." Hermione added. The rest of the dinner was just silence, and the clatter of utensils and plates. Towards the end of the dinner, a large brown owl flew through the window, and landed right on Harry's plate, in his food.
"Look what you've done!" Ron exclaimed at the owl. The owl dropped a tan letter in Harry's lap, and flew off.
"Whose bird is that? He thinks he can just land in my food." Molly scolded to herself. Harry picked up the letter, and everyone looked at it.
"Who would send you a letter this late at night?" Draco commented. Harry shrugged.
"I don't know, but look-" Harry said as he showed Draco the letter. "Its assigned to both of us, from Percy." Harry said. Everyone looked a bit uncomfortable as they heard his name.
"Hey Harry, I don't think you should read that. You have no idea what Percy could've written in there." Ginny warned. Harry looked to Draco.
"Should we open it?" He asked. Draco shrugged also. Harry proceeded to open the letter, and Draco read along by his side. It read;
Dear Harry and Draco,
Hope you didn't attack my owl, he likes to land in filth. I heard about your wedding. Shame you had to post-pone it till summer. What was it, Draco wanted to see how he faired with Hermione. Anyways, the reason why I'm sending you a letter this late at night, is I wanted to congratulate you.
Why you ask?
Because you and your fuck boy completely destroyed the Ministry, and my position. Just because Mr. Fudge didn't cater to your needs, you felt like you had the authorization to out him in front of all the news reporters. Not just that, but you freed all the magical creatures we have laws on. You half breeds are worthless, and should be treated like garbage. Its only fair.
Everything that has happened so far is all your fault. The Ministry threw me out of my high position, and demoted me to the Magical Creatures department. If only you had half mind, and just let Neville kill you, you would have done everyone a favor.
With Love But Mostly Hatred,
Percy Ignatius Weasley
Draco and Harry finished reading the letter to themselves. The others didn't know what it read, but it must've been bad. Surprisingly, Draco looked like he was going to cry, but Harry on the other hand, looked like he could kill a wizard. Everyone watched as the letter in Harry's hands burst into flames, and burnt to ashes. Harry's hands were still on fire.
"How could he say something like that?" Draco said quietly as he looked at the ashes. Harry stood up, and everyone watched. Harry sprouted his wings, and his arms were on fire.
"I don't know about you, but I feel really good." Harry said in an overly happy, psychotic way.
"I fact, I feel like I could do anything." Harry smiled at everyone.
"Mate, calm down, ok. It was just Percy. He's a git." Ron said to Harry. Draco turned to Harry.
"Its ok, its just some silly letter." Draco said, a little bit sad. Harry only smiled.
"Oh, I'm not sad or anything. In fact, I feel great. But I do hate that annoying owl for stepping in Molly's delicious food. And that letter really stunned my appetite for now. Although, I'm craving something else." Harry smiled, and said cheerfully. Although the tone in his voice said differently.
"If you want, I can cook something else for you. Just sit down, and I'll make it." Molly said, trying to get Harry to stay put. Harry gave Molly a toothy smile.
"No, no, Molly. You don't have to cook anything. I think I can get exactly what I need." Harry said.
"What is it that you want?" Hermione asked timidly. Harry cracked a little laugh.
Harry laughed. "To rip the intestines out of Percy as he watches, then rip his dick off, and shove it down his throat, of course." Harry said happily. Everyone moved a little bit away. Draco stayed by his side.
"Honey, that letter wasn't even that bad. Its just Percy after all." Draco tried to reassure Harry. Harry shook his head.
"Tch, tch. Dragon, sweetie, he made you feel sad, and he made me feel really mad. No one, and I mean no one, talks about you that way. At this point, I don't care what he said about me, because I agree with him. I wish I died when Neville killed me, but I didn't. And we can't change that, now can we." Harry said in a codling voice as he stroked Draco's face. Hermione stepped forward.
"Harry, this isn't you. You would never say any of those things. Now please, put your wings away, and extinguish your fire." Hermione said referring to Harry's flaming hands. Harry threw his head back, and laughed.
"Oh Hermione, my fire is just getting started." Harry said as he flew up really fast, and slammed through the opening of the window, knocking a vase over in the process.
"Bloody hell, he's gonna kill him!" George yelled to everyone. Draco immediately flew after him, while the others ran to the window to watch.
Draco quickly caught up with him, and flew in front of him, with his hands out.
"Harry! You need to calm down!" Draco yelled. Harry smiled.
"And why would I do that." Harry asked.
"Because sweetie, you would never live with yourself if you killed Percy. Or even injured him. Come to me." Draco persuaded motioning for Harry to come to him. Harry's face dropped a little. He started to fly closer to Draco. Draco hugged him, and Harry hugged back. The Weasleys were watching the whole display from their dinner table window.
Up in the sky, the Weasleys watches as Harry let his wings go, and Draco carried him back to the house. Draco flew through the door, and landed safely. His wings dissipated. Draco let Harry stand back on his feet. Harry looked at them all, and rubbed the back of his head nervously.
He let an awkward laugh out. "This might sound weird, but I kinda blacked out. What happened?" Harry asked. Everyone looked at him, and laughed. Harry was confused. Draco patted his back.
"Nothing bad. Just don't let your emotions run around ramped." Draco assured. Harry didn't understand, but he just shrugged his shoulders, and sat back down. Everyone was giggling. Molly collected all their plates, and put them to wash. Everyone made their way back to the living room, and spent the rest of the night talking and drinking tea.
When it was about 10, Harry and Draco said their goodbyes, and flooed back home.
When they got there, Harry and Draco went upstairs to undress. As they were undressing, Draco thought out loud.
"What if we slept upside down? Like bats." Draco said casually. Harry giggled.
"What happened when I blacked out?" Harry asked amused. "Did I miss something that's causing this?"
Draco shook his head. "No, just thinking out loud." Harry laughed.
"What if we actually tried it? Like sleep in the attic." Harry said aloud. There was silence for a moment.
"Kreacher!"Draco called loudly. Kreacher popped into the room.
"Kreacher has heard everything Master's have contemplated. I will go prepare a beam." He said before popping out. Draco looked at Harry. They both shrugged. They started walking up the stairs, and arrived in the attic.
Kreacher worked really fast. There was a beam set up, and it was surrounded by soft padding. They was a large mattress underneath the beam, with silk, green sheets, and silver and black pillows.
Kreacher popped into the room.
"When Kreacher found out Master Draco and Master Harry are Phoenix creatures, Kreacher looked through the Black Library, and informed himself about his Masters powers and behaviors. Kreacher was wondering when Masters would start sleeping in the attic. Mattress is incase you fall. If you wish, I can decorate the attic, and make it more of a room." Kreacher told them. He didn't wait for a reply, and popped out of the room.
"Hermione didn't tell us about this." Draco commented as he stood on the mattress. Harry nodded.
"I never knew Kreacher could even read, let alone want to learn about us." Harry said. They shrugged, and then they grabbed onto the beam, and swung their legs so they were now hanging by their legs.
"Do we let our wings out? Or just sleep like this. Because right now all the blood is rushing to my head." Harry commented.
"I don't know, maybe." Draco responded. Draco released his wings, and curled them around himself. Harry did the same.
"Do you feel better?" Draco asked. Harry only nodded.
"What the heck does sleeping upside down have to do anything with Phoenixes? They sleep perched, not upside down." Draco pointed out. Harry yawned.
"I don't know. We are the first in a couple centuries. I bet no one has really asked any questions since then." Harry said. They both, some how, fell asleep quite quickly, with their wings wrapped around themselves, hanging from a beam.
It was currently the next morning at 8 am. Thankfully, Ron slept in, so he couldn't wake everyone up sooner. Ron bound down the stairs.
"I'm going to go get Harry and Draco!" Ron yelled as he jumped into the floo, and flooed to the Black Manor.
When he got there, the house was very quiet. Ron carefully walked up stairs, and peeked into their room. 'Where are they?' Ron thought to himself. He looked through all the rooms on the second floor. Ron started to ascend the stairs to the attic, when he saw the attic door slightly open. Ron opened the door slowly, and stuck his head into the room. The sight made Ron nearly snort out loud. Harry and Draco were hanging upside down, wings wrapped around themselves, and Kreacher was painting the walls around them. Kreacher turned to Ron, and stuck his middle finger up. Ron nearly gasped, but he held it in, and closed the door.
Ron rushed down the stairs, and back into the floo.
When Ron got back home, he ran upstairs.
"Everyone wake up! You have to see what Harry and Draco are doing!" Ron yelled. He heard a couple groans and complaints.
"Ron! What Harry and Draco do in their free time is none of our business! And don't tell us about you walking in on them!" Fred yelled to Ron through the wall. Ron laughed.
"Fruit cakes you are! I didn't walk in on them! Those two are currently hanging upside down from the beam in the attic, like freaking bats!" Ron yelled. He made sure not to swear when his mother could hear him. Ginny walked out of her room, rubbing her eyes.
"Ron, please stop yelling." She said quietly. She yawned a little, and headed down the stairs. In a couple minutes, everyone was out of bed, and walking downstairs. Molly and Arthur were the last ones down. Ron ran to them.
"Mum, Dad. You got to see this. Harry and Draco are hanging like bats! Its so funny." Ron exclaimed to them. Molly, who didn't hear about it the first time, had a look of excitement on her face.
"Maybe I can get a picture! I've been making a scrapbook of them, and this would be amazing!" Molly exclaimed. She accio'ed her camera.
"Wait, so you're not joking?" George asked Ron. Ron nodded his head, a grin on his face. George leaned on Fred's shoulder.
"How 'bout it, Fred? Wanna see our dear old Harry?" George asked. Fred just a fake contemplating look.
"I don't know. It would be cool to see, though. Let's go." Fred agreed, laughing. Ginny, still tired, just said "I'll see, too." in a very quiet voice. Molly hurried to them with a camera, and Arthur followed.
"Let me go get Hermione. She should already be up." Ron told them. He walked into the green flame. A couple minutes later, he emerged with Hermione.
"Ok, let's go." Hermione said excitedly. Everyone piled into the larger floo at once, and they all flooed to the Black manor.
When they got there, they all quickly dusted themselves off, and Ron lead the group up the stairs. Ron and Hermione were in the front, Arthur and Molly behind them. Fred and George after that, and Ginny in the back. When they got there, Ron put a finger to his lips, and he carefully opened the door. Kreacher wasn't in the room, but the paint still looked wet. Everyone carefully pilled around to see them. Fred, George, Ginny, Ron, Hermione, and Arthur were snickering. Molly was just full out giggling. Molly pointed for everyone to huddle around them from behind. Everyone put their thumbs up, and smiled for the picture. When Molly took the picture, the flash sounded, and woke Harry. Hermione and Ron pushed the family away from them as they stirred.
Harry was the first to wake up completely. Harry blearily opened his eyes, groaning. He went to rub them.
"Aunt Petunia, go shove a frying pan up your- WHAT THE-!" Harry started saying, until he saw the entire Weasley family, and Hermione in front of him. Harry screamed, and fell off the beam with a thud, landing on his back.
Harry groaned, his wings were sprawled out.
"What in bloody hell are you doing!?" Harry exclaimed at them from the floor. Draco started to stir also. When he opened his eyes, he screamed, and fell to the floor. Unfortunately, he landed on Harry's wing, and smacked him in the face with his wing. Harry made a yelp. Draco jumped up, and helped Harry up.
"Merlin, I'm sorry! Did I hurt your wing?" Draco asked. Harry curled his wing, and he rubbed the sore spot. Harry laughed a little, wincing a tiny bit.
"No, no. Just a little bruise is all. Do I have a bruise on my face?" Harry asked. Draco held Harry's face, and examined it. Draco pouted, then gave Harry a kiss on the nose.
"No bruise." Draco said. Harry and Draco separated, and looked around the room. They looked to the family in front of them, confused.
"What are you doing here, again?" Draco asked. Hermione stepped forward.
"Ron came here to get you two, but he found you like that." Hermione laughed. "So he dragged us over, here. Long story short, we have a picture of you sleeping like bats." Hermione summed up, giggling like an idiot. Everyone was laughing, too. Harry and Draco groaned.
After a minute or two of laughing, everyone stopped.
"Get dressed, and come over. We're opening presents." Ron told them, before leading everyone out of the attic, and into the floo. Harry and Draco looked at each other, and laughed.
They went to their room, and got dressed. Harry pulled on a green jumper with black jeans, and black converses. Draco pulled on a grey jumper with blue jeans, and purple converses. They each headed down stairs. They decided to hold onto their wings for the time being. It looked like sleeping with them out, kept them mellow.
"Kreacher!" Harry yelled. Kreacher popped in.
"Thank you for what you did for us. That was the best sleep we've had in awhile." Harry thanked Kreacher. Kreacher tried, what was probably, a smile. His face was contorted up, and he bared his teeth. Although it made him look constipated, that was probably the first time he had ever tried to smile. Kreacher popped out of the room.
Harry and Draco walked into the floo, and flooed to the Burrow.
When Harry and Draco got there, they said their hello's, and congregated to the breakfast table. Seating was normal as usual. Molly prepared bacon, eggs, grits, biscuits, sausages, ham, toast, coffee, and orange juice. Everyone dug in. Ron still kept the manner rule, to everyone's delight. Everyone placed their utensils down, and leaned back.
"This was an amazing meal, Mrs. Weasley." Draco complemented. "I can clean up the dishes for you." Draco said as he stood up. Harry extended his wing to stop Draco from walking to the kitchen.
"Sweetie, no offense, but last time you tried to clean the dishes, I had to put out a fire. Let me." Harry said. He stood up as Draco sat down, and Harry whipped his wand out, and levitated everyone's plates, glasses, and silverware into the kitchen. Everyone went to the living room, and sat down. Harry placed all the dishes on the counter, and started 3 at a time. Harry started making the sponges scrub the plates, but it was taking forever. Harry, almost unconsciously, conjured up a couple more sponges. He levitated all the plates at once, and started scrubbing all the plates. It was amazing at how, even after 7 years of knowing and learning about magic, it still amazed him. Harry smiled as he cleaned everything. When the plates were done, Harry headed back for the serving plates which were a bit heavier, and certainly dirtier. Harry giggled a little as he made the plates glide around the kitchen as they were washing themselves.
The others heard Harry's laughing, and took a little peek around the corner into the kitchen door.
Harry closed his eyes, and subconsciously lowered his wand. It felt so enlightening. He let his magic flow, and he started conjuring more sponges, and he started washing the utensils, glasses, mugs, and serving plates all at once. It felt so fun. Harry's wand was all the way lowered to his sides.
Everyone watched in amazement as Harry was levitating and washing everything, wandlessly.
Harry guided his magic to carry the plates to the cabinet. He giggled a little at the tingling feeling. He opened the cabinet, and placed the plates and glasses away. Then he opened up the drawers, and floated the utensils back to where they go. Harry got rid of all the extra sponges, and he did a little quick clean throughout the whole kitchen. When Harry opened his eyes, he was facing the kitchen entry way, and everyone was watching him. They looked so surprised and confused.
Harry looked down to where his wand was, and it was lowered to his side, and being held loosely.
Harry's eyes widened, and he dropped his wand on the ground and backed up a little, his wing feathers were puffed out a little from shock.
"Oh my Merlin." Harry said quietly as he picked his wand back up, and pocketed it in his back pocket.
"What in bloody hell is going on?" Ron exclaimed.
"That was wicked." Fred said with a smile.
"Totally wicked." George added.
"Wandless magic is supposed to be impossible." Hermione said surprised.
Molly went to hug Harry, but hesitated a little at the sight of his wings. Harry laughed.
"Don't worry. I feel great." Harry smiled as he motioned for her to come to him. She did, and they hugged each other tightly. Harry could see Draco's face, and he could tell that Draco didn't have any negative emotions at their hug. Harry let go, and nervously chuckled.
"How about you go back to the living room, and I'll get everyone some tea." Harry said. He flapped his wings a little to shoo everyone out of the kitchen. The Weasleys were laughing, and Molly was protesting, but they still went back into the living room, and stayed there. Harry laughed to himself, and turned to the task.
Harry focused intently on the cabinet doors, and they opened easily. Harry giggled, and he continued to guide the tea cups, plates, tea bags, tea kettle, spoons, sugar, and biscuits onto the tray. He then floated the tray out of the kitchen, and into the living room. Harry sat down, and laid the tray on the table.
He placed the biscuits and spoons onto their plates, and placed a teabag into each empty tea cup. He floated the cup and plate to each person. Harry leaned forward, and grabbed the kettle of cold water. Harry's hands started to heat up, and soon the kettle was whistling from the steam of the water. Harry carefully levitated the kettle around the room, and poured the steaming water into the cups.
When Harry placed the kettle back on the tray, everyone congratulated him, and they took a sip of the tea.
"Harry, this is amazing! I've never seen, read, or heard anything this advanced before! You're probably the strongest wizard there is!" Hermione said ecstatically. Draco leaned over, and kissed Harry on the cheek.
"Thank you. This is amazing." Draco said nicely, rubbing his wing against Harry's wing. Harry smiled at the affectionate gesture.
"How did you do it?" Ron asked excitedly. Harry shrugged his shoulders.
"I have no idea. I always loved magic, and its so amazing. I ended up closing my eyes, and I lowered my wand without realizing it." Harry explained. Draco looked at Harry for a moment, and an idea sparked in his head. Draco turned to the cup of sugar cubes, and focused intently on it. Nothing happened.
"Harry, this isn't apart of the bond. If it was, I would be able to do it also, but I can't. That means that your wandless ability is completely you." Draco said happily to Harry. Harry grinned. Draco knew that Harry still had low self esteem, and most of the power he possessed was from their bond. Draco wanted Harry to know that his new ability is completely him.
Everyone continued drinking tea, and talking normally. Arthur spoke up first.
"Our family must be very special. We have two family members with the rarest bond there ever was, we witnessed them sleeping upside down, and one of them possesses the power to practice magic wandlessly, and is probably the equivalent to Merlin himself. And we barely bat an eyelash. If that doesn't say anything, then I don't know what will." Arthur said. Everyone burst into laughter. It was true after all. They probably are the most peculiar and special family there ever was, and they treat it the same way others treat a light brunch with the neighbors.
After everyone was done with tea and biscuits, Ron, of course, exclaimed the time for opening presents.
Draco whipped his wand out, and accio'ed everyone's presents accordingly.
They went in order from Molly, Arthur, Fred, George, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Harry, and Draco.
It was the same as any year. Everyone got books, sweaters, scarves, and fudge.
Once all the presents were opened, and put away, everyone headed outside to get ready for Quiditch.
"We call Draco!" Fred yelled as he emerged from the house with George.
"Fine! We get the best seeker in the century!" Ron taunted playfully at them. Everyone laughed at his childish nature.
Harry and George accio'ed their brooms, and Hermione borrowed Charlie's old broom. Harry, Ron, and Hermione headed to one side of the field, while Draco, Fred, and George headed to another. Fred and Hermione were the Chasers, George and Ron were the Keepers, and Harry and Draco were the Seekers. Ginny kept the score from below since there was an odd number of people.
"Begin!" Ginny yelled as she threw the Quaffle into the air. She released the Snitch. They didn't have enough players for Beaters, so they didn't release their Bludgers. Harry and Draco folded their wings against their backs.
So far, Fred and George's team were winning thanks to Hermione being very slow. But all hope was not lost. Harry saw a glimmer in his peripheral vision, and dove for it. Draco followed suit. Harry finally fully spotted the Snitch, and was racing after it. Draco also saw the Snitch, and was right on Harry's tail.
At this point, Harry and Draco were in a full on dive, neck and neck, for the Snitch. They were nearing the ground. Draco immediately let up, but Harry kept going. Just as the wind brushed up against the blades of grass, Harry pulled out of his dive, and caught the Snitch. Everyone cheered, and Harry landed. They all played Quiditch for a couple more hours, before heading inside for lunch.
Everyone ate sandwiches and fruit. The rest of the day was filled with laughter and conversation. They all ate dinner that Molly prepared for them. When everyone was done, Harry and Draco said their goodbyes, and flooed back home.
When they got home, Harry and Draco plopped onto the couch. Harry was leaning back while Draco was lying down on his stomach. They both had their wings stretched out.
"I feel surprisingly calm despite my wings. By now, I'm pretty sure Molly wouldn't even have a body to attach to her head." Draco said tiredly.
"Same. Even for me, I don't think Fred would be able to see for the rest of his life because of how many times he teased you." Harry replied, laughing a little.
They each headed upstairs into their room, only to find that their bed and wardrobe is gone. Among everything else in the room.
"Where we robbed?" Harry said aloud.
"What robbed?" Draco asked, confused. Harry waved his hand in dismiss.
"A muggle term for stealing." Harry said. "Kreacher!" Harry called. Kreacher popped into the room.
"All your things are in your new room." Kreacher said before he popped out. Harry and Draco shrugged, and headed upstairs to the attic.
The whole room looked almost bigger. Kreacher had put up some dry wall, plastered it, and painted it a light grey color. The beam had dark green upholstery. Their original bed was beneath the beam. The bed had green silk sheets, and silver grey silk pillows. Kreacher even cleaned up the old sky light in the room, so the moonlight could shine through. Their wardrobe and dresser were moved in, and the familiar gold and silver box was sitting on the wardrobe. Kreacher even put in a closet for them. Harry and Draco's broom's hung on the wall.
"He did a really good job." Draco complemented as he walked around the room.
"He did." Harry agreed, admiring everything. They each got undressed, and changed into pajamas. Harry and Draco stayed shirtless, but they wore loose drawstring pants. Draco's was white with black prints of different types of weapons in a silhouette style, while Harry's was black with red stars in a circle, with flames surrounding the circle.
They both flew onto the perch, and swung upside down. They wrapped their wings around themselves, and fell into a restful sleep.
