CHAPTER 10: SABRINA'S QUESTION AND GRANDMOTHER'S ANSWER

She stepped out of the dark, gently walking down the stairs. The grandparents were busy with their own thoughts and seemed pensive, not paying attention as she walked down and into the kitchen.

She didn't dare to say anything, just stood there silently looking at the two elderly people who were standing still, their faces worried and pensive like the trees in the distance. It wasn't until ten minutes later that the grandmother, realizing her presence, lightly patted the grandfather's shoulder, then he turned around, and then, hiding his anxiety, he smiled.

"Is my granddaughter awake? Is it strange so you can't sleep?"

She shook her head and replied:

"No, I just want to see what it's like to be in England in the morning."

"Then I'll go to the table and wait for her to make breakfast for me."

"Yes."

She replied and walked out of the living room and sat down at a nearby table. He walked straight upstairs, his footsteps sounded a bit tired, Grandma was in the kitchen and started cooking, the smell of fried eggs and bacon was all over the house, then Grandma reached for two slices of bread and put it in the oven.

She sat there, waiting, her eyes absentmindedly looking out the window: the sky was brighter now after last night's storm, clouds drifted by, gently, the wind occasionally touching the wooden window frames. The glass made a "clack...clack..." sound that made her think someone was knocking on the door asking to come in.

The first faint golden rays of sunlight appeared, shining through the window and casting the faint yellow light on the tabletop. In the kitchen, the "ting" sound of the oven made her grandmother startled and quickly took out two slices of hot bread and put it on a plate. Then she turned to pour the contents of the pan such as fried eggs, bacon, and sausages on another plate and spread butter on one of the two pieces of bread that was still emitting a strong scent.

"Thank you grandma."

She said and took the plate of food from her grandmother, who sat across from her, said nothing, just looked out the window. She stood up, holding the dishes she had just finished eating, and walked past her grandmother, who was still sitting like a living statue. She frowned slightly, feeling a little scared. Then she suddenly spoke, startling her.

"You just put it in the sink, I'll wash it for you, okay?"

"Yes."

She replied and followed. Then she returned, sat in her old seat, fidgeting with the sparkling silver ring, she spoke to break the somewhat strange silence.

"Yesterday's story, if you can, can you continue it today?"

Grandma just now took her eyes off the scene outside, looked at her grandchild sitting in front of her, smiled kindly and replied:

"Why not? Let's wait for your sister to wake up and then I'll tell you the rest, okay?"
