CHAPTER 65: HEART SKIPPED A BEAT AGAIN
In the middle of the night, Sabrina was awakened by a sound motion. The sound of "knock...knock...knock" sounded again. What's wrong? She wondered if it would be heard when only her grandparents were there.
After all, tonight was the last night the sisters slept in this room. Early tomorrow morning they will board the plane back to the US, she tried to put herself back to sleep but failed, dozens of times like one so she had to get up. God, how was this situation like the first night when she heard that noise? But this time there was a difference, last time she was extremely scared, holding the phone across the room.
However, this time it was different, she sat on the bed calmly, no need to have a phone anymore because outside there was a full moon lighting up the small room.
The sound resounded again, but this time there was no sound of footsteps coming up from downstairs, a hurrying gesture. She sat on the bed for about fifteen minutes and then decided to jump off, slipping her feet into a pair of soft, warm velvet slippers.
She turned to look at her sister and then opened the door and slipped out. Still the same eerie long streak of light, she didn't think much of it, her footsteps seemed to already know the location, she kept going straight and finally stopped in front of the last room in the hallway.
She took a deep breath and exhaled, and she pushed the door open with all her might, the door a little heavy, she thought, like any other oak door in the house. Greeting her is still broken glass, is it because no one has cleaned them yet? Or no one knows to clean it, simply because that person rarely visits this room, so it is natural to not know.
[...]
The sound of "knock...knock...knock" still resounds evenly, it's coming from the closet, right? She gently opened the cupboard door, took out the burned out candle, and looked around the room.
Wow! There is a match here, she happily comes over, holds a box of matches in her hand and takes out a stick, she lights up her candle. The dim light illuminates the whole room, she peered into the cupboard, strangely, why is there nothing?
Obviously she heard that noise coming from here.
Suddenly, a strong, warm embrace hugged her from behind, the faint scent of mint made her heart skip a beat, she turned around in panic, the candle in her hand almost fell. Through the dim light of the candlelight, she recognized who it was.
A tear fell, she exclaimed:
"Devan."
He went over and kissed her lightly on the forehead. Then the two of them sat down together in front of the cabinet, the candle placed between the two of them, still emitting that dim, romantic light. She rested her head on his shoulder and asked:
"How did you get here?"
"Because of you, I don't mind difficulties."
He replied like that, which made a certain girl feel very touched. And as if remembering something, she said:
"Devan, the knocking sound is so mysterious. I'm curious."
"Are you curious?"
He asked again. She nodded in affirmation, then something happened that surprised the young girl, he suddenly laughed in delight, she looked at him in surprise.
"What's the matter?"
"If you want, I'll give you the answer. Right now."
She said nothing, just stared at him. I don't know what answer you are going to give her. He walked over to the cupboard and tapped it lightly. Some girl was surprised at the truth before her eyes, it turned out that he was...
"It was you who made that mysterious noise."
He left the cupboard, sat down next to her, he held her in his arms, whispering:
"Because I wanted to see you. So why not make a little noise?"
"Little? It startled me."
She put her hand on his cheek and he just smiled. The smile and face of the boy she loved the most. Then, after a few minutes of silence, he slowly said:
"But the first time I made that noise, I didn't get it right."
"What's wrong? What's wrong with you?"
She asked.
"Your grandfather heard it and..."
She didn't need to finish the sentence, she understood. It turned out that night, hurried footsteps came up from downstairs and a figure peeked through the door into her sister's room. That shadow, that footstep could only be their grandfather.
[...]
Unbelievable! And suddenly remembered the night her sisters hid here because of a mysterious person. Could that mysterious man, she thought, be the grandfather? So from the beginning, their grandfather knew everything, but for the safety of his wife and two grandchildren, he decided to keep it a secret, not revealing a single word about this cabinet.
That's why there is a saying that "Human calculation is not equal to God's calculation."
