SPECIAL CHAPTER 6: THE ONE THAT CAME UNINVITED
The three of them walked step by step on the cold snow, without saying a word to each other, the deer seemed to be very happy, going from bush to bush, just eating berries or grapes, then she went to another bush, and when she was about to eat it, Xavier called out:
"Dawn, don't be fool to eat those. They're poisonous."
Hearing that, the deer stepped back and walked beside Devan, his eyes darting around looking for other bushes.
"Do you know which dust is poisonous?"
Devan spoke to break the silence.
"Of course I know, if you learn magic like me, but be kind, not like my brother, you will know which trees and bushes are poisonous, which trees and bushes are not. "
"Thank you."
Devan said.
"Thank you for what?"
Mr. Xavier asked.
"About you saving me from that deal."
"It's okay, I was going to give you a stick right there, but since you looked apologetic, so I let it go."
"You gave me a stick right there, too."
Devan replied, looking at Mr. Xavier.
"It's because you cut in on other people's words, in the moment when I was consoling my lost brother, you deserved a stick like that."
The old man laughed. The three of them went to the edge of the forest, Devan nodded to thank him again and was about to leave when he turned around and asked:
"Sir!"
"What's up, boy?"
"Are you...my guardian angel?"
A stick flew, right in front of Devan's head, he held his head and sat down.
"It hurts! You don't have to do that."
"I'm old, so I don't have the strength to fight anymore."
"You still have the strength to hold a stick and hit me."
Devan pointed to the old man's wooden stick.
"That was different."
[...]
Mr. Xavier replied shortly.
"And here, I'm not your guardian angel, I'm your distant relative, or rather your family's, but perhaps because you rarely come around, your family might forget about me. always."
"My distant relative?"
Devan was surprised.
"Didn't you see the family tree?"
Devan hesitated, then pointed to the deer.
"So about this deer..."
Mr. Xavier looked after her and replied:
"Ah, her name is Dawn, that's very clever. You see, my brother Xayden and I are blood brothers, we are your distant relatives, not Key," he said when he saw Devan open his mouth and was about to ask, "I and he are both adept at magic, but unlike me, my brother is addicted to dark things so that's what happened. This little girl is very smart, she has helped me a lot, so I call her my disciple."
The old man winked at the deer, she jumped up and down like a three-year-old child receiving a present. He continued:
"My brother was very passionate about three dark magic or something, many times I advised him to leave, change direction to the path of kindness but didn't listen, just stayed like that, so in the end today it turned out like the boy you see there."
"I can see his skin is pale."
Devan contributed, Mr. Xavier nodded.
"His skin is pale of course, did you notice the necklace he wears? Its symbol is a fire, the longer he worn that, the more that fire sucks the life of the person wearing it, rather than asking you a person in the house. Don't you think it's strange to have pale skin after so long?"
[...]
Devan nodded. They had come out of the Deep forest, he had seen the dear little house. His heart suddenly arose a worry, his stomach rattled. Oh my God! He has been gone for so long, how is Sabrina?
"Honestly," said Mr. Xavier, "I don't understand you, such a lousy poem that you believe so much, so determined to find out. Knowing that, when I was in the forest, I made you unconscious."
Then he patted Devan's head. He laughed and replied:
"Yes, I'm sorry."
"No problem, I'm glad that you're okay."
"DEVAN."
There was a voice calling to him from afar, Collins was rushing over, followed by Syrena, Collins ran up, out of breath, pointing behind him, saying:
"Hurry up! Get inside quickly, someone suddenly came looking... But where have you been all this time?"
"She's very strange."
Syrena interrupted before Devan could answer Collins.
"How's Sabrina?"
Devan asks, only Sabrina is on his mind right now. He also forgot about Collins's question earlier, Sabrina's time was shortening, maybe only in seconds by minutes, Devan's heart began to pound, he seemed to hear a "bang... its intermittent thud.
His mind began to spin, but the ensuing conversation between Collins and Mr. Xavier somehow held the young man back.
[...]
"Still unconscious. She...she went up to Sabrina's room, I can't help it."
"Get in there son, your time has come."
Mr. Xavier pushed Devan forward, laughing. Collins and Syrena were surprised.
"Who is this?"
"Mr Xavier, that's our distant relative."
"Xavier," Collins mumbled, "I think you've seen this name on the family tree."
"Finally someone who remembers."
Cried Mr. Xavier. Collins also shouted.
"That's right! Xavier, you and Mr. Xayden are my distant relatives, oh where's Mr. Xayden? Since you don't have the last name Key, we forgot about it."
"Give you a stick."
Mr. Xavier raised his stick to give Collins a hit but Collins was lucky to dodge, the stick hit Dawn's back, it cried out and gave Mr. Xavier a sharp glance.
"Unlucky? This guy missed it."
"Where's Mr. Xayden?"
Collins asked.
"Lying at home and repenting for what he has done, aren't you guys busy with something?"
He glanced over at Devan, who had been caught up in the conversation between Collins and Mr. Xavier, panicked, and ran inside the house.
"SABRINA."
"Jesus."
Mr. Xavier said wearily, watching Devan's back run away. Syrena immediately ran after him, Collins said goodbye to Mr. Xavier and then followed the other two into the house.
Left alone in the snow with Dawn, he looked at the deer and said:
"I hope she's okay. And Devan too, although I often gives him a stick in the head and hand, I can see that he is a very good guy, dedicated and ready to sacrifice for his lover. Well, well, that young girl is so lucky."
Then he waved his hand, dozens of tiny snowflakes fell, and then he tapped the tip of his stick on the snow, an invisible circle appeared, covering the little house. He looked at his work, satisfied.
"Okay, let's go Dawn, let's go see how my brother is, hopefully he can repent of something. As his younger brother I do not want to use this stick and give him a few bucks."
Then the two figures quietly turned their backs and walked away, into the Deep forest.
