SPECIAL CHAPTER 4: A FRAGILE LIFE

Devan was sitting on the bed, he hugged Sabrina who was still unconscious and didn't let go, even from a distance, he could still feel his warm and gentle embrace. Tiffany moved closer, Devan still unknowing, he collapsed on Sabrina's jet-black hair, he shivered, Tiffany now heard every word in Devan's sobs.

"Sabrina...Sabrina...Sabrina."

He cried out like that, tears welling up in his eyes. Tiffany was amazed, for the first time in more than eighty years of her life she witnessed Devan Key - a strong person, very good at holding back tears, she rarely or could say never see he cried in pain and despair like this.

"Please! Don't leave me! Please Sabrina! I cannot live without you. No! I can't. Please Sabrina! Don't leave me alone in this world."

Looking at him filled with pain and helplessness, Tiffany approached, calling his name. He looked up startled, his face was still stained with tears, he took a deep breath and exhaled, he said:

"Hi Mrs. Tiffany, very sorry for you to see me in this kind of situation."

Tiffany was silent and then placed the tray of food on a nearby table, and she walked over to him and Sabrina.

"She still hasn't shown any signs of life?"

The moment that question was uttered, she panicked and wanted to pull back but it was too late, Devan was already in pain, now in much more pain, he hugged Sabrina and turned his eyes to the window.

That seemed to be the answer for the old woman, she sighed, changing the subject.

"Devan," she said, "I've made buns for you, and hot milk, too, eat up."

"Thank you but, Devan hesitated, "it's bothering you, I won't eat. I'm not hungry."

Then he stared desperately out the window again, the snow was falling heavily, the tiny and thin snowflakes fell, landing gently on the windowsill.

[...]

Determined to save Sabrina, Devan thanks to the ancient book he found in the warehouse, that book was hidden very well, when found, the dust was already covered, a thick layer of dust, on that day the other three went out for some business.

When they were not at home, he went down to the barn and searched all day, but fortunately, God did not disappoint people, he pulled out a brown book with zigzag characters.

He wiped the dust clean, opened it by hand, but it didn't work, looking back, there is a small lock, there is a lock, so where is the key? It took a long time to rummage around and he finally found the little silver key that sparkled under the drawer.

He put the key in the lock, the "click" sounded like a lullaby, he breathed a sigh of relief, the other three still hadn't returned, Devan flipped quickly, eyes scanning the bright red titles, skillfully written.

Why isn't there? Devan felt insecure, if not in this book then which one, where should he look next, Sabrina's time is running out, forcing him to hurry.

Finally a line of text appeared, attracting Devan's eyes.

"For love...you will do everything..."

Curious, he stopped turning to the next page, looking down at the small text.

"Your lover
Unconsciousness
Desperate pain
Then suddenly realized
Time is running out
Is there any way?
For you to save the loved one?"

Devan's stomach turned upside down, he rushed to turn to the next page to find the next paragraph, when his hand touched something sharp, he removed his hand and immediately saw where his four fingers were placed. the folds, the pages were yellowed so the folds yellowed too, the folds were folded in a triangular shape, its pointed tip touching his flesh.

He slowly opened the fold.

"How lucky
There's a way
Come see me
In the Deep Forest
Let's go alone
If you see something strange
Put it right out of the ear
Directing attention
About that house
Red tile house
Strange shape.

There you will
Execution of the contract
Only Yes or No
Are you willing?
Trade one thing
Then you will see
Instant results."

[...]

That night Collins, Syrena and Mrs. Tiffany still hadn't come back, Devan had read and re-read the poem by heart, he had showered, changed into brand new clothes, he was standing in Sabrina's room, looking outside of the window.

The snow was still falling, and his heart was suddenly disturbed. Should he do this? This book was a taboo for his family, his mother and father never let him or Collins touch it, his parents intended to burn it but the chaos of life made them forget it, so that it remained for many years. under the barn and today for the first time in a hundred years the book has been opened.

He walked over to the bed, touched Sabrina's face lightly, placed a light kiss on her forehead, and whispered:

"Hang on. Wait for me, I'll bring you back to life. Please! Don't leave me!"

Then he took out the silver ring from his right hand, put it on the ring finger of her left hand, a tear fell silently, he held the white hand that now has a ring symbolizing his love, kissed it gently and then he turned his back and walked away, closing the door gently.

[...]

He walked in the cold snow, finally entered the Deep forest, the trees were vast, the wind howled with gusts, the snow was still falling, Devan courageously continued, along the way sometimes the young man felt like someone is looking at him, staring, curious, he turn around and see behind only trees and cold snow, weird, he is alone in this forest tonight. Why do he always have that strange feeling?

After walking for a long time, a deer appeared in front of him, it suddenly appeared, making him startled, but when he saw that it was just a deer, he silently blamed himself for being stupid and continued walking.

At that moment, a strange thing happened.

[...]

The deer stood in front of Devan, he went to the left to continue, the deer jumped out to block the road, he went to the right and the deer did the same, because the two sides were immense trees. If he enter there is only lost in the woods, he will lose his way, when he turn back, he cannot. Continue to be stopped by this deer, ten times like one.

He exclaims:

"My God! I don't understand you anymore. Please deer, I need to get through this place, the one I love is in critical condition. You can't just keep blocking my way."

The other deer seemed to understand what he said, he stood there, his small black eyes looking straight at him. Devan exhaled and continued walking when the other deer rushed over, knocking him down and rolling on the snow.

"Ouch! What the heck? What's wrong with you?"

He was angry. Really hateful! Time was running out, and yet something like this happened, Devan stood up, annoyed, and was about to go into the direction of the overgrown trees when he heard a voice:

"If I were you, I'd go back there."

Startled again, Devan spun around. He almost fell backwards when he saw an old man sitting perched on a nearby tree branch, his beard and hair white, he was wearing simple clothes, true to a person walking in the cold snow, he carried a stick and then he jumped down.

The deer was still standing, not moving, the old man came over and patted the deer's head, then looked at him.

"Boy, you're really stubborn. I have to say, you know? I've been stalking you for a long time, from the moment you left the house to the moment you entered this Deep forest, I say disciple mine jumped out of your way and it did a great job, he smiled at the deer, "and what do I get? He was stubborn, he was irritable and showed his attitude to my disciples, until my disciples hit him with an intention to return but he was still determined to continue. Boy, why are you so stubborn, huh?"

"My lover is in critical condition."

Devan replied succinctly.

"We all know, huh? Eighteen years old, right?"

He was surprised, then nodded again.

"Boy, go back, going on will only cause more pain. I advise you, really."
